Wait so i can feed them flakes? Most of what i read online is that Ranchu can commonly suck in air from the top of the tanks when feeding floating food. I hate to spend the money it cost to buy a Ranchu and then i lose it to Swim Bladder Disease..
I didn’t mention it in the video but what I do is add some flakes to the aquarium and a coffee stirrer I agitate the water which causes all of the flakes to sink and float in the water for a while.
I have a ranchu myself. I tend to feed them with tajuna frozen bloodworms which sink to the bottom, and tetra brand goldfish food which floats. So that way he can share his food with my other goldfish, which is a pearlscale. They live in a 35 gallon tank, with one pleco plus a bunch of smaller fish like rummynose and zebra danios.
Hello Marinel. Thank you for the question. As far as feeding times. That’s usually the owner’s preference it all depends on your schedule. I feed mine early in the morning and do an occasional treat a few hours before lights out. Just be sure not to overfeed. The important thing is to keep a consistent time of feeding. Of that can’t be adhered to then I recommend an automatic feeder.
I wouldn't house them together as their water parameters are different. Cichlids are tropical fish where goldfish aren't. There are some Danios you can consider as well as a few other fish. Check this out ruclips.net/video/9eH1msrbrHE/видео.html
Hey Adam. Thanks for the comment. I always appreciate them. If we search online they are always recommending 10 gallons minimum. Yet I don’t follow that guide. In the video I mentioned at least 20 gallons. 🙂

I'm currently keeping 1 ranchu (appx. 1.5-2 inch) with 2 danios. Even though danios are fast swimmers, I don't see competition between them. And danios do not harm the ranchu. ^^ I'll separate the danios when the ranchu got bigger.
Not exactly... They are all the same species. Subspecies, sure. Species? No. There is an important difference. It is the same as saying strain vs species.

You can feed them flakes but when feeding then put it under the water. I stick mine half way in the tank. That way all the flakes are mid tank.
