Government will simplymblame the firearms....not the situation that caused this person to lose it, to feel so desperate and lost, to the point they felt the need to do this. We really need our healthcare system to handle mental issues better.

They will keep blaming fire arms i stead of providing metal health and financial discipline required to help reduce inflation. These acts are tragic and hunters and sport shooters always loose each time some acts irresponsible.

It didn't change, they're two overlapping things. Domestic violence can be between any members in a household, intimate partner violence is specifically between the couple. So all intimate partner violence is domestic violence but not all domestic violence is intimate partner violence.

Absolutely tragic. I think it takes a community based approach to attack this problem, not necessarily a state approach. Friends and neighbors see these kind of things going on and they say nothing to either party. It takes one person to notice and to try to be a sounding board to either party.

There is no help for women or men in relationships experiencing intimate partner violence. That is the main reason they do not and cannot leave. The government gives them only 30 days in a "safe shelter" who's protocols involve forms of love bombing and gaslighting before they throw them onto the streets where they get abused even more and where they can easily be found by their abuser . Blame the government, write letters, share the stories of the victims.
Edit: I know firsthand, because I had to experience it myself and met dozens of others who can attest to this.
Until women are held responsible for their intimate partner choices, I don't feel the anonymous taxpayers should be held financially responsible. We don't have any say in the matter, why should we be forced to pay for it? You are correct. There is no helping women who decide to be in relationships where they are experiencing intimate partner violence. Besides, it's the current year and we have no right to interfere with any woman's choices. The patriarchy is dead. Best leave these relationships alone.

On a not-at-all-unrelated note, did anyone else find it suspicious -- even extremely suspicious -- that the victims were _not_ identified in terms of their respective genders in (at least) this report?
We can't possibly expect any government to have all of life's answers. I appreciate you are frustrated as well as myself about these terrible wastes of human lives. But government is not the guilty party here, many are at fault.

You know what doesn't help mental health? The appalling economic circumstances that we find ourselves is due to the incompetence of the Liberal/NDP coalition. If I had to make a guess I would say this could be a broken relationship (divorced/separated). He murders his ex and then in his warped and deranged mental state thinks taking the rest of his family out is better than leaving his kids without parents. Awful stuff. I'm convinced there is an economic angle/contributor on this. Very sad.
