- Gord Kluzak was the first overall pick in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft, selected by the Boston Bruins, and spent his entire NHL career with the Boston Bruins. He was hyped as a potential franchise cornerstone defenseman but is ultimately remembered for his unfulfilled potential due to his chronic Knee injuries. In this episode of Biggest NHL Busts, I talk about why Gord Kluzak is one of the biggest busts of all-time.

I think it would be unfair to call him a bust. The Bruins wanted a big partner for Ray Bourque and they got it. Bourque thanked Kluzak when accepting his Norris Trophies. It was just injuries that did him in.
Totally unfair to call him a bust. When he played he was very good. Injury does not equal bust. A missed opportunity? Sure. If Kluzak had played and been awful I'd be on board with you.
The man had 11 surgeries on his left knee. Coming back to play hockey after just one takes the heart of a lion.
Kluzak wasn’t a bust, he was great when on the ice. He didn’t want to get injured so often.
Kluzak was really good; injuries ruined his career... he was a good fighter too.
Kliuzak was not even close to being a bust. he had knees. when he player he was a good solid NHL Defenseman. in 1987-1988, Kluzak was health and he played with Ray Bourque, and they were one of the top pairs in the league. they made it all the way to the Finals.
Can't call him a bust unless you want to say that the team busted a draft pick on someone with chronic knee problems that perhaps they should have seen but even there it's kind of iffy that you could predict that when many players in all sports have early on surgeries but then go on the have successful careers.
In all fairness, Kluzak was a solid defenseman when healthy. He was just a victim of some incredibly shitty luck.
He wasn't a bust his knees just gave out on him.
300 nhl games bud..
Bust?
Gimme a break.
Tough as nails
Kluzak was not a "no brainer first overall pick" as the video says. Many (including many Bruins fans) saw Brian Bellows as the best prospect in the draft.
Lou Nanne and the North Stars (who had traded up to acquire the second overall pick) did, and they traded two players to the Bruins in exchange for Boston's agreement to not draft Bellows.
Kluzak was an outstanding prospect. But he was not a no-brainer, obviously-much-better-than-all-the-rest choice.
The Bruins should've taken Scott Stevens instead. Imagine if Stevens and Bourque on the back end. The Bruins would've won the Cup(s) in the '90's
He wasn't a bust. You are nuts.
This video is a total falsehood. He was injury-prone, not a bust.
Using the word bust is STUPID--- injuries don`t make a guy a bust.
a bust? not really......
Kluzak was a stud until he hurt his knee was never the same after the injury very unfair label
