640hp Turbo Honda Prelude Racecar, With Parts off of a 747??

- Unlikely time attack cars are our favorite kind of time attack cars. And the Honda Prelude is definitely a car that you wouldn’t expect to see duking it out with Vettes, Evos, and the like. But with all the right parts, like a 600+ hp turbo’d H22 putting power down to some 315 width meats, this home built monster is well on its way to surprise more expected machinery.

What is the name of the song at the end of your videos? Asking because my two year old loves it
So glad he kept the H Series
Legot was gonna say this
100% what a cool build
These would have been so much more popular if there was more aftermarket support for the h series
Own a stock 2001 SE really enjoyable car overall
First thing i was looking for
This and the fourth generation Prelude are the most underrated Hondas of all time. All the new tech was dumped into these and people were afraid to pay the premium. Long live the Prelude!!!
The prelude I like the most of the version with 4WS, that thing will turn better than anything else your against
4th gen Prelude was a step brother among all gens, it looked nothing like the other Preludes but it definitely is a Honda.
As a 4th gen owner I agree 2060%
Finally a PRELUDE! The world isn’t so fucked after all 🤩
world is fucked up cause we finally saw PRELUDE lol
The 5th Generation Honda Prelude is _THE_ best-looking street-legal consumer sports car ever made by Honda. It's also one of the best handling sports cars ever made by Honda. I love Preludes and more people should appreciate them!
I have a ludeeee toooooo 🙌😊
@@metanumia 4th Gen prelude has entered the chat room. 4th Gen looks better in my opinion. Many others feel the same.
@@TheBb6prelude Yep, well said. 4th gen is too sexy
One of the most overlooked jdm cars of all time! Preludes are a gem
They're sold everywhere not jdm boy
@@billygribble9939 you're so dumb Honda is JDM preludes were only made in Japan btw and they were shipped to the US
Hahaha I can tell it's Japan made. Mine purrs like a kiten.
Feels so nice to know the Prelude isn't really forgotten yet.
Not completely cuz it’s almost there unfortunately but aye knowing the jdm community as a 4th gen prelude owner everyone better get them while they are still cheap before we have a s2000 situation
Thank you for keeping the H22!!
Yeah them engines are cool af
I had a pearl white 99 Type SH when I was 17. It was my dream car and I got a job, made the payments, and couldn't' have been happier. An SUV ran a red light and hit my drivers side door, totaling the car. I miss it. This video brought back great memories, even though the car is so heavily modified and gutted, there's still some soul there. Thanks for this episode.
That is a hard loss fwd drive cars have the hardest lives. Because they get the least appreciation. You seemed to love yours though.
This Prelude inspired me to go full race car on mine. Shout out to WRD Racing
Bro I just got a 4 gen prelude as my first car, what are some good first mods?
@@cheba_1 if you plan on autox it, learn how to drive it first in its stock form.
@@Hakuna_My_Tatas fair enough, yeah auto cross seems fun but honestly I wasn’t really planning on doing ta or autox just a fun canyon carver
@@cheba_1 guy above has really good advice, even Takumi mastered his 86 in stock (BuntaSpec) form before anything. Start with a good set of tires and practice heel toe-ing if ya managed to get a manual trans
Restoration is the money. Don't fuck it up
As a prelude owner this made me very happy
I love seeing the roof flex at high speed. That's some real racecar shit
I was starting to wonder where are all the Preludes? Preludes are the hidden Gem, glad to see this beautiful beast LONG LIVE THE PRELUDE!!!!!
I had a chance to spend almost a whole day with Cory and his dad Bruce. Alongside with their crew these guys are straight awesome people. To see their Prelude in person is insane.
Never clicked on a hoonigan autofocus video so fast. Great prelude. Thanks for filming it Larry.
preludepower OG right here
The WRD guys are some of the nicest people I've met, every single one of the people involved with this car is just good people. AND they just smashed the FWD record at Buttonwillow last weekend at GTA! They're killin' it!
I have NEVER been a fan of Preludes, but THIS is the siccest prelude I have ever seen. Super dope.
You need to look at more preludes
People all over finally realizing just how Super Dope Hondas are. For the OG Honda Kats..we been knowing though, Salute!! 🙏
Me and my old man rebuilt my prelude transmission because it would just eat differentials up.. every time I see a old machine it remains me of my dad🙏🏼
Love the intro music, Hoonigan does it right! Thanks Larry
Do you know what the song was called?
@@Nigel_Tberry +1 on the song name request. It's a pretty dope beat.
The sun shining through the weave on the roof is a nice touch
Very sick Prelude - 5th gen has always been my favorite. Who else misses the 1990s JDM cars? Not a big fan of the style the newer model cars have taken - maybe its my age showing and I'm just being nostalgic to happier times.
Such an awesome build. Glad to see somebody still using an H series
H everyday
It was made to be a salaryman's "sports car" in the same way the Celica was a "sports car" after the 80's. The engines were the same as the common hatches/sedans but the body and suspension was changed/upgraded. The reason they weren't popular is that they were expensive compared to cars that came with the same engine/output and because of that there wasn't nearly as much aftermarket support. Look at the difference in support of the AE86 to the Celica A60/T160, same goes for the EG/EK civics and the BA/BB Prelude. It's a mad build to be sure, but there's a solid reason you didn't see many.
Honda’s will always have a special place in my heart especially the prelude
It's like the dohc zc motor of the Hondas because no one ever does stuff like that so it's always good to see something different or something better and something that somebody created with their own hands hell yeah 🙌💯💪😎🥳
Nothing but love for Preludes, this is rad.
Thanks for that video!!! I couldn't belive that I see mu boy dream car in this role, you bring me back in the time, in this 20 min I did feel young again. Thank you!!!
Ive been following Cory on IG for years. So glad someone finally did a feature on this Prelude. Thank you sir !
My prelude just went up in price cuz of this video
I remember driving in this car, before it got quite the upgrade haha.
I remember when he bought it
Pretty badass. Ludes finally getting some love! #theludeabides
9:00 Totally agree I love the look of the older hondas and especially the late 80's accord. My best friend drove that car all throughout high school and I really want to own one someday.
Hell ya man! I have a 1990 Accord 2.0si exclusive coupe (CB6) imported from japan!
Nothing like a Prelude. Owned 2 of them, 95 SE, and still own a 94 Si. Easily over 100k miles in between the pair. Such a pleasurable machine to pilot. It just feels...Right. Makes me giddy to see this build, at all, much less with an H-Series as it should be.
Props for keeping the H series alive.
Sick ass car , hope you cover that spoon civic in the background too
Just had the pleasure of meeing and sharing a garage with the WRD Racing crew at Buttonwillow this weekend at the recent Global Time Attack event
Can not emphasize enough how insanely nice these people are. Do yourself a favor and if you see them, go say hi!
you know things are going wild when you read about 747 parts on a car :O
Wow... never seen a Prelude setup like this. I love it!!
he's smart to use a type sh body, the suspension geometry is fundamentally different in the front. the base model uses a lower control arm and and radius arm that bolts to the lower control arm, then going to the knuckle with 1 ball joint. the type sh uses two lower control arms (although one is still referenced as a radius arm) and each has its own separate ball joint, or two ball joints per knuckle not including the upper control arm ball joint. I own a 2000 Premium White Pearl Prelude type SH and it makes me so happy to see people really pushing what the platform is capable of.
I clicked on this with the quickness! Love preludes.
Finally a Prelude.. I luv that body style & now know how to make it look & run great .. Excellent video.
I'll never understand why people don't give the Prelude the clout it deserves. I own a 4th Gen and when I say i out handle every RWD car I encounter on the back roads, I'm not even joking. And once I'm boosted (with just 300whp, not to mention the 420 shooting for), I would outrun 392's all day. It would take a Hellcat just to keep up. 💯
Love the Preludes, so underrated!
So stoked to see an episode featuring this car, definitely inspiring me for my build.
This is probably one of the most badass sounding and looking Prelude I have ever seen.
To think that I met you by racing you on the freeway, to taking you to our 1st time attack. Watching this build and all its battles has been amazing 👍🏽 glad to be even a small piece to this huge project.... LETS GO!!! WRD
Awesome! I still daily my 97 Prelude SH that I also bought back in 2003. Fun car even bone stock - and crazy reliable too.
Ludes will always have a place in my heart. They were born out race inspired Honda philosophy. My favorite body was the 1991 3rd gen. 2.1. Si with 4WS. It was a head turner which I owned for 10 years 👍👍👌
Love the Prelude, that's one of a kind in the world.
This Prelude is a real prelude to the future. Inspirational. We'll be seeing a lot more being built up now. I'm all for it. Great job WRD.
I’ve built 3 ludes, and 1 integra. Lude my fave build. The handling can be insane. It’s heavy but it’s a savage.
I’ve also built 240s and g35s, both were trash…if you can’t hook, there’s no book…
I got so much heat in an FB group for my opinion of prelude over any Acura product
Prelude is the only Honda I ever liked. Well, the Integera Type-R as well. Square lights in GT on PS1. Dayum. I used to just love watching that sexy yellow beast on replay going around them corners.
Love Preludes. I have one myself it was my first car love. He’s correct too these have double wishbone suspension you won’t get on Accords. And the engine sits lower to the ground and you have a sort of wedge shape. I never got why people complain about them being heavy, meanwhile they’re happy to build a 4-door Accord which were always heavier than Preludes.
What a beautiful machine. Glad to see people haven't forgotten about this car. Good work👍👍
Content like this inspires me to work on my Cb7!! I will run time attack someday but gotta be able to drive the car first
It’s nice to see a prelude around !
Love this prelude inspires me to build my prelude more
Literally my build inspiration
makes me miss my 5th gen but this is a PROPER build right here
love the attention to aero, much overlooked
Had the pleasure of seeing this car in person & it’s definitely a wow factor!! True beast!
This makes me want to just “ruin” my daily 😂😂
Fuck these cars are finna go up in price now , thank god I’ve already owned a 5th gen and currently own a 4th gen
5th gens have always been slept on.....underpowered stock but incredibly balanced cara from the factory, such a fun car to drive even in factory form or more mild setup. This time attack setup is so nasty.......❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥
I still have my 97 prelude .
Love them Prelude
Best body style of Honda.
I’m in love with the prelude suspension. I agree that it’s better than any fwd Honda. Especially the rear end! Owned preludes for 8+ years
This really makes me what to bring my f23 accord back
Respect for keeping the H... underrated and under-noticed! I'm so sad I sold my 4th gen... I'm an idiot. edit: also the Lude was the greatest Honda between the original NSX and the S2000... I had a dynotuned JDM H22A and M2B4 LSD, with poly bushings, etc... I have a couple dyno videos on my "channel" lol.
Still have mines the exact same engine an lsd transmission in the original 4th gen JDM Si Vtec Prelude
@@stainless6278 You smart bastard, lol. :) Enjoy. I have an e46 and NC miata... fun, but I miss the 4th gen Lude!
Always loved these 'Ludes, super cool to see this one in action.
AWESOME feature Larry!
Super Awesome prelude H22A Turbo
Watching this video 2 weeks after my timing belt snapped and 2 days after I sold it is.......rough. I daily’d that prelude for 10 years.
Larry's right about these and the Del Sol being the unloved pair of '90s Hondas. Despite that, though, they're still insanely fun cars just from stock, let alone built up.
I say it every dam time Cory. PRELUDE PROUD! You've been getting hot the past few months. Seeing the Lude on a Hoonigan thumbnail has to be the milestone. Congrats and continue to kill it! 🙏💪
Super well sorted race car
aaah yes, nothing better than seeing a racecar version of your daily driver ripping it at the track
Prelude is underrated.
Somewhere theres a 747 flying around with Prelude parts on it.
Its nice that FWD's have been able to show that they are FAST and very consistent. RWD is probably faster on most tracks, but when traction is an issue (in the rain, dusty track etc) a FWD can put the power down more predictably.
FINALLY A PRELUDE GOOOOOSSSSHHHHHH
Modified h22a all day,my favourite gen 3 prelude h22a swapped
What a beautiful engine bay
I was hoping cory would get a video, hell yeah!
it feel good to watch this video!!!
My favorite Honda right here. Should have bought one when I had the chance.
Man!!!! looking at this Prelude brings back memories, I used to love my Prelude had 200k+
Know the car is in Central America🤯😩
"Honda really knows what they're doing when it comes to performance, I didn't want to disrupt any of that" *builds full blown time attack car*
That's possibly the world's best looking prelude
H22 !!!! I own a 01 Prelude its my second one (first was a 99 SH) such an amazing car to drive... I wouldn't call them fast but its definitely quick and they look so damn good...
Even at stock I was doing well over 135mph. Took its to get there but comfortably. Even in 5th, it feels like it needs a 6th gear.
Bro....H2B + Awd= Gameover
H the way let's go!💪🏾🖤💯🔥👨🏾🔧
Literally my Forza build in real life 👍
More Will Plz.
I never understood why the 5th gens weren't as popular as the Civic's and Integras at the time. Meaning, the Prelude look's way better and far more sophisticated than the other two, not to mention, a way more powerful engine and has better suspension.
I've always wanted one ever since they came out in 97 and i finally got one. The driving dynamics is impressive even today. I take it up to the canyons 2 to 3 times a week. It's a driver's car. "Drive one and you'll understand!"
They were heavier and more expensive so peeps bought the cheap and light civics,I have both. I have a 92 si hatch,a 2001 prelude,5 speed and a 2014 Civic coupe 5 speed, love em all. Greetings from British Columbia 🇨🇦
Heavy cars. They are cruisers
@@scottchelmford7136 heavier? Yes! but not by much. But it doesn't feel heavy and it drives like a sports car. But do you OWN one. or have DRIVEN one? Only then, you can make a comparison. Don't even mention about a Civic, because they're not in the same ballpark, unless it's a CTR from Japan, or an Integra GSR for that matter. I've pretty much driven and owned most Honda cars from the 90's such as an 88 CRX SI, 92 PRELUDE SI, 93 PRELUDE SI, 95 PRELUDE SE V-TEC, 2001 CIVIC, 2001 AP1 S2000 (BEST CAR EVER!) and now a 97 BASE PRELUDE. And as far as driving dynamics, it's the closest to my previous S2K.
@@reysamson3145 you’re right, I have an 01 Prelude that was built in October of 2001 so it’s gotta be close to the last one ever built because that’s very late in the model year, people ask if it’s for sale all the time and I say no. It’s a 5 speed with leather interior. I love the solid feel of it over any Civic i have too. 🚗
@@Whateva67 nice! Me too, my Lude gets plenty of compliments which i find amusing. But the more you look at it, it starts to make sense. With CLEAN bodylines, it's WIDE and LOW to the ground and has that anchored down look to it. Mine is BLACK on BLACK for that SINISTER look! For as old as it is......it's not too far off from modern sports car's with similar price.
Amazing car been following it for years good to see it on camera
My dad had a prelude si when I was a kid
Perfect track build, makes me want to build a prelude or an accord
Let’s go prelude!!
