I have two green fiddle leaf trees growing outside in FL. One was blown over by a tornado when it was about 10 feet tall. The root ball was sticking out of the ground and the tree was now horizontal. Several yrs later, it is still horizontal, 15 feet long, and each branch is growing straight up, forming a fiddle leaf forest, from one tree.
For success with fiddle leaf fig would be: plenty of light put it by a big glass patio/garden door and plenty of water because it has big leaves for a plant that likes sun so can easily dry out in it so think of it as a catalea for a sunny place. Great job Jimmy!
The Pink Princess, in Australia yeah, my Mum got all of her's for $15 to $20 ... here in Ireland (Europe) they go for upwards of €60, I've even seen them advertised for €160! Wish I still lived in Oz 😅
Take a shot every time he says: Ohhh, Jimmy... Squamiferum costs around 30 for a medium sized plant in Europe. You can swap cuttings easily for another similarly accessible philodendron (radiatum, pedatum, non-variegated florida). Peperomias are super cheap everywhere. With the albo monstera, I have read that if you tc it, the success rate of a variegared plant is very small. That is why the price is so high.
As a new orange aroid freak, I was under the impression the ROF were so expensive because they're wildly popular and always sold out! I guess I need to go another level into the online plant shop rabbit hole for future research. Thanks guys!
Those stick things coming out of the top of the pepperomia is its flowers! Theyre inflorescence! Im not a pepperomia fan but i do love me some aroids. THAT SQUAMIE! DREAM PLANT RIGHT THERE!
...another enjoyable video. I have taken to importing my own plants and agree that many plants come in needing TLC and it does take a lot more work than one might expect. So I do understand why these plants can get pricey.Personally, I like to receive plants that need work, that is the only way for me to live and learn. Additionally, being that I am paying anywhere from $20 to $100 for plants that would cost 3 to 4 times as much if I were to source from a seller here in the states, if I kill it, it isn't "killing" me. The learning experience, for me, is enjoyable and rewarding. Like I was actually excited when I had my first experience with spider mites so I could learn what to do!
Yes, Jimmy, you're right. The squarmi, pink princess, shivereana, and hastatum are at our big box store in Australia for very cheap $12-$20. I also saw a tortum there the other day too. And I've seen pp on special for $8!
Your feelings towards fiddle leaf is how I feel about the cute, "slow-growing" "small" but over-rated pepperomias. I don't know what my mistakes are but I purchase and tried growing them indoors, CA. I've had peperomia: rosso (2x purchase), ripple, emerald ripple, ruby cascade, watermelon, peperomia obtusifolia (2×), and all died. I guess I made new mistakes & repeated some previous ones. I won't purchase again but would appreciate and love Peperomias if the chance is meant to be. RIsoilPeace.
The ficus shivereana is also rare in Australia. I just looked it up as I've never see one. It appears although advertised the nurseries seem to be out of stock
That's why I don't buy expensive plants.. cause the price drop quickly.. in six months or a year you see it for 25 dollars in a big box store. Love your videos!
Peperomias are starting to get popular-especially the watermelon! Costa Farms are starting to sell watermelon and raindrop peperomias to Home Depot, Lowe’s, grocery stores....most states except CA though :/ Also yes, those are the flowers for watermelon peperomia but they don’t really do much for me 🤷🏻♀️
Wow i'm french and peperomias here are about 3 to 8 euros exept for the watermelon, about 15 . They are beautiful but i'm struggeling with them 😅 But a lot of other plants you are talking about are litteraly non existent here or very hard to find !! Great video thanks !😊
is the ring of fire with the pink in it a variagata version? I just so ring of fires with just green leaves and with bit of cream in it. thanks for answering back :)
Question about plant propagation: I've been trying to propagate Bouganvillea plant. I mostly tried propagating the plant from various cuttings from luscious well established plants via soil and water (plant dividing with roots is excluded as a propagation method). Do you have any experience (success) with propagating Bougainvallea? I think it's an under-rated beautiful (many type of roses are not pleasing to look at), colorful, easy to grow & care for, blooms year after year when purchased in a pot or growing outdoors in rental property. There's few videos on propagating, most happen to be Indian/Hindu growers and I am skeptical. The videos are bad quality in demonstrating the propagation process (not sure if it's the time lapse, editing, etc.) but the end result doesn't look like the same pots they start with, or same cutting, and all of a sudden you'll see a small plant with many green leaves some YT eventually show off blooms. The few on propagating Bougainvellea All leave me NOT convinced of successful plant propagation. If you are familiar with Bougainvellea plants, can you please share plant info (most important how to propagate)?
Ficus elastica shivereana dun sale very well in Australia, it it easy to find them $29 AUD in the shop and no one wants to buy them, I just it put outside and they do very well😂 Philodendron squamitrum is $13 here and you could easily find $6 when they were underwater and look sad.
Tissue culture here in Australia isn’t that great, often plants revert to brown and some don’t even have bright pink, leaves at all. Still a Nice plant... you’re lucky that you can order anything from anywhere, we can’t do that here! So that ring of fire, if you ever see one would probably be over $1000 on eBay here!! Some ridiculous prices !! I send a lot of shivereanas to USA, so contact me if you want some, when postal service resume.. that looks like an altisima?
Yeah, it's really interesting how some plants in Australia are cheaper relative to the US, and then there are some that are INSANELY more expensive. Thanks for sharing Fredrick! Cheers!
I picked up 3 pink princess’s for $25 aud, which is like 15 usd. I live in Australia. They are not that common but no one likes them here, go figure 🤷🏼♂️
*Pink princess are NOT slow growers* With proper care, of nutrients, water, light, humidity, and in my case led 27W bulb in place of sun on cloudy days. Mine are in a East window with sun from 8 am to 2pm. Mine gives off new leafs as quickly as syngonium. If you're not cheap on the lights when the sun goes in then they grow fast. They grow normal and not slow at all unless in low light. I get two leaves coming in every 4 weeks. While one is coming out before unfurling the next one is showing it's point in the sleeve of the stem.

love this video! i dont know why I love it so much how much he says, "jimmy." It just feels so personable and sweet
I love these type of videos. So interesting to hear and see the experiences of sellers and growers. Thanks!
Thank you for another great vid. Love Jumajii's plant collection. He's so laid back. This vid makes it feel very homey and personable.
Love the plants and video as well. Thank you for sharing
Good interview. Jumanji Jon brings the plant buying down to reality and doesn't promote much of the hype.
This was really fun to watch! Thanks Jimmy and Jumanji Jon!
Jon seems like a very low key cool guy~
Oh he’s not.
Really enjoying series with Jon.💚😍
Great video. Looks like you both had a lot of fun 😄💕🌱

2 years ago I bought a Ficus elastica shivereana for €13 in Berlin at a "big box" hardware store, but haven't seen any at any nursery or shop since.
also, love watching you two enjoying the variegated string of hearts :)
Great plants... This is fun seeing it from a sellers point of view.

Thanks so much! Yes, once someone mentioned flowers, I had a "slap forehead" moment lol
I can’t believe y’all don’t know those are peperomia flowers! Fancy name is inflorescence and common name is rat tail!
Haha yeah, a slap-in-the-face realization lol. Thanks for tuning in. Cheers!

I just bought that ficus on the weekend and it’s lovely! We call it lemon lime
Enjoying from Australia ☺️ Good video because South Australia is equivalent to California climate wise.

🤗 You guys are fun👌
100 dollars for THAT peperomia? It sales for 2.75 in Europe!
heh. For that Ficus elastica, they have ton in Mexico; air layering is way easier than regular cuttings. The problem is getting it to the states.
That ROF almost looks like a Carmel marble. It took me forever to get mine at a reasonable price
Aww love the Squami

I saw them a few weeks ago in lots of bunnings store (A big box plant store in Australia).
They’re usually in big w..
I have ficus decorated tineke

Yes the variegated string of hearts I killed my first one ! Overwatering is my problem, I got a free replacement and it’s fine now tfs great content
I agree that overwatering is the most common killer of SOH. Great great plant for those who grow it well.
It is wild how prices will fluctuate on some of these guys.

I wasn’t into plants the last time I was in Paris. Hope to do more European plant trips in the future. Cheers!

I just so ring of fires with just green leaves and with bit of cream in it.
thanks for answering back :)
when the plant receives too much sun then some of the cream will turn pink.

That ficus I bought from home depot in for $9.9in Canada BC
Those Pepperomia's cost $2 in South Africa lol

@@valiaudet3415 They were $20 at Bunnings. And on Ebay and online plant shops. All about $20.
Those are peperomia flowers.
Haha thanks so much! Now that you say it I feel like slapping my head for not evening thinking of that possibility lol. Cheers!
I found a Thai constellation at a big store here in Australia selling for $219 aud
Variegated monstera are notoriously expensive in Australia =(
Medicinal plants collection +health benefits please
Peperomia paying high price would be for a nice ceramic/designer/cool pot but I wouldn't pay high price in nursery/grower's plastic pots.
“Jumanji Jon price” iconic
Yea i got a peperomia Watermelon at Patuxtent for $16
Lol the watermelon peperomia definitely had its 15 mins in 2018
Haha I think it was very popular at the beginning of 2019 too. I really like it haha
I think you can buy pink princess in supermarket in Europe, for like 10 EUR, but i still don't want it...😄
Plants get poached too!!
I sure wish I lived in California so I can buy some of his plants. I don't buy anything on fb because my acct has been hacked 2 times so far.
i bought a peperomia plant here like in 15:40 for like 7 us dollars
All of the prices quoted in this seems extremely low. I haven’t seen any of these plants sold for under 40$.
Different times my friend haha. But hopefully as the world normalizes prices will come back down.
😀🤩😍
How are peperomias easy?? 😂 I’ve killed 3 and never had success propagating them 🙈
