My Mom passed away here in Michigan in March..I thank God for her nurse she was exactly like this nurse caring for Grandpa in this video. She held my mom's hand....she sat with my mom..she talked to her. Her nurse done what we as her famiky weren't allowed to do. She told my mom that her family loves her and we want her to fight. She got to know our family over the 15 days that my Mom fought in ICU. She was literally an angel for our family. I thank her dearly.

Btw my mama is 92 years old and was diagnosed with coronavirus she is in a nursing home and was in the hospital during this time but she is back in the nursing home now and doing well but she's very down because we can't visit her except by phone and though her window it's very hard and we are very concerned about her well being we have not got to touch her or visit in almost 2 months but we are very thankful she is here . Don’t be ridiculous. They are more likely to catch it with ppe on than without and they are more likely to get it from the patients than from each other
Yeah I agree but because of the shortness of PPE means that to get more people getting them with the patients, where they need it most, it’s not fair tho.
To be honest, this came out in early April, and guidelines and protocols throughout March and April were pretty much changing on a daily basis until it got to where we are now on my particular COVID-dedicated unit which is hospital-owned surgical scrubs, an N95 (or a PAPR) and regular face mask, a hairnet, and shoe covers 24/7. With a face shield being worn for direct patient care and of course gloves.
This is a great "day in the life" story about how Methodist is dealing with COVID-19 with their new Highly Infectious Disease Units. After describing what Methodist is doing to create and staff these HIDUs, the story transitions about 4 minutes in to telling the story of "Grandpa" Steubinger. The story brought tears to my eyes. It also gives you some hope and a keen amount of respect for the nursing staff and the army of people behind them that are on the front lines here in Houston. It makes me proud that my own daughter, Kelsey chose the profession. Pablo Vasquez, the HIDU Nursing Leader made a great comment. "We all see it as a privilege in nursing to be with someone at their bedside as they go through that transition. It's almost like we're a midwife to the soul. Perhaps it's ironic that we're in a Labor and Delivery Unit and that we're helping that transition in someone's life." When they talked about how the nursing staff collaborates with the patients' families, because the family is not allowed to be in the hospital, the nurse tells how she was a witness to the daughter thanking "Grandpa" for being the one that brought her to believe in the Lord. If that doesn't touch you, I don't know what will.
Before one more person comments on masks, they are using Paprs, powered air purifying respirator, these are used instead of n95s, just as good if not better, and saving masks in the supply chain, not all hospitals have enough of these to use, and some don't use them at all, so they are doing everything they should be, before one more person trys to say they aren't using masks, please read.
that's great, but while they are all in close proximity to each other in their morning huddle they weren't wearing anything of the such...yet if you go into a store they will have a sign admonishing people to wear a mask...kinda weird huh?
I agree that it's better. With the masks it's harder to breath which is probably not very healthy, especially for long periods of time. I like everything they're doing. It's well thought out and planned.
Thank you for all the hero’s out there. Helping when we could not help ourselves. Comfort us like we were you own family. We never can say thank you enough to what you all have done and continue to do. Thus was heartbreaking but we will all get through this. Stay safe y’all and be blessed.😔
This is what being a nurse is all about. Being with people when they are born, when they die and in between. As a retired nurse, I would give anything to be back helping my colleagues and patients get through this. To be with someone when they pass is an honor and a privilege. We will not let you die alone. To my fellow nurses, I salute you. Your bravery and compassion has never been more appreciated than now.
My grandpa passed away a month ago from COVID-19. No one was able to be with him in the hospital during the month he was there. He was so careful with everything he did to try and not get infected. He also had to go to a hospice, he was there for a day and a half before he passed. I was able to see him there and say my final goodbyes. Please, please everyone be careful.
I have never felt my heart ache so much as it has since this virus started!! Just knowing these people have to go through this alone and die alone, is GUT WRENCHING!!! It's horrible and sad... I can't imagine.. God bless all the people affected and so the nurses.. Lord bless you all!!
These are the people that make a difference in the world. God bless. I liked the mid wife in that process part because it really does make sense. These people are angels on earth
After this video, I truly see that this is an elderly people's virus. And even though these people have gotten to live their lives, passing away alone without your family is heartbreaking. KNOWING that you are dying and KNOWING that you aren't allowed to see your family is horrible.
Thank you so much Methodist Heros for doing what you do!! My prayers are with all of you, Dr's, nurses, janitorial, security, administration..all staff and volunteeers. May God continue to provide you with strength, guidance, protection and the love and care that you give to each patient. God bless all of you! ❤🙏🤗❤
As a Paediatrician, I see in my own hospital and on the video, how difficult it is to function in a hospital whilst maintaining appropriate social distancing. Health workers are the most important part of the pack of cards - if we get sick, the house falls apart, so we need to learn to work 6' apart...... One Covid + member of the team, decimates that team and everyone suffers
It’s so nice to hear that a man in his 90th passed away leaving the greatest legacy faith in our Jesus! Theres nothing more precious in this life than being right with God! The nurse is amazing you can see she does her job with a love in her heart!❤️
Sarah X God can not prevent thing that human decided to do, that would make him a tyrant (no matter good or bad) he gave us a choice to decide what decision we will make (that’s what make God so beautiful!) (: hope it helps!
I lost my Grandma three weeks ago because of COVID-19 she died alone in her bedroom in her house, I got stuck across the country so I couldn’t held her hand, nobody was there for here, It’s so heartbreaking and frustrating to see how hard this disease can be, I’m praying for all the people we lost in this hard way.
I started working as a temp in an NYC hospital that was in dire need for help in the beginning of April and i just have to say EVERY temp. clinician we had (they all came from Texas and were mostly RN's), were the sweetest, most caring providers i've ever met. They all left their families to come to the worst hit hospital in the country and they are some of the best people i've met. When i see the difference between quality of care and bedside manner, it's clear that those Texas nurses know what they are doing. Thank you!
This is so sad to watch I almost cried I literally teared up. This virus needs to leave and never come back.. I even lost my grandma from the virus. And it also got to my whole family but we all recovered, except for my grandma
Hello Pablo, this is Annie, I just wanted to say THANK YOU 🙏 SO MUCH for what your doing. Its so good to no it’s somewhere close if we need it, during this pandemic.. It’s so good to see you my Ex-Boss #CNO #imsoPROUDofyou #keepuptheGOODwork

Hope everyone reading this is safe at home. And i love everyone who is helping to save people with covid 19.Please everyone stay safe and wash your hands
I hope Richard’s family finds comfort!Im so sorry to hear their loss to this dumb virus!I am tired of this virus taking so many innocent lives of people!I pray this will be over soon!🙏🏻❤️
In tears 😭 Thank you all for the risks you take and sacrifices you make to help people in their most difficult days.. RIP Grandpa ♥️ I hope your family can come together soon to celebrate your life..
Thank God for you! All my doctors are Methodist doctors and so are my family members doctors. We go to the Methodist Sugarland campus. Methodist is the absolute BEST and I am so grateful to have Methodist as my health provider. God bless everyone of you who put your lives on the line for us! May grandpa rest in peace. My heart hurts for that family and all the other families who's loved ones have passed away from this horrible virus.

Too bad they didn’t have this whenever my great grandpa was fighting for his life and now he passed away. But thank you for all the lives you save because I don’t want anyone to go through what I did
no other word to describe these people than absolute heroes. thank you guys and every other healthcare worker for the incredible, selfless work you do each and every day.
Thank you all for your amazing courage as our frontline workers. I am a student medical assistant and strive everyday to be this amazing in my future career path.
You have to remember this was over a month ago we weren't routinely wearing masks in the hospital unless we were taking care of patients in their rooms
And the nurses are wearing Paprs to go into the covid patients rooms, those are powered air purifying respirator, in place of n95s, they are doing everything they should be in this video.
They don't need it on everyone at all times, or else they'd run out of masks. Shut up you ignorant idiot, you'd never be able in a thousand years to match a tenth of the intelligence of any person on this staff.
They do not need the protective equipment until they come in direct contact with a coronavirus patient or any other patients. Each hospital is different depending on its location.
I am a hospital RN in MN. We have just opened up the state 4 days ago. Watching this video gives us encouragement to always do the best for not only our patients, but also the families of our patients. Talking with the doctors, we are all quite nervous with the upcoming surge of patients we will be getting. Team work and compassion runs rampant thru our hospital and these videos just show us how it also runs rampant thru all others as well. THANK YOU AND PLEASE MAKE MORE VIDEOS!! 💜💜💜
I cried and I cried hard. I work for the prison system. Caring for these men, our staff, and my family has been incredibly difficult. To watch the people you care for struggle around you and not have their family there as support is incredibly difficult and what you all are doing each day is heroic. Your efforts are noticed and appreciated. Keep safe, keep strong, and keep doing a beautiful job.
Well how was it different? It was here in the beginning of the year? That is an excuse! A lot of hospitals were not this relaxed while treating covid patients. I knlw seeing this some hospitals like I said is more relaxed on rules.
Cause they were already very low on mask. Lots of nurses and doctors that have social talked about that they were reusing n95 mask. As of right now, im not sure cause i dont follow them. Back then i did but then i have my reasons why i stopped.
My Mum was recently released from hospital following Heat stroke (thank god) but seeing how the nurses and doctors were working on the wards just made my heart break, the amount of work they are doing in this highly critical and dangerous time is absolutely amazing, and I truly believe mankind needs to redraw the 'hero' criteria, and put these guys right at the top of that list
No not negative pressure rooms, most units only have one or a handful of negative pressure rooms, they are using Paprs in place on n95s! Which is actually better, they are conserving masks, Google paprs!
They do not need the protective equipment until they come in direct contact with a coronavirus patient or any other patients. Each hospital is different depending on its location.

God bless you all. Y'all make me a proud Texan❣️ such angels working to help. My prayers are with everyone who rose to the challenge and has been there as loved ones for these people struggling with Covid-19.
I can’t tell you how utterly difficult, frustrating, and soul-draining it is to care for these patients. I worked on the covid unit for an 8 week contract in Boston, MA. I won’t ever forget this time for my entire career. It has tested my faith in myself and humanity and it’s shaped me into a better nurse. What people are not seeing and understanding is how cruel this disease is. It isolates you from everyone for its duration or until you die from it. It affects the most vulnerable and especially those in group settings. I have seen SO MANY group home patients with cognitive disorders sick with covid and its complications in the hospital. They don’t understand the disease, they can’t see or speak to their caregivers (who understand all their idiosyncrasies), and we can’t even stay in the room to hold their hands or hold them in our arms when they’re scared because of the risk of transmission. I hope I never see anything like this again.
They do not need the protective equipment until they come in direct contact with a coronavirus patient or any other patients. Each hospital is different depending on its location.
what i'm guesing it was a coin that was a different color it sounded like here's the color for today, i guess to show that certain coin they were tested that day.
Wow .. lot of new faces ..I only recognized few people .. anyways why isn’t anybody wearing the mask continuously?? Not safe at all.. especially with all the staff staying so close together..
Arianna Menard I’m not talking about inside the room.. inside patient room is far safer.. but hallways and nurses station are not safe.. employees come from different places .. therefore it is necessary to wear regular masks .. as soon as they enter the building, a mask should be required

we are now on my particular COVID-dedicated unit which is hospital-owned surgical scrubs, an N95 (or a PAPR) and regular face mask, a hairnet, and shoe covers 24/7.
Perhaps it's ironic that we're in a Labor and Delivery Unit and that we're helping that transition in someone's life."
When they talked about how the nursing staff collaborates with the patients' families, because the family is not allowed to be in the hospital, the nurse tells how she was a witness to the daughter thanking "Grandpa" for being the one that brought her to believe in the Lord.
Why they not wearing mask.
How you know that.
that's great, but while they are all in close proximity to each other in their morning huddle they weren't wearing anything of the such...yet if you go into a store they will have a sign admonishing people to wear a mask...kinda weird huh?
neckarsulme this was posted on 4/10 so they probably wear masks now
I agree that it's better. With the masks it's harder to breath which is probably not very healthy, especially for long periods of time. I like everything they're doing. It's well thought out and planned.
I'm honestly just happy to see how engaged our heros are in saving lives and being engaged for these peoples' families.
I cried since the beginning started ! Dear lord please god bless these nurses and these patients families 😫😭🙏🏻
Thank you Houston front line workers you are appreciated 🙏🏽
Thank you for all the hero’s out there. Helping when we could not help ourselves. Comfort us like we were you own family. We never can say thank you enough to what you all have done and continue to do. Thus was heartbreaking but we will all get through this. Stay safe y’all and be blessed.😔
I wanna grow up and save people like this someday
You will make it never give up on your dreams 🥺
You are already my HERO
You guys are the real life superheroes. Thank you for everything you do!!!❤️❤️❤️
This is what being a nurse is all about.
Comforting to see how well Methoidist is doing during this issue. Bravo to all of the staff, nurses, and doctors.
I am crying my eyes for mr Richard thank guys for what y’all do 🙏
Thank you so much Methodist Heros for doing what you do!! My prayers are with all of you, Dr's, nurses, janitorial, security, administration..all staff and volunteeers. May God continue to provide you with strength, guidance, protection and the love and care that you give to each patient. God bless all of you! ❤🙏🤗❤
I’m crying so much because of grandpa 🥺🥺🥺
Why has god allowed covid to exist
Sarah X God can not prevent thing that human decided to do, that would make him a tyrant (no matter good or bad) he gave us a choice to decide what decision we will make (that’s what make God so beautiful!) (: hope it helps!
I lost my Grandma three weeks ago because of COVID-19 she died alone in her bedroom in her house, I got stuck across the country so I couldn’t held her hand, nobody was there for here, It’s so heartbreaking and frustrating to see how hard this disease can be, I’m praying for all the people we lost in this hard way.
Y’all are amazing GOD and JESUS are with us all !
Rip to everyone who’s passed I know GOD and JESUS in the most beautiful place ever called HEAVEN💜
I know people think it’s a joke it really bad I’m very sorry for your lost 😔
Houston methodist is a true behemoth of quality medicine in the houston area. I feel safe bringing patients to you.
I am proud and comforted by the fact that this hospital is minutes from my home. Grandpa is resting peaceful. 💕
Thank you all for helping COVID-19 patients. GOD bless you all. Very caring and professional.
The tears are real right now. The fact this is our reality right now. All in all thank you. Thank you for being in the front lines. Thank for every ounce of effort you put into this.
Hope everyone reading this is safe at home. And i love everyone who is helping to save people with covid 19.Please everyone stay safe and wash your hands
Rest in soft peace grandpa 💔 So heartbroken for people who can’t be with their family when they pass.
I want to be a nurse. I know it will be extremely hard I see what my sister has to do. I want to help people
Nurses are real heroes! Thank you for everything you do.
When they said Grandpa died I was so sad😭
God bless and keep you all covered as you provide care during this pandemic. This video made me cry.
I hope Richard’s family finds comfort!Im so sorry to hear their loss to this dumb virus!I am tired of this virus taking so many innocent lives of people!I pray this will be over soon!🙏🏻❤️
I work in HR for a hospital system. The leadership, team work and compassion shown at this hospital is amazing. 🙌🏾❤️
Thank you for sharing. I feel confident if God forbid I get covid.19. You guys are angels. Stay safe.
In tears 😭 Thank you all for the risks you take and sacrifices you make to help people in their most difficult days.. RIP Grandpa ♥️ I hope your family can come together soon to celebrate your life..
I hope all of you are safe and healthy. God bless all of you. STAY INSIDE and wear masks.
Salute to the doctors & nurses at Houston Methodist who are literally saving lives!
This just made me realize my hospital is ghetto af
Why am I cracking tf up!! 😂😂😂 I’m so sorry but I can relate
What does af. Mean
@@sloppydog4772 After Friday
sloppy dog - af = as f*(% (hint it’s the f word) 😬
Sarah X lol!
These doctors and nurses are so much more brave in the face of danger than I would ever be, god bless them and their loved ones
The fact that he died just breaks my heart❤️❤️

We are so thankful for all of you front line workers!!
All the "intellectuals" with a degree in making ignorant comments: wHy aRe THey NoT wEaRInG mAsKs?
Lol
Thank God for you! All my doctors are Methodist doctors and so are my family members doctors. We go to the Methodist Sugarland campus. Methodist is the absolute BEST and I am so grateful to have Methodist as my health provider. God bless everyone of you who put your lives on the line for us! May grandpa rest in peace. My heart hurts for that family and all the other families who's loved ones have passed away from this horrible virus.
OMG I can't believe they're not all wearing masks
Scary to be honest!
Yeah kind of like sin without repentance.....
To be honest, this came out in early April, and guidelines and protocols regarding PPE throughout March and April were legitimately changing on a daily basis until it got to where we are now on my particular COVID-dedicated unit which is hospital-owned surgical scrubs, an N95 and regular face mask (or a PAPR), a hairnet, and shoe covers 24/7. I can’t believe people have not accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior!!
Too bad they didn’t have this whenever my great grandpa was fighting for his life and now he passed away. But thank you for all the lives you save because I don’t want anyone to go through what I did
I'm so glad that their taking care of the elderly in this time of need ,but why does it take a pandemic for people to care more bout one another.
no other word to describe these people than absolute heroes. thank you guys and every other healthcare worker for the incredible, selfless work you do each and every day.
Staff should probably all be masked, particularly if standing around/talking so closely like that.
They are screened daily before stepping foot into the hospital.
@@gigibigh5057 asymptomatic spread is a concern, despite the entry screening.
@@tristanx3582 They should be wearing N95 masks,
Thank you all for your amazing courage as our frontline workers. I am a student medical assistant and strive everyday to be this amazing in my future career path.
I am shocked that the staff are not wearing masks. They should have masks on!
TGWMPE they might not have it and if they do then they could be saving it for critical situations there’s something going on bts that we don’t see
You have to remember this was over a month ago we weren't routinely wearing masks in the hospital unless we were taking care of patients in their rooms
Shouldn’t they all be wearing masks?
I cried and I cried hard. I work for the prison system. Caring for these men, our staff, and my family has been incredibly difficult. To watch the people you care for struggle around you and not have their family there as support is incredibly difficult and what you all are doing each day is heroic. Your efforts are noticed and appreciated. Keep safe, keep strong, and keep doing a beautiful job.
may god bless u and all your coworkers 🙏🏻
Is there a reason 30 of them are huddled in the hospital with no masks on??
this might of been when rules were different it was more than 1 month ago
Well how was it different? It was here in the beginning of the year? That is an excuse! A lot of hospitals were not this relaxed while treating covid patients. I knlw seeing this some hospitals like I said is more relaxed on rules.
Fluffy Pants You go!! You’re doing great !
Why are they not wearing masks???
No not negative pressure rooms, most units only have one or a handful of negative pressure rooms, they are using Paprs in place on n95s! Which is actually better, they are conserving masks, Google paprs!
Me too I agree with you and your comments too I'm definitely not going to that hospital if they don't wear a face mask
They may have to take a covid test everyday since they are so high risk
They do not need the protective equipment until they come in direct contact with a coronavirus patient or any other patients. Each hospital is different depending on its location.
Tonya Reddinger you wouldn’t go to that unit unless you had COVID
That is a good medical team right there. Thank you for sharing ❤ God Bless you all!
It looks like watching a Hollywood movie 🍿
I was a patient at HIDU, and I am grateful for the hardwork that you still do.
Unbelievable people are dying all alone. No family no friends no spouse.
happens all the time, but when it does happen in the US, people now want to start caring.
Thank you for all you do, the world is so lucky and blessed to have such wonderful and caring people like these
Why aren't they wearing face masks?

They are using Paprs!

Where are the face masks??
Medical people everywhere, I salute your courage and continuous dedication.
He walk in with no mask or gloves
When this video came out most hospitals weren't masking, and there's absolutely no reason to wear gloves, there's sanitizer all over the hospital
@@sammiels12 I have seen many people in hospitals wearing all sorts of PPEs while in the hospital. Some wear 2 masks and a face shield.
WHY doesn't he have a mask on when he came into the building? They all don't have masks on their unit. 😒??????hmmmm
And NO social distancing in their pow-wow meeting.....WTH?!?
No ppe no social distancing... yet people believe this

God bless everyone that is working on that unit. Tabitha is God sent.
0:10 What was that the doctor was handed? Looked like a gold coin.
what i'm guesing it was a coin that was a different color it sounded like here's the color for today, i guess to show that certain coin they were tested that day.
It is a sticker to indicate that he has passed the screening for the day.

Wow .. lot of new faces ..I only recognized few people .. anyways why isn’t anybody wearing the mask continuously?? Not safe at all.. especially with all the staff staying so close together..

It's physically impossible to social distance working at the hospital, most units aren't even as spacious as this one.
Arianna Menard I’m not talking about inside the room.. inside patient room is far safer.. but hallways and nurses station are not safe.. employees come from different places .. therefore it is necessary to wear regular masks .. as soon as they enter the building, a mask should be required
Sammie S yes, exactly. It’s very hard to social distance in a healthcare facility .. so therefore a mask is needed continuously in the building..
