That DA wasn’t humbled by stupidity. She was humbled by publicity. There’s a difference.
She's sorry she got caught 😂😂
Ya, it was extra bullshit that nothing was going to be done until the footage was pulled by a freedom of info request....
Hell of a line 👏🏻

Crazy a DA can be so hostile to a Police officer, while admitting that she fucked up. That is abuse of power.
Admitting that she fucked up And that she is going to cover it up when held accountable

I wonder if she will still have a job after all of this. If she's admitting to cover up something she knows is wrong then that begs the question of, " what else is she covering up? " .

I’m from rural Nebraska. I have many friends and family members that raise livestock and/or have working/hunting dogs. NEVER does someone SHOOT an animal to put it down unless it is literally the only humane option at the time, such as in the event that waiting for other methods would prolong suffering from a fatal injury. An example would be a horse that breaks its leg or a calf gets attacked by coyotes, etc. out in the middle of the pasture, miles and miles from the road, let alone the vet. Kristi Noem did not prove that she’s “willing to make tough decisions”, she proved that she can’t take care of her animals, doesn’t have the patience to train an easy to train dog for the job it was bred for, can’t take the time to castrate her goat or find another way to control it (like a pen, perhaps?), and has anger issues and/or has literally no empathy or care for animals. The fact that she DEFENDED her actions and said that it’s COMMON to kill animals like that in the rural Midwest is disgusting. She didn’t make the “hard” choice, she made the lazy and heartless choice.
I’d like to know why her family “had” to put down MULTIPLE horses that had been with their family so long. We’re they having normal health problems that an extremely old horse like that would have, but she found that a nuisance, so she “got rid of the problem”? Did she get bored with them? There better have been an actual, kind reason for it, otherwise her actions are starting to look a lot like animal abuse, which is taken extremely seriously in the Midwest. Especially abuse of livestock, like goats and horses. If that’s her “hard” decision, what does she do to deal with “problem” animals when it’s not bad enough to warrant shooting them, in her eyes? I’d like there to be an investigation into that, because no one goes from loving and caring for their animals to viciously murdering them for no reason. There’s no way she’s properly taking care of her animals and treating them with respect. ZERO chance.
Good on all the other big political figures, including the other Trump VP candidate, for trying to make her face her actions by posting their pets. That made me smile after hearing about such awful things happening to animals. Her response definitely shows that she should NOT be VP, and should not be in any position that has power over others. Especially one that is in charge of a whole state, let alone a whole country.
Exactly!!! Male goats go into a breeding season where they stink and pee all over themselves each year and the rest of the year they are themselves, but in that season the pushyness level goes way up! The 14 mo old was being a 14 mo old bird dog and it's like the woman has never heard of a leash before.
I hear a entire lack of animal husbandry in what she says. No matter how many horses we have ever had or any stable I have ever worked with has had I don't think three have ever been put down at the same exact time. We love our horses and when you have a 20+ year relationship with an animal. . . . . .I am still broken up about a horse I put down 7 years ago and a person I was with this past weekend from SD started crying about a horse they put down last year. We love and cherish our animals.
I can't agree more that the only time you ever do it yourself is when the animal is already suffering and you know they won't make it and the vet is going to take a while to get there or there is not easy access like out in pasture, maybe in winter as well. There is no reason to do it to a healthy animal when they could be potentially rehomed or many other options available. It's never an easy thing to do and it's absolutely a painful decision to make and it should be, but she speaks about it so easily when it should be a heart wrenching thing to do or at least, it always has been for me and anyone I know who is not abusive to animals.
The lazy and heartless choice, those were the words I was looking for. She doesn't have the patience to apply long term solutions for complex problems, she just obliterates whatever she thinks is causing the problem. Someone like that shouldn't be involved in or overseeing complex institutions with systemic issues that need way more than one change in order to alleviate those systematic issues.

also like 25 isn't that old for a horse if you take care of it right, my grandpa's friend had a horse he took care of since he was a boy, live into its 50s, I'm pretty sure it was 54 when it died, would've lived longer too if it didn't get cancer and had to be put down (also they got a vet to come out to the stable and do an injection so the horse was comfortable, not what that crazy lady did)
@@kodabuck225 that’s actually unusually long for a horse, most live to be around 25-30. 54 is crazy long, that horse had great genetics and definitely received amazing care and lots of love throughout his life.
In Kristi Noem’s recount, she describes a series of her failings. She knowingly introduce her puppy to an environment that had a high chance of being overstimulating and had no plan for handling a dog that’s too overstimulated to listen to commands. Then knowing her dog has an intense prey drive around birds, she failed to secure her puppy when near a flock of chickens. Then when her puppy, in a state of high arousal and sensory overload, mistakenly bites her, she failed to understand that the bite was accidental or how she was at fault for creating this situation.
Kristi failed Cricket over and over again. My heart breaks knowing Cricket could have had a full and wonderful life if she just had an owner who took the time to understand and work with her.

The Tarkov story is wild, especially when compared with the recent Stardew Valley update - it added a lot of extra content to everyone's game, for free, without having to download anything separately. The community has ballooned since, so many people able to play it and share tips for the new changes, which has been so lovely to be a part of (and is great advertising to get more people playing)
There is a notable difference, because Tarkov is a live service game. Stardew goes years without updates or server maintenance and it piles on money. Tarkov drains money constantly.

Farmer, hunter, outdoorsman here - That woman is abusive to animals by South Dakota standards. My father in law was raised on a farm in SD and when he went on a trip and came back his dad had done "that" to his dog and the man was abusive. Good farmers I know in SD don't do that to their animals and I spent the past five days with several of them.
That woman's story says "I'm inhumane, inefficient, and I lack empathy and understanding when SD is filled with a church in every small town preaching about it." She is unwilling to see her failures and would rather cover them up by burying them and the perversion is seeing this as a positive thing.
Ummmm isn't rampant animal killing supposed to be a red flag for potential serial killers?
That largely depends on other factors.
From what I heard, it's a red flag in children. I never heard it a red flag for adult serial killers.
@@delia_watercolors8186 I've heard of it being applied to adults before, i think it is just an escalation thing.
@@delia_watercolors8186 I'm no expert, but I'd venture to guess that the difference is adults understanding when they are supposed to have some kind of justification for doing so.
Not that they actually see an animal's life with any greater significance than the hypothetical child would. Age simply allows them to know that others view those lives with significance.
Why is this my guess? Ask any person like this about the death penalty. It won't take long to understand that the frequency of innocent executions doesn't impact their approval of it.
Or that they take pride in it. Something that well adjusted people at best view as the last resort for preventing future harm.
They very heavily support the extremely few scenarios other will allow them to end a life they believe is less valuable.
They don't develop reluctance, they develop restraint.
I thought the same thing, I was just waiting for her to mention she put her cat in the microwave
Kristi Noem gave less of a "do what needs to be done" impression from her story and more of an "I don't know how to raise animals so I just shoot my problems away. If my kids start rebelling, they'll be shown the gravel pit as well"
Seems less of a tough decision and more like her factory setting
Exactly. Did she think the goat not being castrated was somehow not her fault as the owner? Same with the dog attacking the chickens she should have been able to control her animal and if she can't she shouldn't be a dog owner.
That's much more of a Rampage than anything else. I'm almost concerned what happens to her staff if she gets upset about one person's mess up. Her form of firing the staff may be very different.

I've been keeping up with the Tarkov situation, not because I play the game but because I've been a gamer my entire life (since the 1980s), and this is a massive threat to the gaming space. Like you said, Phil --- the industry has been pushing more towards DLC and bilking players out of every penny they can --- which is bad enough in it's own right. But doing so while also impacting the gameplay itself and literally putting pay-to-win features in a competitive game is absolutely insane. Also, locking game features behind DLC isn't really "new," (EA is notorious for shipping games that feel incomplete and locking the rest of the game behind DLC), it's the sheer amount they're charging for this. Honestly, it feels like they looked at what Unity did a few months ago and said "Hold my beer." The reality is that big companies can keep doing this --- until the players say "Enough is enough," and speak with their wallets. And unfortunately, not enough of us are willing to do that, it seems like.
I was a Deputy DA for more than a decade and there is nothing more vital to accomplishing that job than the public trust. She has confirmed every bad thing anyone has ever accused the law enforcement community of being/doing. There is zero excuse for her behavior. She makes us all look bad and has brought shame to a profession made up mostly of people who just want to protect vulnerable populations and victims. NOTHING short of a resignation is enough.
Its crazy that she didn't end it on saying she's quitting, I mean wtf is the plan? I guess she thinks she can go to a secondary body she's friends with, get the all clear, then move on like nothing happened.
@HappyLarry. no idea it's completely unacceptable. But anyone who has the audacity to act like that I guess we shouldn't be surprised hopefully public pressure she will resign. She should also be dis-BAR.

Throw the book at these people, don't let them walk free. They should be held to higher standards, not lower.
The segment about the espionnage should have been as long as the video game scandale. It's horrifying but so much more important than a pay to play issue.
Hey Phil, Game Designer here! On the Escape from Tarkov story it's really disheartening to see the out-of-touch response from the COO of Battlestate and consider the way this story may impact future games in the space. The mobile landscape has already set the precedent that game companies will charge and players will pay for pay-to-win items, even if it's indirectly through in-game currency rather than a DLC. This is best seen in the CCRPG space (character collector role-playing game) where players will spend a considerable amount of money to guarantee getting a character that fits the PvP meta. Those high-cost currency packs you see aren't just aimed at rich players - they're aimed at any invested player, whether they can realistically afford to spend that much or not. So seeing this high price tag bleed over into non-free-to-play games for non-cosmetic items is concerning and I can only hope Players use their buying power to dissuade companies from doing this in the future.
I liked King's Raid. It got off to a rocky start, bara characters, etc., but they quickly course corrected, backpedalled on the bara and hero gacha, opting instead for bishie and a Soul Weapon gacha (still a PvP meta issue), and made the effort to accommodate free players with selector tickets and constant in-game gift events, to cut the problem in half. After that, they set up the shop, to feature generously awesome lure items for a couple of bucks, useful packages for 10-20 bucks, big semi-useful packages for around 70 $, and ludicrous filler/collector packages for stupid $, with a handful of maybe-tickets in them, so you could buy an infinite number of those, to get exactly what you want. Raking in truckloads of money off of a pay-2-pay system.
Then they trashed it again with power creep of new heroes, and saw it wasn't working out, there was too much to nerf/buff in all game modes, so they started fixing it for the sequel, with the idea, that fully built heroes should be roughly as powerful as immediate upgrade sequel heroes, and Constellation powers to make all Soul Weapons go essentially obsolete, outside of a limit breaking system, that required basically infinite resources (and for Mechanic class heroes, also a ridiculous MAX Lvl Guild Shop (min. 2 years continuous play for a 50 player guild), just because), just to keep playing their special effect/animation during combat... Then they asked the player base, if a "pet system" would make it more kawaii to draw us in to start playing the game, as if we would know that. And went ahead and implemented an extra room in-game, with a pet gacha with one idle animation, and a feed button - Yep, that's a meaningful addition, they decided, so much better now... Pet System!
Then they did the anime, that was a bit garish to look at and failed hard at playing up the story beats and presentation of the visual action and still-image trauma type narration, while divesting their funds to other "genius" projects, thinking they were King Midas or something. And then went completely bankrupt. And almost a year later, on a dreadful day in October 22, they surprise released the power creep fix anyway, that took out half of the customizations, making almost all raid gear, treasures and heroes effectively identical, and removed all the buffed buffs, that were a required pre-requisite for all of the end-game content - without adjusting the content, obviously. Now permanently inaccessible.
And have left it to gradually disintegrate on the servers ever since (but still paying for the servers, for some reason?).

I still have a Grudge against a "Swan" brand truck because I came home from school in middleschool (no one was home yet) to one of my dogs laying in the driveway dead (her leash broke apparently? It was still attatched to her collar). And the driver came by when I was checking her and said he just "found her in the road" and assumed she was ours. (Her brother was still on his leash). Even if he ran her over, at least he moved her into our driveway.
The other thing I cannot forgive is my mom running over my first cat. Only had him six months. He hid under the car. She beeped, and didn't wait for him to run away, and immediately started the car forward. I was in my teens then and petted him and said calming things until he passed a few minutes later.

I think the idea of shooting a pet out back is just horrendous. It is absolutely animal cruelty.
My dad was recently told by his friend that the man put his hunt dog down after the dog got too old to hunt. I told my dad that, if he even considered doing so to our own retired hunt dog, I’d never speak to him again. Putting down a pet in pain humanely is acceptable. Killing a pet for being less-useful is cruel.
My dog was hit by a car but still alive, just paralyzed from the waist down and I’m still haunted by the sound of the bullet being fired. I was a kid but I had some money and I would of put every cent to at least trying to get her to the hospital for treatment, or even to be put down
My family had to put my dog down back in September due to ailing health. It would've been inhumane to keep her alive just for our own sake. And even that was horrible, we went to the vet and she got put to sleep. I cannot imagine deciding to just ... shoot your dog for no reason just because it's not "trained well". Honey, that's a reflection of YOU, not the dog.
My family and the families we are friends with have NEVER EVER thought of putting our dogs down like that when they're too old to hunt, that man is a fucking piece of shit and that makes me insanely angry to the point where I'd definitely get physical.

3:35 "Ive been humbled by my own stupidity" is the quote of the millennium!
Gotta admit, the whole "never shoot a dog" comes off weird to me. When it got time for our old dog to be PTS, my uncle took her behind the barn, she feasted on liver pate, and he used the thing you use on livestock. Taking her to the vet would have been awful for her! She was so scared of it after having to have surgeries. Instead she died happy af on a sunny day with one of her fav people.
Same with the horses we've had over the years. Same uncle had done them (he's a hunter, knows his stuff). Old mare would't make it another winter with her hind leg. Had a friend dig a grave for her, and he shot her by it. No stress, no new people, not having to try and get her on a trailer to go to the vet. Instead she got some tasty treats and fell in her pasture, and the other horses could be with her and come to terms with her being gone, so less stress for them too.
What that woman did wrong was more in all the lead up to it, not the putting down itself imo. I also don't get the whole "rehome" mania. and the "adopt don't shop" thing, but then in Sweden we don't really have pet shops or pet shelters everywhere. BYB is still an issue, but not to the extent of wha it seems to be in the US. If and animal is dangerous, or really sick, just let it go to sleep. If i couldn't keep my horses anymore, my older one is getting PTS. He's been though too many homes before me, and I'm not forcing that on him again. My younger one I'd sell, cause it wouldn't be as bad.
A hunting dog that sucks at hunting and just wants to laze around? Sure, rehome. A hunting dog that's a danger to everything? PTS and give another dog the chance of a better life instead.
But yeah, to me and my peers, PTS at home is soooo much more humane that dragging the animal to the vet, holy fuck.
@banquetoftheleviathan1404 Yeah, that's just BS. That "extra required care" is just for you. The animals live in the here and now, they're not thinking about how nice it used to be or how yeah, they're in pain now but you'll make it better. They're just stressed out and scared. Better to let them go on a good day, while they're capable of feeling happy for that instant before the shot. Our dog had teet tumours, of which we'd have several removed, a thyroid condition which'd been treated for years. But towards the end she was retaining too much water, so probable kindey issues, and she couldn't stand the heat of a Swedish summer. With a heatwave on the way, it was time. Looking at her panting from stress while on a cold pad and a wet towel was awful.
The horse had some leg/hip issue that the vet couldn't figure out, and as soon as the ground got slippery she was liming af. So she got to end her life in the field of the best family she'd had in her life.
Keeping old, sick, suffering animals around is animal abuse. Pure and simple. You're only doing it to avoid facing it. Sooo many animals are kept alive for too long. Waiting for them to die in their sleep, without knowing if they felt pain or fear going? Horrible.
As a resident of Monroe County, I can't even accept the "sincere" apology from that woman. Might be the most evil Karen I ever heard of man..Poor dog
As someone who has worked with animals most of my life and is a hunter, this woman is crazy, when you get a hunting dog that can't hunt you put that dog either at home or if the dog can't be trusted around other animals you put them in a kennel call him a good boy, give him treats and plenty of time outside of the kennel when possible, you don't take them out back and execute them mob boss style,
@@artyom2643s yeah it’s so crazy that she wound the dog up on HUNTING and then was mortified when it killed chickens immediately after. How dumb can you be?
Alright, as a South Dakotan conservative who hunts and has a 17 month old puppy with INSANE prey drive- I feel qualified to speak on this Noem sitch. These dogs are bred to be absolute UNITS. She will break ice to get birds out of the water, and come back shivering and exhausted after hours of
this, but then still scream when I make her get in the car to warm up for a bit. If you treat a hunting dog like a family dog for 11 months out of the year, then try to use it to hunt one month, that dog is of course going to be a loose cannon. I've been away for work recently, and my dog has only gotten lil walks from my wife while I'm gone. She has been screaming, eating house plants, tearing up her bed, etc etc. So when I got home I didn't shoot her when she ran over and bit my foot😂 I grabbed a dead frozen duck out of my freezer, and threw it out in a lake 600 times for her to retrieve. She wants a dog for the "pheasant hunting clout" to appeal to her voters, she doesn't give a rip about that poor pup.
Also, as far as putting animals down on a farm- if you do it right, a shot between the eyes for a farm dog comfortable around guns and the backyard is so much more peaceful than being held down by strangers in a strange place while they try to get a needle in you as you squirm all over. But that's for old dogs, not puppies you just suck at training.
Kristi Noem suck's in general and I'm excited we actually get to talk about it ❤
She's been banned from many native reservations, after she made comments linking tribal leaders to drug cartels.
She instigated a legal fight against an Marijuana amendment that the majority of SD citizens voted to legalize and then those 54% of votes were ignored and the amendment was shut down even after we all legally voted for it because Noem doesn't like the idea of weed.
An ethics board looked into Noem's misconduct when she intervened in her daughter's application to be a real estate appraiser after her daughter's application was rejected in 2020. She called a meeting with her daughter, the labor secretary and the then director of the appraiser certificate program. Then after that meeting Noems daughter got a "second chance" and her application was approved 4 months later.
She signed a bill into law in 2023 that outlawed puberty blocking medication for anyone under the 18, making it nearly impossible for teens to get gender affirming care, this coming off a 2022 bill that banned transgender girls and women from playing on female sports teams.
There's more, and it seems like the consensus is that even people who voted for Kristi Noem, don't like her lmfao
Grew up on a farm in rural missouri for 27 years. Never shot a single animal, parents never shot a single animal, grandparents never shot a single animal
Thank you, no one in the comments care about this story. The dog was 14 months old, it was still growing and learning. She killed it just bc it was a bit of an inconvenience. And using a gun? It’s not the 1900s. U can humanly put an animal down at the vet and this woman can definitely afford it. It’s not like she’s a desperate farmer just trying to get by. That animal died in fear and pain. She just enjoyed putting it down with a gun. No person with empathy would put a dog down like that. Especially a person with the resources, it cost like 35-100 at the vet. She’s a politician, she can afford that.

THIS. Its a CHOICE and it does not always need to be made. I know plenty of farmers who come from farming families, and unless an animal got VERY sick or was a predator that could not be otherwise discouraged, no animals were shot up. That poor pup was bred for its energy then handed to someone who clearly had no idea what to do with that sort of dog. How awful! :(

We have one studio we've been trying to renew a license with for the last 2 years, only to constantly be ignored or given excuses as to why they haven't finalized it on their end. During this time, they set up another license with another company, banged out a bunch of product and never answered any of our outreach. Honestly, I have sympathy for her if the murders and her husbands medical crisis did get to her and it's not just an excuse. But she definitely shouldn't have her job especially if she can't handle stress properly and she generally seems like a not great person being so disrespectful and also not that smart. (Which is also not something you want from a DA besides the fact the public at large now see you as a clown, and lack trust even more if they had any in the legal institution to begin with. Her behavior could have her disbarred, put other cases in jepoardy, etc.) I mean willfully admitting or even insinuating you would just pardon yourself, and abusing/corrupting power by trying to call the chief of police, the supervisor, etc. Not to mention the blatant endangerment of going 20mph over the speed limit. All that to say I can understand it could be stressful and feel a little bad for her, but much worse for everyone else. And she should definitely be replaced.

What scares me the most about the DA is her complete confidence that she is above the law in every way and can just pardon herself or shouldn’t have been stopped in the first place because of who she is. All of this after the officer literally followed her to her home. If she’s willing to do all of that and act like that in front of an officer, I hate to think of the amount of DAs, judges, etc. that do actually stop for the officer, get their ticket, and just pardon themself later on without paying it. If they have this level of entitlement, they should not be in a position of authority over law at any level to begin with.

@@zerodawn09 I honestly have respect for the officer and the department as a whole for actually holding her accountable and even releasing footage so she couldn’t just go to someone higher and make it go away. I feel like, in most similar situations, it would be swept under the rug and the officer who “bothered” her would be reprimanded for actually upholding the law and doing the right thing. He was still overly patient with her because of who she was. Had she been a regular civilian, they would’ve had half the department after her, and it would have likely ended with her on the ground and guns pointed at her before going to jail. Instead, she is free, only has to pay a ticket, and potentially still has the job which she already failed to uphold by breaking the law in the first place. She’s not holding herself accountable by releasing a PR video. The only way to actually hold herself accountable would be to resign and have the police charge her with speeding and resisting arrest. Even if the police end up doing that, which I doubt, she still wouldn’t be the one holding herself accountable, they would be doing it for her.

I'm a South Dakota resident, have been all my life. What "Krusti" exhibited was noting less than barbaric and unhinged. That she tried to fall back on the romanticized Old West mentality of shooting farm animals or dogs as an excuse, and it's shameful. All she had to do was put out one Facebook post saying "Needing to rehome a dog", and dozens or hundreds of responses would have come flooding in from rescue organizations and the public to assist her. She killed the dog because it caused her embarrassment in the field and with the chickens, and she couldn't deal with it. She took the easy and wrong way out.

I had a living situation for a few years with an aggressive dog and a roommate who was incapable of training him, and after a series of increasingly vicious attacks, she finally accepted she couldn't keep him. But when trying to rehome him or getting a shelter to accept him didn't work (because of the extreme history of biting and other health issues), she had to put the dog down. But like, gently at the vet. We didn't take him out back and shoot him! It wasn't his fault he was found in the trash at the beginning of the pandemic and went to the wrong home, but his life wasn't going to get any better and every professional agreed. Meanwhile, a relative of mine wound up taking in a dog that was bred to be some kind of outdoor farm dog, but was terrible at her "job" so the farmer rehomed her. She is the size of a small horse and thinks she's a lap dog, but she has flourished in my aunt's peaceful home and didn't need to be put down.
It's one thing to make a tough decision about an animal's life and safety, but it's the farthest thing from humane to act like that governor.
Hello Katie. Health issues mean yes you would have to put an animal to sleep. But your friend shouldn’t get animals she doesn’t know how to train and or deal with. Ultimately your friend is to blame because animals can be rehabilitated. If you beat an animal it is never going to respect humans he will look at them as abusers. If you don’t nip that in the butt issues will continue. There’s plenty of trainers online that have rehabbed fighting dogs. I don’t recommend your friend own animals.
@@JJ-kz7ep This is a nice fantasy, but the reality is not all animals are rehabitable. Over a hundred people are killed by dogs every year (not to mention an estimated 100,000 other animals--cats, other dogs, rabbits, even horses!) This insistence on rehoming animals that are an extreme danger to other animals and humans, leads to tremendous loss of life.
Now, Noam deciding to kill her puppy after 1 attempted hunting trip is ridiculous--as it was a puppy, and it appears she didn't even attempt to train it. But in OP's situation with an viscous dog, they made the right call by having it humanely euthanized, instead of "rehoming" it where it undoubtedly would have killed other animals.
And having a veterinarian humanely euthanize is the key, not just blatantly shooting an animal.
