  • I decided to try flushing the crankcase of this Motor to see if it will help clean out some possibly plugged passages that may be keeping the Rockers from pumping up.

I have a 97 neon (here in Brazil they were imported as Chrysler) and it doesn't have the original cold air inlet duct, which would connect to the air filter box, just behind engine. So, air inlet gets hot air from engine when it's hot, dropping performance. I was looking for a way to adapt a cold air inlet on it. It seem you had done that. I think I can see the tip of cone air filter pending next to the wheel when you are under the car flushing oil (8:04). I wonder which duct you used as the air inlet. It doesn't seem like the universal ones I've seen on ebay, accordion like. Thanks for sharing your experience!

When your grandma had the 2001 PT Cruiser, that engine had like a diesel clatter to it too in the valve train.
It always had good oil pressure too.
What I think may have been happening to that car the oil galleys getting oil to the valves may have been too small to push the oil to the valve train.
So I think the vale train runs a little dry and not getting drenched in oil like it should be getting.
I am wondering if your getting the same thing with the valve train running a little dry and not covered in oil as the engine is running
But this is just my guess and I am in no way an expert at engine repair.

That is exactly what I was thinking, I figured the flush might clear some of those oil passages. It's still noisy but it is running better. I will likely swap a different engine into it this summer.
