    Good video. I like to use Sphagnum Moss and rooting hormone. You don't always need to use the hormone. Some people use honey as a root stimulator. The air layer is performed when the plant is actively growing starting in the spring. One reason air layers fail is that the bark is not completely removed. You can use a pair of pliers to go around back and forth to get all the bark off and reach the cambium. Also some light should reach the branch so the leaves can turn the suns energy into sugars the plant will use and send towards the roots. The sugars collect at the upper area around the girdle to form callus and then roots.

      @DVisionHD  7 лет назад +1

      thanks for your suggestions , yes I have tried earlier the sphagnum moss too , but since i have potting soil is much cheaper and available regularly every where and since i had exactly the same result with potting soil so i switched to potting soil , however it is an option which one can prefer ,

      I forgot to mention that using foil or black plastic to keep the roots in the dark is also important. Surprised to see you get roots even when the light reaches the soil bag. Never tried it that way. Maybe will next time. Thanks again for sharing. We all can learn from each other.

      Pepe's Fruit Trees if there is enough medium blocking light between the plactic and the branch it will be dark enough. i general layers that are covered do better but they still work without cover.

      True! I watched a lot of tutorials in this topic and this one is really one of the best. What I don't understand is why people don't make their lives so much easier with the air layering boxes myfirsttree.com sells. I mean it's a gadget specially made for the procedure to ensure that the cutting will survive and if you do a tutorial I would recommend to a newbie to use the best tools from the beginnig.

    When it comes to bearing of fruits,how long does it take for air layering plants to start bearing fruits and what are the advantages of air layering over seed propagated or buding/grafting?

    • @DVisionHD
      @DVisionHD  4 года назад +8

      if the tree was fruiting and you made an air layer on its branch its normally starts to bear fruit immediately so actually this is the main advantage so you dont need to wait many years .also it is possible to air layer very tick branches which once you planted it is already tree by itself so ther are many advantage

      Seriously, why all the whiners with the first world problems? Some people have info to share. They do it their best, and you don’t even pay them for it. They may be mute. They may not speak whatever your language is (this IS a worldwide site. WORLDWIDE. As in, not everyone speaks everyone’s else’s language, and let me guess, you want it in English, right?).
      Grown ups recognize these things and don’t complain, but instead say thank you for making the effort to help a total stranger. Even if the video maker DOES speak English, someone may always bitch about an accent, whether it is a second language accent, or an American or British regional accent. They may have just had throat surgery. There could be many reasons why they choose to use a robot voice, which isn’t a big deal. I use an app that reads to me all the time when I’m driving or otherwise unable to be at a screen. My robots read just fine, in fact, NONE have the accent of the country in which I live, by my choice. All the ones I use speak English with a foreign accent, it is more understandable to me. But others would whine about it, I’m sure.
      Whiners whine. Everyone else shuts tf up and says thank you.

      The rest of the world puts the day, month, year, as do I. It’s more logical, it’s a natural progression. Today is the 16th of May, 2018. 16-5-18.
      Americans will write it 5-16-18. That is something they should know, it’s common knowledge that the US is almost the only one to do it their way, and everyone else does it dd/mm/yy(yy). But Americans often just make assumptions that the world is running their way...and it isn’t.
