One video of Diana's, in my sight, is a total masterpiece the like of which I don't remember ever seeing before in my long life. It's a must see for anyone that loves singing with unending emotion. The background of the song is essential to know. The title of the song is "Ornery (or "Fastidious" or "Finicky") Horses". The song has nothing to do with horses in reality - the horses are being used as a metaphor for life. Btw in that show judges literally started forgetting to press the buttons when Diana was on stage! They were hypnotized by her voice & performance overall. The song "Rechenka" (affectionate from the word "river") is a Russian folk ritual wedding song. There is a version that this song appeared before Christianity, and since early Christianity and paganism were closely intertwined, there are many versions of this song. It tells how an orphan girl comes to the river and prays to the spirits of nature. The song is about how my mother, father and brothers were killed by enemies, there is no one to take care of her. The river in Ancient Russia was considered the border between the world of the living and the dead. You hear an ominous whisper, it's the spirit of her late mother responding to the girl's crying.
There are about 30 variants of this song, but the content of each of the variants is based on the sad appeals of the orphan bride to her deceased parents, asking them for "blessings" and help for marriage, for family, to strangers.

Yes, it's an ancient Russian folk song.
This was the third of four performances during her appearance on the "You're Super" show when she was 14 years old. It was a talent show for children who had been without parental care for some part of their lives. Her first song was in French, Dernier Danse (Last Dance). Her second song was in English, It's A Man's World. After that one, Igor Krutoy encouraged her to do the third song in Russian. So she sang Rechenka, and it made her famous in Russia. The fourth song was Tomorrow Is A Lie, in English. She then was voted the winner of the contest by the home tv audience by voting on their cell phones. At the winner's presentation ceremony, Krutoy surprised everyone by giving Diana and her mother and grandmother an apartment in Moscow so she could attend a performing arts school.
