Walter Manhead dude he’s 26. He had a traumatic experience with his dad dying during 9/11 and then for years didn’t properly deal with it. He mentioned he was suicidal, which I hope you can agree with, isn’t very healthy. Since he found the help he needed he is doing much better and you can definitely see him being much happier and healthier! And why choose to hate when can love and be supportive of that?

Obviously, I cant be sure of this, but usually people being interviewed are given the questions before the interview so that they can prepare answers or reject questions they do not want to answer. It did not appear that he was blind sided by that question.
I have to strongly disagree with the comment about never asking the question how close did you get. Pete's totally honest and transparent answer probably was seen by millions of people. If he came back from the brink, he gave support to many potentially suicidal people in the TV audience. To make any kind of progress against this horrible suicide situation, you must ask any question and give honest answers from the survivors. By not asking the tough questions, you are only adding to sweeping mental health issues and suicide in particular under the rug. This absolutely cannot be done. I trust your comment was honest and well-intended. But you missed the mark. You CANNOT avoid the tough questions in life. They might have never gotten close to it themselves and I would never want to chide someone for wanting to understand another's problems better. Props to Pete for keeping it real(if he was ever truly uncomfortable in an interview, people can just speak up and walk out btw). Facing the discomforting darkness of your decisions, but understanding it was in the past and that you're better now is way better than just shoving it into a box and erasing that from your life.
bethmerchy Before an interview, the interviewer and guest go over the questions so as not to blindside the guest. Pete answered that question very fluidly and did not seem at all bothered by it. He answered honestly and it was a good segue into the next question about the scene where he drives with his eyes closed.
My favorite thing about him is that he talks so openly about mental health and his personal struggles. That really helps a ton of people and more people in the public eye should do that.
Pete is one of the best things to happen in a long time. Although I am older than his Dad I relate to his authenticity, his self deprecation, his sadness, his desire to be something but not at the expense of who he is. This man is healing people with his humor and his honesty. Although he may not see what he is doing as the same as his father’s path, his father would be incredibly proud of him. Like all of us he needs to be cautious; when we are at our greatest success, what we think is our happiest, doubt and sabotaging that happiness can be our self destructive tendency. This is why it is important to have people in your life that really care for you and our honest back, but most importantly you have to learn to give yourself and the world a break. It all doesn’t have to be solved in a day. Best of luck Pete in your life’s journey.
