- Hey everyone back again with more Scrap Mechanic! Today we are looking at a custom built logic engine that features an overheat function that will cause it to explode if it runs too hot!

U shoule use this on a gearbox when u hit too many revs it overheats so u gotta switch gears in time and the gears also work like irl

That would be cool but you would also need a drive shaft to have that in the first place. I don’t know about scrap mechanic so much but it looks like it’s directly connected to the wheels.

Fr0stySkull saw another one of his builds where he actually did a driveshaft but it was a piston you just create a differential to power the tires.
You should make a homing swarm missile (missile that breaks into many missiles near impact) and a self aiming mortar.
You should replace the explosive block with the flamethrower from the Modpack Beta mod.
That would be more realistic, then if the fire continues. .. boom!!

Idea:
*COOLANT!*
Create a consumable number system, but used for a sort of coolant system instead of fuel. While the car has coolant, it heats up MUCH slower than normal.
Anyone like this idea?
The design is supposed to be compact and compatible for cars.
Adding coolant would just be too much effort and not worth it for its cons.

Idk why there was a fan on there then the radiator fan is for the coolant to cool the pistons

can you do a race with a motor that gain speed during the course?
Like at start the speed is [starting speed that I don't now] and it gain [number / seconds] but you can't reset the speed during the course. Or maybe you can reset your speed at a station like the gaz motor.
That will be cool!

Dear kAN! This video inspired me, about making an engine, with gear transmissions, depending on the gauge, then a turbo at 250, with which, you won't be able to stop the car, beginning to overheat faster, triggering more thrusters, the bigger the gauge would be, overheating faster, going through more stages, and when it would reach something like 450? it would explode. (also, the bigger levels of transmission would enact faster fan speed)
i added rapid fire turrets using logic to your trophy truck, how do i send the link to you coz i wanted to show it to you.
This is like in the show top gear when if you go the wrong way your car explodes in the old person's car episode.

This is pretty cool! But I had this interesting idea. An engine that takes damage when you crash. And when It takes too much damage, it blows up. I needed an engine like that for one of builds, but I am terrible with logic blocks.
You should hook up sensors to the gauge and the fan so that when the fan is not destroyed it will go up at a slower rate, i imagine hooking the sensors up and when they are on it stops it from increasing the heat would be the way to go. Also, instead of making it explode you should just make it unusable, making you have to replace it instead of having it destroy your vehichle.

Ok so two ideas:
1) using the same basic setup/idea create a modular engine. Rods/pipes each add more power so the more you stack the more torque you get, but more heat. Blowers/fans/filters each add heat reduction, again stacking just adds more. Plus any other parts do other things.
2) MM race using modular engines and drafting the parts like the junk draft. Using the modular engine to do an engine part draft, as well as having to draft a chassis, wheels, seats, and so on. Rules are no adding blocks, but you may remove/cut parts or weld them. When doing the draft don't just add them to the vehicle, Instead put them in the garage. Maybe grant a bit more time for making the creations look good and hooking them up.
You can make a race, but you have to keep the flames on. If they go out you lose, If you explode you also lose. Would be a fun Multiplayer Monday
This engine should be used as the power source for the cars in the next multiplayer monday

Multiplayer Monday would be AWESOME with the engine
You could connect the overheating to the engine power, so if you set it stronger it will overheats faster. And when it starts to overheat it could lose some power.
It would be fun if you made more engines!

You should extend this concept to a manual/ stick shift. Once you reach a curtain temperature shift to a higher gear so you can go faster with a realistic aspect.
a more realistic engine wouldn't overheat by running smoothly, but would rather overheat more in a state of over reving

It’s possible that the thrusters create extra downforce, but that also makes jumps harder
kAN id like to know how you'd make a clutch, im working on piston and thruster engines and id like to be able to idle, and that will take a clutch, i could make an on-off clutch, but id like something with friction more.

You should add a component that you can use to cool the engine down really fast to have a longer run
For drag racing you just need to change W to gas, and add a break. But you need coasting for the driving.
Maybe you could make a block that, when you press a switch legs pop out and it walks using individual switches you turn on each pair of legs individually so to turn left you only turn right side on and vice versa for right
I think you should do a race with Scrapman with that. I think it would be a very interesting race, sense the engine explodes.
i know i´m pretty late on commenting, but just out of curiosity: would it be possible to invert the spinup of the engine fan? because on a real car, the purpose of the fan is to keep the air flowing towards the radiator if you move too slow (because theres no wind hitting the radiator).
You should build a dise l turbo so instead of heat it is rpms and once you reach a high rpm level the turbo spins up and gives you more power.

You could use the RPM and power setting to calculate the speed at witch thé temperature goes up and manualy count the number of "radiator piece" for the cooling speed . That would give more possibilities and maybe you could race with other having vehicules vastly different . And maybe let it cool at all time so if you have enought radiator you don't realy need to worry

i feel like this would work better as a boost rather than a regular engine. It would make it so that you could drive normally and then boost for a few seconds and if you over heat it would slow you down and explode.

You have to add a cooling system that if broken will cause the engine to act like this. The coolant system could breakdown and you’d have to get out and reset it like your fixing it.

You should ahve put it into a hot rod. Plus this just reminds me of FF 7 where dominic Torreto races in a rat rod and he overheats the engine and it blows up. Only OGs remember

How do you tune the overheating time to make it last longer?
You should add hydro cooling where you have to add water (press a button) every now and then.
Hey kan do you do any sort of mechanic work? I do that line of work as a hobby bit I'm thinkin on quittin my current job to go out to the local ford dealership
The overheating should depend on the velocity.
If you go faster there‘s more wind which stops the engine from overheating quickly by cooling it.
Make a plane or helicopter out of it maybe add it in such away that you can switch your main engines

Im not home with my computer and it will be over a week till I will we it again but can you try to make a engine that has gears? Like when you shift up you increase the speed and down the power

There should be a mod for cosmetic thrusters (that dont emit thrust, only a flame and sound) for this engine specifically

Kan if you see this please make a engine with all the engines youve made combined like fuel different sreeds and overheating and then put switches on it so you can choose which systems to have on
Maybe make the overheat time longer, so if you dont notice the overheat, you have some time to react, maybe add a beeping too.
You should add something to help cool it so it's realistic and when the cooling down thing runs out it will start to overheat
