That Byfield goal is the GOTY because it is so pure. No luck whatsoever, every action was intentional, and nothing was wasted. Such a perfect play of skill.
I dont think you realize how nasty Zegras's goal was. Understandable, a lotta hockey experts on youtube have never stepped a foot on skates before. A michigan from the toe of his twig, while in motion at that speed, is by far the nastiest on this video... Byfields was mediocre compared to that.

Im here after that Oilers hold in game 7 against Vancouver. I wish Mcdavid had the same confidence in the playoffs.
McDavid has taken a back seat it seems, he was going for that Assists record near the end of the season. As great as McJesus is, I’m hoping that the whole team steps up. So far in the playoffs, the main goal scorers is Nugent-Hopkins, Ekholm, and Draisaitl. I know the Ryan, Foegele and McLeod can score. They’ve done a great job during the 15 game win streak, McDavid was taking a back seat back then too….
he cant be doing that in the playoffs its not that he dont have the confidence to do so its just he knows thats a super dumb thing to try and pull in the playoffs as its more than likely gonna get taken off him and come back the other way with a man advantage and on top of that he doesnt feel like he needs to be the one to do everything as everyone else has been stepping up and scoring to take some stress off of him

Zegras's goal is replicable with practice, michigans are not hard if that's a specific thing you've worked on, regardless of where on the stick it is. Obviously doing it at an NHL level is impressive, but with literally no defensive coverage and a shit ton of time, it's not as impressive as Byfields, not even in the same remote league as Byfields.

And is far less impressive than someone who went thru a defender, lost control of his stick in the process, grabbed it back whilst kicking the puck to his stick, and going forehand backhand on his knees. While going twice as fast as Zegras was.

My favorite, which wasn't included here, was Malkin's backhand goal against Carolina in the '09 playoffs. The reaction by the network play by play announcer was priceless.
How is Nazem Kadri goal not even mentioned??? The one against Pittsburgh it was nicer than every one of these goals.

@@Nai911 I don't understand how it isn't. puck carrier's skates both cross the blue line before the puck. Seems like offsides to me. Pause at 6:45 and you'll see both skates across the blue line before the puck.

would be a great sport if we could actually see what's happening.
It's an absolute travesty that AP will put so many "regular" type goals on an "Unforgettable" list and omit both Florida teams from any highlights, especially with the Tampa Bay Lightning having two 'Highlight' players throughout the playoffs the last 5 years in Kutcherov and Point. Both have game winning/clinching goals that were unbelievable, during the playoffs and regular season. Not to mention Martin St. Louis in Game 6, 2OT, game winning, Cup saving goal from an impossible angle. So tired of all the Northern/Canadian haters!
