The only song on the album not wrote by The Rev is So Far Away. They literally got his favorite drummer of all time to finish recording the album and help them tour, Mike Portnoy. He chose not to be in the video because he wasn't "a childhood friend". It was his idea to extend the song Save Me, from 7 minutes, to an 11 minute masterpiece of the absolute technical beast that The Rev was.
My mother passed with natural causes during covid times and because i lived in another country i called not get home for funeral due to restrictions, i watched her service on computer , later that night i had this song on repeat a few times to express my feelings with singalong
they're all childhood friends, not just people who've known each other for years playing in a band, so yeah i can't even imagine my homie passing away.. R.I.P. Jim
Reminds me of my best friend who was killed when he was only 19. I barely 20 at the time. We weren't in a band together yet but we spent every waking moment together. He was my brother from another mother. Hardest time of my life losing him and that was almost 24 years ago. This song hits deep not only because of losing him but so many other friends and family members in life including my late mother back 8 months ago. So when I cover this song live it's going to be very emotional for me.
Amazing song, and tribute to the Rev!! always a song close to my heart, and it can make you tear you, listening to it, while watching all these clips, of them having a good time in their youth, it was not just a fantasic band member they lost, but a childhood friend of the best kind to..
Been a huge fan of A7X for 15+ years, the ReV's death crushed my sould, it felt like losing a family member, this song makes me cry everytime, thank you for reacting so such a masterpiece
This was written by the guitarist, Victim (same album) was written by the singer M Shadows and the best friend of the drummer the Rev. I recommend you listen to that song as well, it is far more touching imo. Also Fiction (same album) which has the drummer singing three days before he passed away.
We all loved The Rev. You absolutely should absolutely react to The rev's and Syn's earlier band "Pinkly smooth" The rev has alot of vocals there. Macfly or Mezmer is a good place to start.
This is my first time viewing this channel and the first thing I couldn't help but notice the moment the video started was the pure immaculate beauty of you and the most mesmerizing eyes ice ever seen! I clicked on it cuz I'm a huge a7x fan, but didn't expect to see what I saw!
a curiosity about the video is that the synyster's guitar has REV's name engraved on the neck. The guitar was made especially for the video and it looks like synyster didn't use it anymore.
You have to react to the song "Fiction" aswell. It was the last Song Rev wrote before he passed away 3 days later. He just didn't wrote the song himself, he also played the song by himself, they just edited it afterwarts a little.
Since you are interested in The REV you might want check out a band called " Pinkly Smooth ". Its a band Jimmy and Synyster put together and Jimmy is the lead singer. They just have one album and most known song is called " Mezmer ".
The band was so good, they began with a religious theme but quickly changed over to rock. My son Patrick knew these guys very well. My son also played guitar and sang and is in a band now. He is also a lawyer, and I was out there for their wedding. Great song here and I love them and my family!!!
This song is one of the most powerful of the generation. Many years later, and this video still makes me emotional. The REV was truly a class of his own, and along with many other artists that left us too soon, music as a whole would be in a much different place if he were still with us. Before his death, many of the most iconic riffs came from this man. In fact, Synyster Gates once claimed Jimmy to be the best guitar player in the band. I encourage you to dive into their older stuff, and watch how they grew until Nightmare. They were alive, and they were insanely different. Their orchestration was intricate, tasteful, and deeply thought out. Jimmy was the one responsible for that. With his natural feel for flowing beats, and Synyster's knowledge of musical theory; the only trajectory was upwards for them. Since then, Synyster has grown to great heights as a guitar player. If Jimmy were still with him and growing along with him; the output would be subtle and complex; and truly an impactful experience. Somewhere in a perfect world, they can hear what this sounds like. I envy that possibility every day.
Try "Save me" maybe that is masterpiece tribute to their drummer.. must listen that🎉
Co writed by him and some Rev's growls recorded too

"Buried Alive" is my favorite song by a7x. It's like a journey! You'll notice that the intro has a reference to "So Far Away" in the melody.
