This phase actually got me scared, imagine Amumu going mad and saying like: "well, since i can't have any friends, i might as well kill everyone" Somebody get Amumu a friend before he kill us all
Is it possible to get sad, because you are happy all the time? Like you never get sad and you are sad about never getting sad because you don't want to be perfectly fine everytime?
Amumu is a mummy child that has one goal: to find a friend. But he is cursed to literally never find one. Anyone/anything who comes near him will be cursed with bad luck and eventually die. It is even more sad because not even the literal personification of death in the LoL universe want anything to do with him, not even death can cure Amumu from his curse. In other words he cant die and will forever walk the lands of Runeterra in search for that one friend be desires but will never be able to find. Or something like this is how his lore goes as far as i remember. (too lazy to check so probably is wrong lol)
Tbh all u need yo know if he ever finds a friend, they'll die. This even applies to irl n the real game. If the amumu has just 1 friend/teammate who knows how to follow up on his ult, the whole enemy team can just be wiped
The origins of Amumu are rather vague iirc. He might've a prince of Shurima whose family was infected with a very lethal disease. He was quarantined and his only friend was a servant girl. When his last sibling died, she went into his room to comfort him, which resulted in her death. Her grandmother blamed Amumu and cast a curse on him. He also could've been a young Shuriman emperor who often mistreated his subjects. At one point he delved into a tomb to find an artifact that grants eternal life, but his slaves trapped him in there when he went inside. Or he was the only Yordle Shuriman emperor who wanted to prove that humanity was kind, so he dressed as a beggar to see how many humans came to his aid. When no one did, he died of heartbreak. They all end in the whole loneliness curse business.
Amumu's probably the most depressing champion in any game. He's basically an immortal little kid that kills anything that gets near him just by proximity.. That's reflected in his abilities in game too. He cries and does damage to stuff around him. He shoots his bandages at people to try to get closer to them to give them hugs. It's even more sad because it's reflected in the community too. He's a champion that needs help early on, and nobody ever wants to. Every time someone seems him selected, they know that they can't depend on him to help early on. He often gets picked on by enemy champions. When he tries to run at them, they all just run away. He really can't have any friends. That being said, once he gets to a certain point in the game, if he hasn't been kept in check he becomes an absolute monster. Nearly unkillable, stuns everyone near him for what feels like forever. He can single-handedly win his team a fight, and all he needs are friends to come help clean up.
When i started playing LoL back in (2011 or 12, idk exactly) my friend from school helped me getting into the game with Bot games to learn the champs, items and mechanics. Amumu was the first champ i ever played and i played him everytime i trained knowledge and gameplay in Bot games since then. He has a special place in my heart for that. Wait, oh shit do i have to die now?! After getting into real pvp, my mains are Annie as Mid, Morgana as Supp, Warwick as jungle and Miss Fortune as ADC. Never play top cause i suck at that.
Amumu is a champion that has no friend, everywhere he goes he " kills" everything, cuz he can't control himself. His dreams is to have at least one. Nice Video
I guess people wanna see your reactions/breakdowns because you actually have a lot more knowledge about music than an average person and focus on it instead of the visuals. At least that's why I started watching your videos. I did try to find someone else like you to break down League music or some other stuff I'm interested in, but I'm either bad at searching or they simply don't exist. @@paulchan5142 so I watched a couple of his videos to remind myself why I stopped watching. The fact that he's a rapper doesn't automatically mean that he breaks down music or vocals. He reacts to the visuals, not music. And if we're talking visuals, there's a youtuber, T B Skyen, who's an actual illustrator with some knowledge of filmmaking and League itself, he makes videos half an hour long, an hour long, breaking down every aspect of the animation and visuals. The use of discordant melodies, the off tempo rethemes, and the vocalist's cries of agony in the climax drive the dissonance in the mummy's heart. The dynamics of this song hit me in the feels every time.
There was a behind the scenes of this one, where it showed the dude in charge spending *SOO* much time with the performers to make sure the Tantrum (the "explosion) was perfect. And Amumu is one of the original characters made 10 years ago! This song was a "just cause we felt like doing it" type of project. Just really shows how much the people in Riot genuinely care about their work
Actually... Everytime I hear watch and listen to this song... Im getting tears in my eyes. Its as if I am cutting onions but it just wont stop... I feel so bad for amumu.... His story and his neverending curse.....
This song gets me emotional everytime… Amumu was cursed to be alone forever; if anyone tries to befriend Amumu , they will experience great sorrow and grief- even death. Such a sad boy... the vocalist for this song really brings justice to Amumu's lore.
this is honestly one of my favorite songs riot has done, its a lot different than most and its just so beautiful and sad, poor amumu, also the "bad" ending of it is actually nice, even though i really want amumum to find a friend lol
I recomend you to watch (not reaction) "Frequencies - The Music of League of Legends". The best part was watching the recording session with the vocalist (also the composer and producer) and the cellist. Literally gives me goosebumps everytime I find myself watching it again.

In the game Amumu is normally classified as a tank. He has a lot of abilities that allow him to engage fights for his team, tank damage, and dish out damage in turn. His ultimate snares everyone in an area around him and appears similar to his tantrum within the video (the drop). Amumu’s lore is quite ambiguous since he isn’t fully explored. One things for certain, he’s not gonna be a happy boo anytime soon sadly :/
So I hadn’t heard this song before coming to this video, and I just gotta say it’s nice to hear the instrumental input from Joey while personally I focus on the lyrics and vocals. While I don’t professionally do music or whatever I HEAVILY research and dive into the musical realm just because it’s a hobby of mine, and I can hardly function without music. When this dude started singing my jaw DROPPED, and him explaining the instruments (my hearing isn’t finely tuned for instruments, but vocals I can definitely pick apart) made the production make so much more sense of why they chose what they did.
Glad you reacted to this song. In my opinion, this is one of the best songs Riot has ever released, even if it was 5 years ago. The song perfectly mirrors Amumu's story and even his in-game abilities. I don't know how hard it is to show emotions through the notes since I am not musically educated, but you could feel the emotions throughout this song even if you don't know anything about League of Legends and its lore. The classic build-up in the music that Riot releases is probably used the best in this song because of who Amumu is, it just perfectly fits. The instruments when the song reached its peak were so messy because they represent each emotion Amumu felt when he could no longer keep it in, and the cherry on top was the perfect voice of the singer who managed to sing it both sadly and angrily when needed.
Joey's analysis reminds me a lot of ZeRo's analysis in Smash videos "So what happened here..." "There's a lot going on here..." "What actually happened was..." I just can't get enough of it because of the laughs xD
I love this song so much. Gives me the feels. The story is so sad :( And yeah, Amumu is cursed. He doesn't have a happy ending. Also Joey, I love watching your reactions. You pick up on sounds I haven't even noticed, so watching it with you is like rewatching it for the first time! Thank you

keep doing this videos! pleasee!, i always click on them just because its league, but i end up leaving knowing so much more of music and music prodution. Love it!
A definite sad song, especially with the old lore and new lore coming into play. Old lore was him getting to a building known as the Institute of War, which lead to him finally getting friends who could help him know who he was. The new lore is sad because he has no firends and there are three, one of them being likely his back story of him, one being a boy who was sick who later got a friend killed and thrown into a tomb. The second story is him as a evil ruler who tried to get a artifact before becoming trapped in the tomb and now trying to make amends for it and the last one is him being a Yordle who's trying to find a good hearted person to help him. Sad stories to read. Also, it will be cool seeing you play League. I also know there's a new KDA song coming and this. dotesports.com/league-of-legends/news/rumored-new-league-champion-seraphine-releases-cover-of-kdas-pop-stars

btw, i missed my mummy content. i'm gonna go play some amumu top tonight tnx xD
Also the very loud point it built up to represents his "tantrum" which is a move he has in the game.
"curse of the sad mummy...sorry mummy" lolol poor amumu, never got a happy end
It's not really a 'music video' but you should listen to Dark Cosmic Jhin Login Screen - such a masterpiece
When amumu yell he ultimate I never knew that until now since you kept pausing it.
Thankyou for doing this one ❤

"Oh no happy ending... That sucks."
I just understood that amumu ulting is litteraly his ultimate cry for help
I've been waiting for so long mannnn. But ...WORTH IT !!!!!!
ALL WAYS AND I MEAN ALWAYS WHEN I HEAR THE SONG I GET CHILLS
Out of the songs LoL has put out, this is one of my favorites and I get chills every time! Haha... the Pentakill albums are fun, too.
I did not know you'd ever do this one. It's by far the SADDEST LoL (league) song ever.
As we fall would probably be the most awesome for the next one
I always forget how much I like this song
Go watch the documentary "frequencies" from League and go to around 45 min ish and just listen to that cello poppin the fuck off. Absolutely wild
I know it's being commented a lot, but "As we fall" is a really good League song as well! You should def check it out some time.
Love this song Thanks for the reaction
amumu: "i thought you'd never pick me." forever alone 🥺
Oh wow I was just listening to that and remembered there was reactions by you on other lol music videos/trailers and searched for one about this, turns out you made reaction 4 hours ago.
I recommend reacting to Hazbin Hotel's Addict, Aphelios's theme and Volibear's theme.
my fav song riot ever did, i just get the goosebumps when ever i listen to it! so goooooood i love it!
for me it is one of the best LoL song (with mortal reminders and warriors) with great visuals. Damn, I remember pretty much whole lyrics after all those years ;o and I don't even play lol for like 5 years...
I did not expect a League of Legend reaction... but I appreciate it, lol!
I love these vids. Thanks Joey
this song is in my play list for years :D
I think that Riot Games put up a video a few years ago about their music process and this song was like one of the main parts. It was really interesting. Not sure if it's still up or if I imagined it.
you absolutely need to hear 'light and shadow"
