Started riding in Nov and was on my first bike, 2005 CBR600rr, in Dec. Never so much as sat on a bike before MSF. I hear a lot of people talk about no slipper clutch on the 600rr but I don't know what I'm missing, not do I find the clutch heavy because I have no other comparison. Just gonna learn on a bike without any creature comforts and love every minute of it. Great bike to start on as long as the head on your shoulders can manage the throttle hand. Great video. Honest and informative.
I have an '07 CBR600RR, same color. All of the comments in the video are spot on. This is a really good explanation about the bike, especially for someone new to supersport bikes, or considering stepping up to the RR. I would *not* recommend this as a first bike. But later on... this is my favorite possession.

just bought the same bike :D and to add to your "having no ABS story" you are right. you really have to learn it. the big trick here is that when you want to stop you have to make 2 opposite motions for front and back. you start with 'slamming' the back hard and give less and less pressure (almost completely release it) and after 1 second (when your weight transfers to the front because you brake in the rear) you start slowly giving brake pressure in the front. Your back wheel will always brake out (lose grip) if you brake on it too hard without there being weight on it. so: brake in the back, less and less over time + just after weight comes to front, start braking more and more in the front. maybe you already knew this and didn't explain yourself properly, but i just wanted to share :) thanks for the review
Please don't slam the rear learning. We lock the rear up easily for fun at low speeds it's also good practice for those oh shit moments. If you do lock the rear at 40ish panic won't be as bad. Sounds like you want the CBR650r. That is smooth in the low revs for town/city riding but also has good torque. However it comes alive over 7000rpm. So it’s the best of both worlds. Plus it has a slipper clutch & ABS.
@@HaoVu1 that would feel very windy. It’s no bad thing though. It takes the weight off your wrists etc. The CBR650r is the fairing version. They even do the Matt black like your old 500.

I had a 2008 cbr 600rr brand new and I miss that bike. It was the most raw powered bike and power most new riders don't expect because of the no abs and no lift control. New riders think they are great riders until they ride a bike like this.
I was at a bike meet and the clutch for the 600r was so hard to pull. I am definetly spoiled by the 500r's slipper clutch. But both bikes are beautiful regardless.
I don't think I could do without a slipper clutch. The slipper on my ZX6R feels a little heavy compared to 500R. But then rode a friend's 2003 or something GSXR1000R and I was shocked how hard it was to pull. It sucked just holding it in at a stop sign. Plus, don't have to pull in clutch every time on my ZX6R with the quickshifter (up only). Both nice features.
I got this bike as my first ever, I'm doing great on it, with the power thing, yea ig so, but it feels safer to be able to get away from cars that fast yk? And yeah, the clutch was tough at first but I'm used too it now a few months later

Nice vid and lovely bike , but you still sound a little unsure on your choice of getting a supersport. I think the 500r was a bike made for you tbh, no one enjoys relaxing riding / touring on a supersport.
Compared to the CBR500R. When starting from a stop, how is the difference in torque at low RPM? say 1K-4K RPM. Is it about the same? Or does the CBR600RR feel sluggish until a certain point? Also, is it possible for you to do low speed maneuvers with the 600RR by feathering the clutch only (no throttle) easily?
It doesnt feel sluggish it does 0-60 in lees than 3.5 seconds. Low rpms like that id still say it has an edge over the cbr500r but its not crazy. Low speed maneuvers are not easy for me, requires more practice and effort on the RR
Sluggish in first gear is not a thing. You cannot put all the power down in 1st without stretching period. 2nd out of a turn can get you in alot of trouble if your a little aggressive. The 500 is not comparable in any way. 600 and 1000s are massively different. A 1000 will be almost no learning curve if you ride a 600. 500 to 600 two different worlds.
