Kayaking the East Branch Pecatonica River: River Road to Argyle, WI - March 2024

Put-in at the dedicated landing at River Road in Argyle, WI. There is a gravel driveway and plenty of grass parking. The landing is a concrete ramp down to the river. The take-out is above the dam in Argyle, W (upstream river right). There is roadside parking and a concrete ramp down to the river.

There is always plenty of water for this trip and we’ve never had an issue with too little water. After the Yellowstone golf course area, the river widens out and the current dies as the river approaches the dam. As I mentioned in the video, this is a great spring/fall paddle when the leaves are off the trees because you really can appreciate the geology. Also, this is a safe place to paddle when the water is cold because there is little current and there aren’t any significant obstructions in the water. The river is well maintained and well used. Thank you for all who help keep the river clean and obstruction free.
