"Shadow and Bone" is also one of my favorite 2023 reads, along with every other book in the Grishaverse (the main books and short stories), except for the two I ended the year part way through and need to finish, "Rule of Wolves" and the "Language of Thorns" book of short stories. I went into these books not sure if I would like them and was surprised by how much I've enjoyed them. 🙂 About the Darkling, without spoiling anything... I detest him, however he makes a great villain.
@@tabithagabrielle5432 - I also look forward to your thoughts on the later books. 🙂 I definitely agree with your thoughts about the Darkling. His character is terrible. If you have any interest, Tabitha, there is a little short story called "The Demon in the Wood" that's an interesting backstory of the Darkling as a kid, that explains how he turned out the way he did, and how the Shadow Fold was created. This short story can be found at the back of the Ruin & Rising book (at least the paperback ed) or read online for free in various places, and is best to read any time following Shadow & Bone. 🙂
I read Salt to The Sea in Jan and loved it too. I love the way you do your reviews. Glad I found your channel through Search of Wonder video. I had Shadow and Bone on my TBR earlier but didn't get around to it, but now you have me interested in it again. Thank you for some great recommendations!!
This gave me lots of good books to add to my TBR! My sister really loved Salt to the Sea, and your review + me loving another book by Ruta Sepetys last year definitely means I should be getting to this one soon! That thriller sounds so interesting! And I live in Idaho, so I feel like I just have to give that one a try too 😂 And that Penguin book looks adorable! So many good recs. Also, you might be giving me the push to try a few more popular YA series that I've been avoiding...😅Thanks for sharing! -Amelia
A Voice in the Wind was intense and epic and her writing ripped me up in the best way!❤
YESSS 😭❤️
Ooooh Shadow and Bone. I’ve never ever read it and I wondered if I missed the hype train years ago…maybe not!
Great video!! Voice in the wind ending is definitely a tragedy 🤣
😭😭😭

I'm definitely interested to see how I feel about the Darkling after finishing the books... So far I'm still very stubbornly against him. 😂
