- The MiG-35 is designed to engage air targets, moving and fixed surface targets. fighter capable of conducting close air combat in heavy countermeasures environment. Advanced cockpit furnished with liquid-crystal displays & monochrome head-up display. Resistant to electronic countermeasures, the radar system can detect multiple targets. The MiG-35 self-protection suite can be complemented by an external radar jamming pod. Klimov RD-33MK afterburning turbofan engines are smokeless & aid reduced visibility.

This aircraft if extremely maneuverable, but it has 'short legs' in that it has limited range and endurance. Also, it is somewhat light for modern conditions and it isn't cheap-most buyers would rather pay a little more and get a Sukhoi with better performance.
Just go for the best and get F35.

I worked on F-4's in early 80's I remember the Fireffox scare they even made a Movie starring Clint Eastwood fiction but we were at ease when Russian Pilot defeated to Japan with Mig-25 Firefox early 80's then we built the F-5 to resemble the Mig-25 and had programs Red- Flag which oriented many Tom-Cat and F- 4 crews to its weaknesses
Aerodynamics and engineering wise this plane has no equals. If India especially the MRFA people had engaged with their Russian counterparts to get this fighter production line and incorporated all the technologies that were developed for the Tejas, we would have had a perfect compliment to operate with the Tejas squadrons. The Mig 35 design with composites, indigenous avionics and maybe engines later would have solved our MRFA needs much better than the Rafales. But if the way was chosen to go with Rafales, we should forget about this now.

More than 60% of Russian aircrafts are always grounded because of of their unreliability. Their engine tech is junk. Most of their engines have very less TBO ( Time before Overhaul). No sane country with resorces and can afford or is not sanctioned by the west buys any Russian aircraft. Rafaels are any day a hundred times better than Mig 25.

US constantly upgrades F-35 which is what makes it have technical difficulties, a brand new F-35 with no upgrades will have no problems. It's same with F-16, constantly being upgraded, some upgrades cause faults.

So India operates 2 best 4th gen jets in the world, Rafale & india upgraded Sukhoi & Mig29. The only thing India doesn't have at present is B2, B21 & F22 type stealth jets & bombers.

The engine is not good as compared to the counterparts including the technology suite. Secondly, this is just an upgrade of mig29. Same chassis and issues rectified. Lastly, Russian technology transfer and production of parts all make an issue of buying this fighter.
Is the latest and greatest upgrade of an increasingly obsolete design. Very maneuverable and fine for a small nations air force, but definitely not up to taking on 1st world opponents.

This is the latest MIG-35 which was demonstrated by Mikoyan to the Russian Govt in Jan 2017 and is currently a contender for Indian MMRCA 2.0. The previous MIG 29M temporarily named as MIG-35 was demonstrated by Mikoyan at Aero India Show in 2007 but was ousted from the MRCA contest due to poor avionics, engine in April 2011 and India opted for Dassault Rafale instead. The New MIG-35 has improved avionics, engine, weapons, precision guided targeting, electro-optical targeting and surveillance. The aircraft is superior than the FA/18 Super Hornet that’s been offered by the US but they are lobbying hard and putting pressure on India to buy their equipment. The other reason is the sanctions against Russia due to ongoing Ukraine war. But our relationship with Russia stands on its own and with the US stands on its own.
How is it superior to the F/A-18 Superhornet...not range is not..avionics you do not know, not everything revolves around super maneuverability ...most importantly is pilot training and tactics and if you watch the news lately the Ukrainian pilots are winning the air war with older mig 29s and su 27s.

3rd is Hard points & sensors r not as expected.
4th is engine air ducts.
5th is less composite materials & life span.

7th is less BVR capabilities & AESA radar performance.
8th is large tail wings.
9th is older cockpit technology.

MiG-35 is a new fighter better in manuveurability and avionics than MiG-29 the problem is that it's too expensive and there will hardly be any spares for the countries who will buy it

mig 35 is a beast but the russian stuff is little bit doubtfull these days..the maneuverability of this fighter is better than any fighter except fa 18 super hornet.
It's more maneuverable than F-18 and probably equal to the latest F-16 models.

With the sanctions presently in place, much of the most specialised componentry is going to be unavailable, thus preventing export orders from being delivered. Who amongst the worlds air forces will be interested in purchasing an aircraft of this sophistication that the manufacturer will have difficulty supplying many of the parts for, for perhaps a decade or more ? The Sukhoi is going to have similar issues, isn't it ? And the Chinese can't really help, not even themselves just at this moment.

Why do so many Russian jets look so similar? SU-27, SU-30, SU-35, SU-34, MIG-29, MIG-35, all look like variation of the same jet. It is like they make a few changes and put a different number on it. Where they all seem to be lacking is avionics. Their highly touted maneuverability is worthless if you are shot out of the sky BVR or flying low to drop dumb bombs.
