@@BeroeanPickets Your reference to the doctrine of the overlapping generation is of paramount importance.
Jesus essentially mentioned two events in His end-time speech, namely the destruction of the city of Jerusalem or the temple and His future parousia or return.
With the term "these things" Jesus therefore had these two events in mind.
The first of these two events is proven to have taken place in 70 AD. The second event, the parousia or return of Christ, is yet to come, contrary to the teaching of the organization.
This prediction results in a start date of 70 AD, not 1914.
If Jesus had used the term "this generation" in the sense of a person's ordinary lifespan, the second of these two events should have taken place in the 1st century.
In this respect, I believe that the question arises as to how the term 'generation' should be interpreted. According to 1 Corinthians 15:50-52, Paul prophesied in the name of the Lord that Christians would still live on earth until Christ's return.

Wow, I wish I had known these things when I left. I just called the elders, confronted them about the constant changing of doctrine, particularly the blood issue , and this made them blood guilty. Also how they were protecting paedophiles. Had to write a letter as you described, did not know why but I complied. Didn't have any other family members who were in ,so the shunning is no problem . Glad to be free. Thank you for your words of wisdom.

When I was baptized, I did not assume that I was signing a contract with an organization, although, in fact, it turned out that way; it is more like a human contract with a human organization, therefore there is no true Christian Freedom and true love, but only instructions and dogmas of a small group of people that have nothing to do with God and Christ.

Spreading such a letter to the people in your congregation will 100% lead you to be disfellowshipped for apostasy. And it's a loud and hard exit which will make you extremely difficult to be reinstated because the influences of the "apostasy" are wide. And you will be shunned to the extreme. It's a great choice if you have no intention of going back and associating with your families ever again. For many others, they may still want some form of contact between them and their families, so fading is still the best option in my opinion, though it still entails soft shunning. But thank you very much for this video, Eric.I dowloaded the template as a reference. I myself disassociated myself last year, I had no families in the cult so I chose a clean break.

My wife and I woke up in Dec. 2021 and our four born in children started soft shunning us because they were warned by a “ loving elder” so they could protect themselves . He’s quite a rat! We went to a lawyer, crafted a letter of warning to elders and CO reminding them to avoid slandering our name. Fast forward to one year, we text messaged the elders granting them permission and specific request to announce our names as no longer members. It gave us time to establish our reputation and support system for our mission to support all the ones like us in our area being shunned and seeking to get out and needing support. We are very visible and vocal about it. Everyone seeking exit has a very unique circumstance that they have to deal with. The combined exchange of a loving support group makes a very bad situation bearable. Anyone associated with that organization will suffer loss. Each person has to arrive at that decision model to their satisfaction. There is no easy prescriptions for it, but escape is preferable to remaining in that extremely toxic organization. The best healing therapy is helping others to make that change.

The idea of obtaining legal advice used to be nearly unheard of. Before the CSA cases, I think that lawyers and psychologists were mostly "in the dark" about what Watchtower does to its members,... especially when those members wake up and want "outta there". I'm sorry for your loss and your continuing pain due to your children rejecting you. The slander from elders is jaw-dropping, especially when remembering times that we worked with those very elders.

What I regret about that is my impatience to get it done and over with...I wish I had taken the time to write to individuals as you recommend. The person I was closest to in the congregation did know the truth of why I left....so at least one person will know the truth of that besides the 3 men who called in spite of me telling them not to. That was excellent advice, Eric! To send letters to those they care about. It will bring a feeling of closure and some peace of mind that their friends and family know the real reason as to why they left. Otherwise, their friends will be left in the dark and bewildered, baffled as to why someone would decide to leave. This way, whether they agree or not, they will at least understand where the person who left is coming from, and know they are not abandoning God and Jesus, or a person who has committed a gross sin. It will do a lot to help the one who has left heal. I had an easy exist. I moved to another state and that was the end of that. I strongly suggest this method but know that not everyone can do it, but it's the easiest way by far. I was planning to move anyway so it was perfect timing!
That was an excellent letter at the end Eric. The only thing I would have added in addition to what you said is the failed predictions, Watchtower history (mostly Rutherford) and the 607 BCE-1914 doctrine failure. Maybe my additions aren't necessary, but for me personally, when the correlation between 607 BCE and 1914 collapsed, I saw the entire house of cards come down. It had the greatest impact on me in terms of leaving, other than Jesus not being our mediator (according to the organization). The "Overlapping Generations" was the coup de gråce, the final straw, but it was the 607 BCE-1914 collapse that really did it for me.

Yes. Given that David Splane recently made the point about type and antitype, it's clear that Daniel Chapter 4 is a conversation between Almighty God and Nebuchadnezzar - that's it!. There's NO ANTITYPE, no basis for the 'seven times', 'a day for a year' and all that, leading to 1914. It all applied to Nebuchadnezzar, and him alone.

    • @dissidentfairy4264
      @dissidentfairy4264 Год назад +1

@@davidegral7152 I remember when I was a child, my father who was an elder, he made large impressive charts showing the correlation between 607 BCE and 1914. At that time, there was no disputing it, I was convinced the organization had the truth, and if my memory serves me right 539 BCE was used as another anchor point, a way to prove the correlation between the two dates as a back up. When I asked my father about 587 he said that JWs take the word of the Bible over modern day date-setters. He showed me from scripture how it all worked out to a science. I was impressed.
The problem is with the advent of the internet it's impossible to dispute documented and historical dates clear back to the Babylonian era with thousands of cuneiform tablets. Then we have the astronomical data that points to 587. Then we have the failed prediction of 1914, so what's left? The only thing left is to believe that Jesus invisibly sat on his throne in 1914, and that was always hard to perceive of to begin with, but if all other dates and predictions had proven to be true, then I guess we could have accepted it along with the rest of it, but logically, Jesus of course, sat on his throne upon his resurrection. So to me the 607 BCE and 1914 doctrine was the glue that held the organization together and made us feel that we were the only ones who had the truth, and without it, it all came tumbling down, at least it did for me, along with several other things, but to me that was the Big one!

@@BeroeanPickets It was also prophesied that many of you apostates would abandon the true faith, and you are among the ones fulfilling prophesy. What you don't understand for lack of bible understanding about bible history is that by about 51 C.E., some in Thessalonica were wrongly predicting that “the presence” of the Lord Jesus was imminent. (2 Thess. 2:1, 2) By about 55 C.E., some in Corinth had rejected the clear Christian teaching regarding the resurrection of the dead. (1 Cor. 15:12) About 65 C.E., others said that the resurrection had already taken place, it being of a symbolic kind that living Christians experience.-2 Tim. 2:16-18. So through history there have always been unsatisfied apostates, complaining about the different "inconsistencies", and "erroneous dates and times" that would eventually end up getting clarified anyway, and along the way, apostates like you were bailing out from the road leading to everlasting life as prophesied. And until now Jehovah's Organization is still standing,,, WITH US,,,, OR WITHOUT US, whether we like it or not. Jehovah’s dealings with his servants in the past show that understanding of his purposes often comes gradually. Did that mean that because the past servants did not always come up with the correct understanding, or correct prediction it made them fake or false? Abraham did not know just how God’s promise regarding the “seed” would work out. Daniel did not understand the final outcome of his prophecies. John the Baptizer, who introduced the Messiah, later asked to be enlightened as to whether another was coming. Jesus himself did not know the day and hour of the “great tribulation.” The apostles had to learn progressively that the kingdom is heavenly and that Gentiles, too, may inherit it. It was only upon receiving the book of Revelation that the early Christians learned that Christ’s reign would be 1,000 years long and that he would have 144,000 joint heirs.

I'd been thinking of writing a letter of disassociation lately despite the fact that I've not attended a meeting in over 23 years. My local congregation has been dissolved & many of those I knew are dead. I made it verbally clear why I was leaving, but to my knowledge, I wasn't disfellowshipped. Your counsel in this video I find most wise. Should I decide to write such a letter (addressed to Warwick, since no one left locally to recieve it) I find your template shown here to be to the point, factual, Bible based, & considerate. IMO, a letter is more effective & powerful than the spoken word in that one can organize one's thoughts without interruption. The itemized format ammounts to a reasonable, tactful, but damning indictment of the major shortcomings of the organization. WTB&TS is "in to deep" for them to be moved to issue a "mia culpa", but a rejection of the Bible based points contained would demonstrate the hardness of their heart, & serve as a witness to truth! Without pursuing this video beyond the title, which begs for an incredulous response, it really provides an opportunity to sum up all ex-JW grevences and provides a comprehensive avenue to lovingly convey that to the Society. Thank you.

Also we cannot eat and drink at the table of demons 1 Cor 10:20&21. Remember Jesus didn’t hold back from denouncing the religious leaders regardless of the consequences. Math 23:13-36. However being shunned is a terrible consequence so each of us must carefully weight our decisions. Writing a letter of disassociation is such a freeing feeling regardless of the announcement the org will make. Ultimately isn’t it what we want to no longer be “ one of Jehovah’s witnesses “. Thanks again.

I was 14 years old when I got baptized, I had barely read the Bible, but pressure was put upon me to reach out to baptism. I was a VERY naieve child, who just wanted to be accepted. I am now 71 years old, and being a JW has damaged me emotionally, mentally and my health. I have to be a PIMO as I am disabled from an accident, and depend on my family for help .Some of the worst cruel, deceptive ,jealous, two faced people, were JW's and Elders. I brought my three sons up as JW's, they are unkind, unthankful, and I do not feel loved by them, even though I gave MY ALL, until there is nothing left - money, health and energy. I'm done with the lies and manipulation. I just keep a low profile, as I am mainly bedridden. Having said that we have a good bunch of Elders now in the three congs. in my area, but misled and of course treat the law of the GB as inspired.

For Europeans I can suggest using the GDPR privacy laws.
Do the following: PIMO and fade for some time. Then contact your local congregation to send your publisher card to a remote congreation far away in your country.
After you had confirmation that it has been sent (ignore their questions of why you want them to send it) then you can finally state to them and the new congregation that you withdraw your GDPR approval.
By law they can not contact you as Elders / Org.
Its not bulletproof, but it does works.

I've been watching several YT Chanels of Ex jws. I'm going through a difficult time right now. I've been doubting some jw doctrine. I've been batized for 12 years as a jw. But I honestly never before had put the effort to really read the bible entirely and in context until recently. I've come to the realization that some believes just don't make sense to me after reading and praying and meditatimg. And God knows I've been strugleling for quite some time now. Anyhow, I've come to the conclusion that every christian group or fellowship or denomination has good and bad. All of them. But when it comes to teaching the core doctrine I feel like jws are the ones who come close to bible truth. I'm talking about the distinction between the Father and the Son. That salvation is possible if we put faith in Jesus Christ and if we do God's will. Everything else is kinda a gray area. I believe that if for example the jws have wrong the matter of Jesus being Michael the archangel, or that only 144,000 are anointed and will go to Heaven, and the great crowd and the blood and all that. At the end of the day, I feel like Jesus knows our hearts. And he will be the judge of who is worthy of eternal life. I don't believe in my heart that if we have one matter wrong we will be condemned for eternal destruction. I do believe thouh that if we blasphemy against the spirit we will have no forgiveness of sin anymore. By this I mean, that we teach lies about God's character. And that we sin willingly after we have knowledge of God and Christ and if we go back on our promise to follow Christ. I'm not trying to come off as confrontational, I'm simply sharing my imput in the midst of speaking only what uplifts a d honors God. I love my jw brothers and sisters even the GB. If they do wrong they will have to answer to our Lord Jesus Christ. But we can't be over critical of everything they do and say because remember. Jesus say the same way you Judge will be judged. Let's spread love and kindnes. At the end of the day it is up to every individual to live accordingly to what the word of God says. If some want to submit completely to the GB its up to them. If ithers don't that's ok. As long as we don't start causing division. We can all come toghether and have difference of opinions.

You write: "As long as we don't start causing division. We can all come toghether and have difference of opinions."

“. . .Do not think I came to bring peace to the earth; I came to bring, not peace, but a sword. FOR I CAME TO CAUSE DIVISION, with a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Indeed, a man’s enemies will be those of his own household. Whoever has greater affection for father or mother than for me is not worthy of me; and whoever has greater affection for son or daughter than for me is not worthy of me. And whoever does not accept his torture stake and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his soul will lose it, and whoever loses his soul for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 10:34-39)

@@BeroeanPickets This is my understanding of this passage you mentioned. Jesus sent out his 12 apostles to preach only to the house of Israel. He's telling them that their brothers will hate them just like they hated Jesus himself. And I believe many Jews those days were afraid to follow Christ because they would get expelled from their community. So I think when Jesus sais that he came to cause division he meant that a jew household will have tribulation and the family would be divided because they wouldn't like the idea of a family member to become Jesus disciple. I don't see any parallel with causing division among Christian brothers. I could be wrong. Last night I was reading Romans chapters 12-15. I meditated deeply into these passages and I prayed to God. I want to please him.I don't want to stumble my brothers. There are spiritually weak and strong. What my conscience finds ok someone else may differ. I can't imagine what Jesus felt when his own people persecuted him and killed him. He suffered horribly. But he did not come to acccept glory from men. He came to suffer and to do God's will. At the eyes of men, he was a lier, a criminal. But at the eyes of God he was loyal. I'm not saying I have it all correct all I'm trying to say is that Christianity is not united. I am commenting for the first time here and I sporadically watch ex-JW content on YT. Having informed myself about the History of the org a fair bit and how it all started with CT Russell, I was wondering if you could make a video or comment on you views concerning the question in how far if at all Russell already kind of foreshadowed the totalitarian nature that the org should morph into fully under Rutherford and even more so under knorr who If I remember correctly set up the whole internal judicial system to systematically purge the org from the inside out and basically exercise and reign of terror through fear of getting disfellowshipped or as I like to call it purged. Russell to my knowledge was not claiming to be the head of any kind of organisation even rejecting that christians should organize formally, he did however identify himself as the faithful and wise slave so he probably at least indirectly expected to be obeyed when it came to important theology.
As an atheist, I have no opinion on whether Russell was more bible-based than Rutherford or knorr, however I would enjoy hearing your opinion since you seem to be one of the very few activists who remained Christiand after leaving JW and even retained some of their uniquenesses. For example you still call god Jeova and If i got it right you reject the trinity. So how so you view Rusell? Was he a man of pure intentions to you whose good foundational work was abused by rutherford and Knorr to their own benefit or were his teachings already so erroneous and his view of himself and the role of the WT society so arrogant that it was inevitable that his movement would evolve to become a cult ?

Now we can finally "...put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." Eph. 4: 24.

I was locked out of a Zoom meeting towards the end of the Thursday night meeting and I couldn't figure out why. The same thing happened on Sunday morning. I found out later that they made an announcement that I "disassociated" myself. I never did disassociate myself, because I still have friends. Since they refuse to talk to me with two witnesses present they clearly did not care enough to get to the bottom of my issue. Is this actionable because now I will be shunned ? He made sure that I did not hear the announcement that's why I was locked out of the meeting. Then he invited me to go to an in person meeting but I declined.

As to whether it is actionable, I assume you mean legally, because internally, it is rare that they will not side with the local elders. As to whether it is legally actionable, a lot depends on the local circumstances and the laws of the land.

@Beroean Pickets I would never seek justice within that cult, but lying on me and telling my friends that they can't talk to me when I have done nothing unscriptural is spiritual abuse. All I did was ask some questions and point out inconsistencies with their doctrine while they claim to be a bible based organization. One of my friends sounded so scared when she told me that she couldn't talk to me. She thanked me for being there for her throughout her cancer treatments. Nobody from the congregation was thinking about her.......I was the only support that she had. The fear that this cult instills in people is unreal.

@Los Bereanos I know that the cult took a few hits in Europe over the shunning issue, so I do believe that I have a case. I have no problems with them wanting to kick out of their cult but when they cross the line and try to tell Jehovah witness friends that they can't associate with me because I refuse to believe unscriptural doctrines or follow unscriptural policies, they are acting as a dictatorship. The witnesses do not "belong" to that organization and since I don't want to be a part of their cult, what makes them think that they have jurisdiction over my personal relationships/friendships?
When Jesus said that the sheep will know the voice of their shepherd, the shepherd did not go to the sheep and tell them whose voice to listen to. We have free will for a reason. If my friends want to tell me to "kick rocks"........THAT IS THEIR DECISION TO MAKE !! It is not up to some sadistic, narcissistic, and power-hungry cult leader to decide !! .........They lied on the wrong person !!.........and.......that's.......just.......PERIOD !!

i believe this is a sincere effort trying to help most witnesses however per what i have realized most ex jws or ex watchtower have taken this opportunity to harbor resentment, ridicule, make fun and present insults against the organization. Is this the spirit of Christ? The awakening most people claim has resulted in another form of spiritual slumber. This is the time we have to encourage our brothers to pray about situation more not to make it our priority to encourage them to leave. Or is this what we want to see witnesses leaving the organization each of them with divided opinions on scripture. It's not difficult for the adversary to reveal certain basic truth to us to prepare us for the stage of speaking in our own authority just like our alma matter.

How could you possibly know whether someone is sinning or not?
Simply getting involved in a sexual relationship outside of marriage would be enough of a sin for that scriptural text to apply. And you know that!

I served as an elder for 40 years, in three countries. I have attended all the elders schools from the mid 1970 to my last five-day school in 2011, so I know both the written law and the oral law that JWs practice. Further, the ks book makes it clear that if someone resigns from the organization, even if they are living a clean life free from the works of the flesh, they are to be treated as a disfellowshipped person and totally shunned. Even their closest relatives are expected to shun them.

The fact that you've held on to their teachings proves you believe them to be scripturally correct.
And that of course indicates that, unlike the rest of nominal Christianity who got pretty much everything wrong, they have God's holy spirit. Where exactly would you go? I have no doubt Jehovah would use an organization on Earth to accomplish his will with regards to the preaching work, and it would no doubt mirror the Christian Congregation of the first two centuries.
    So what organization is it?
    Where do I find it?

What teachings are you accusing me of holding on to? I don't think you watched the video at all. Interesting that you say, "unlike the rest of nominal Christianity." That little Freudian slip indicates you subconsciously know that JWs are part of "nominal Christianity". I don't accept your premise. There is nothing in Scripture indicating that Jehovah would use "an organization" to accomplish his will.

      Fact check false.
An organizing effort to preach the gospel is exactly what happened in the early centuries. They built congregations. They had bodies of Elders.
Why wouldn't modern era Christianity resemble that model?

    • @BeroeanPickets
      @BeroeanPickets  Год назад +2

@@bobbycecere1037 You are correct in saying that modern Christianity should follow the model of first-century Christianity. What you fail to see due to the power of GB indoctrination is that that model doesn't support the idea of an organization run by a Governing Body that makes the rules and demands obedience and loyalty, not to God, but to men.
Jesus was the head of the first-century congregation and continues to be the head of true Christians today. Being orderly doesn't mean we have to belong to an organization. We belong to Christ. (1 Cor. 3:21, 22)
But if you wish to follow men and not Christ, that is your choice. If you wish to believe in lies like a 1914 invisible presence of Christ, a 1918 resurrection of the anointed, a 1919 appointment of the Governing Body as the Faithful Slave, and the creation of a secondary salvation hope for non-anointed Christians without Jesus as their mediator in 1934 by Rutherford, that is your right.
If it offends you that I take it as my duty before God to expose those lies and the gross hypocrisy of a group of men who self-proclaim their appointment as God's channel of communication while violating Christian neutrality by engaging in a 10-year affiliation with the UN as an NGO, well, there is little I can do about that, because to remain silent is to give tacit approval to their harmful actions.
Jesus said that we are either for him or against him. There is no middle ground.
Answer me this: If I can show you a scripture where Jesus tells you to do something that goes against what the Governing Body tells you to do, which command would you obey?
