Pretty much it was the peak, the last era when games were incredibly polished and complex with immersive gameplay. I love Atari era in the 80s, Amiga era late 80s/early 90s, PC DOS era (early 90s) and PC Windows era late 90s/early 2000s. After LCD monitors became the standard the games started to be garbage...
I've always asked myself why the games industry seemed to completely forget the space flight sims genre. Games like X-Wing, TIE Fighter, Starfleet Academy and Klingon Academy (just to name a few) were hugely successful at their time, and there's plenty of players out there who would happily give their money for an up-to-date version of these games !
IMO the best one was Tie Fighter. But of course it's even older, and so the graphics are even worse on todays standards. Alliance takes the second place :)
Loved this game. A true classic! My favorite was the combat simulator where I spent hours making my own space battles with numerous space ships and fighters to choose from!
I remember really liking the Azzameen family storyline: the strained ties, divided family members, the last minute evacuation, the correspondence with your siblings.

Revisiting the game with XWAU Project mod. Having a blast - from nostalgia, excitement and that bandit on my 6. The true spirit of Star Wars, a quality game and characters I grew attached to even though I only know their voices. Just amazing.
I loved X-Wing, Tie Fighter, and XVT, but Alliance is above and beyond my favorite. I loved that they were able to weave a fairly interesting and original story into the events unfolding during the GCW. With the new mods from XWAU just damn.

This game was freaking awesome. Had all of the action and excitement of the first 2 X-wing games and added an really compelling storyline to it, along with good side characters. A great addition to the EU. An expanded / adapted version of this story could have made an anthology film far better than what we got with Solo.
I broke SO many joysticks to this game as a kid, and boy my dad was PISSED! Lolz. All I really did were the simulations but this game is on my top 5 childhood favorites with Ocarina of Time and (If were including my teenage years) the ORIGINAL Battlefront 2 for PC and PS2. Other games on my childhood favorites: Jedi Knight and Mysteries of the Sith, Grim Fandango, and Full Throttle. Hail to the oldschool Lucas arts games. (I know Ocarina of Time is Nintendo, but it was that game and X-Wing Alliance that really sold it for me back then.)

You know, those CDs fill with demos? I played that demo like 100 times. A few years later I had the chance to play the full game. It was the first game from the x-wing series that I ever played.

But yea, I had so much fun just trying to fly every ship I could in tje simulations, then went to challenge myself against star destroyers. It took me forever, but I can easily say one of my greatest and fondest gaming memories was finally beating the super star destroyer solo. No allied ships, just me and it. I used a Skipray Blastboat loaded to the teeth with proton torpeedoes.
VR is included in the XWA Upgrade project. Check Google and you’ll find it. There are a couple of issues with the aiming reticule and field of view, but they’re doing a fantastic job modernizing a 20 year old game. :)
When i installed upgrades to my computer, the game run slow (drop FPS). I had a really hard time dealing with this because of the SSD that i used from the project. The video was about the original game, anyways.

These expanded universe rebel ships…. look Disney, this is how space battles were supposed to look like. Worse quality and they still did a better Show than all movies 7-9 together. Yea 9 will suck too, dont even have to see it.
The spacebattles in the prequels sucked too (espacilly in episode 1when a kid saved the day). I am a bit biased because i love the ot the most but it seems like it is the only era where good space battles hapened.

But the prequels meh… actually I really like Episode 1. I often thought about that movie, what should be different. Like instead of Jar Jar being clumsy, he should have been banned because he killed people, sounds way more badass. And for Anakin, he should have just been older already. Millenium Falcon itself is a classic yt-1300 commercial ship, very modified. The ships you pilot at the beginning are also modified yt-1300, just way less modified. You can see the difference, because at one point you can pilot the actual Falcon and it has 2 turrets instead of one and has better speed and manoeuvrability.
the movie people really need to set up their scenarios in this game, get real humans to fly the missions, then re-render with better graphics. I've never seen anything to compare with a full on multiplayer mission. Epic

1. At least back then, in their website you could download only individual models. I'm not sure if they still allow this. 2. It's the SSD, but those ships inside the hangar I added manually so it's not like that by default. 3. SHIFT+F records everything so we can later replay the gameplay. This is crucial because first I play the mission and then I replay everything with a lot of control so I can capture the video.

I'm glad you like it. It was hard work. I play the game and record the replay. After that I play the replay moving the camera in the right place to screen capture the shot. After that is a lot of editing.

I'm glad you like it. It was hard work. I play the game and record the replay. After that I play the replay moving the camera in the right place to screen capture the shot. After that is a lot of editing.
