    I am not surprised that your artichoke cactus produced a runner so far way. I have a blue coloured Agave that did the same, twice. I moved the puppies to more suitable places. Mine is different to yours though, the leaves are not serrated. I still could not identify it. Mine came from Texas, a subscriber brought it to me as a baby 3 years ago. It is growing large, If it grows very huge I am doomed 😄

    Beautiful garden😌🤲💖So the Ferocactus glaucescens has been in your garden 2 years? How cold does winter get there in Nevada? Here we have dry, sunny winters with a low of 17.6°F. I have a Ferocactus glaucescens I bought a few months ago. I think it's quite cold hardy? Is that true? Thanks for your garden tour😌🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  3 года назад

      It gets down to about 27F here. We get occasional light snow but I cover it when snow is in the forecast. I’m not sure though how cold it can get down to without damage to this cactus. I’m thinking as long as you keep it dry over the winter, it should be fine.

    Hey C.C ( cactus caffeine) ...yeah so to answer your question about the agave growing runners.....I would definitely leave it unless it got into your road! ..... it's a beautiful plant....you see I learned something cool about them today!!!......
    Yeah so my story is I used to hate cactus 😠....I live in Phoenix AZ zone 9 B....but if you think about it it makes sense that I wouldn't like it when in town all you ever see is some half dead cactus with a huge amount of Bermuda grass growing all wild around it!! Yeah after awhile you start to dislike "desert set ups" but your set up is really cute and simplistic!!!
    However....and here's my question.... isn't the gravel a bit much? Especially with the heat we get in the SouthWest .....but then again that is natural.....mi thought about using wood chips but then wood chips with cactus?
    ......I don't know about that one....but I need some kind of ground cover but don't want to put gravel or mini boulders .....can anybody help an ole'boy out??
    Please and thank you.....PS C.C. ...how do you trip your cactus??
    Maybe make a video??
    Please and thank you 💝🌟🎉👏🌵🧁💯🍕🐓🇺🇲🐧

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  3 года назад +1

      I found that the gravel actually trapped to much moisture in my soil. And yes, it could have been heating up as well. So I try not to put gravel near the cactus. Instead, I try to use lava rocks to cover the base close to the cactus. I learned that lava rocks allows air to still circulate on top of the soil. I have not tried wood chips on cactus. It may work in our climate. I use them on my roses but I don’t like that they attract so much bugs under the wood chips.

    • @CactusCaffeine
      @CactusCaffeine  3 года назад +1

      Were you asking about trimming my cactus? One of my VLOG videos was trimming my Opuntias. So far, that is my only cactus that requires regular trimming. 🙂

      @@CactusCaffeine ohhhh.... thanks Ana.....yeah I didn't even think about the bugs that love them! ( Wood chips) ..... especially the rollie polies ....yikes those things are everywhere out here!!!
      You know I really have been struggling. I want a cactus set up like yours.... I know I know...it takes a lot of hard work and patience.....to me Ana the patience part is the hardest work! ..... especially sence we live in a microwave generation where all you have to do is push a button 😆😆
      Anyways thanks for hearing me out and answering my inquiries 🌟🧁🍕🐓🇺🇲💯🌵👏🐧
