      @@deed5811 Thank you, Dee. I have received a few angry messages on previous videos from people who seem to take offense at me pausing. It's reassuring to find people like yourself, who actually watch to get the opinion of the person analysing. It's also what I enjoy when watching similar videos, myself. One of my favourite channels is Lost In Vegas because those guys discuss at length what they're listening to. :) Thank you!

      @@JWSoundworks2 LostInVegas is who really pulled me into reaction channels to begin with. What I’ve come to realize is I watch reactions for 1 of 2 reasons (or ideally both at the same time): 1) re-live my discovery/first-listens vicariously through others who have the same/similar thrill and enjoyment to the music as I did; 2) listen to someone with a deeper knowledge of music than me describe the song in a manner that lets me become aware of what my ears were hearing but I couldn’t identify or articulate.
      LostInVegas nails #1 (and #2 in a less expert kind of way), and I’m happy to say you nail both #1 and #2 completely.

    LOVED your reaction! Every time I hear/see Nightwish perform live, I am struck with how otherworldly they are with everything that goes into their performance - the songwriting, each of the band members' mastery of their performance, the stage setup with pyro and all the rest, Marko the bass player's singing, how well Marko and Floor blend, Floor's presence on stage, her command of the audience, her ability to tell the story of the song, her absolute command of the many styles of singing she uses; and she never ever misses a note. Out of all of that, I find something new and wondrous every time I watch a video of a Nightwish song, no matter how many times I've watched it.

    Real talk: your channel is my new favorite music reactionalysis channel. Your passion and knowledge of music really shines through your videos. I saw you already acknowledged the speed of this version. As I’m sure you can tell it’s a small enough amount that the track sounds normal for a first listen, but big enough amount for it to stand out for follow up listens. The “correct speed” link others provided will treat you well.
    It’s a big request/recommendation, but your comment about the choice of the setlist order always being an interest to you compels me to make it: you should consider doing the entire concert in setlist order. Or maybe circling back and doing a full concert play through after you’ve spent more time in NW.
    This show was about 10 months after Floor first joined the band mid tour as a guest fill-in. So for many people in that 82,000 crowd, this was her unveiling performance as the NW singer. All that being said, there was something truly magical for this entire night. The set and setting was perfect, the timing was spot on, some kind of stars aligned,and most importantly the crowd sacrificed enough crowd surfers to the band as tribute to fuel the performance for it’s entirety.

      That's really nice to hear, Nick. Thank you for sharing that. There seems to be such an extensive catalogue to the band it's a bit overwhelming where to go next. I like the idea of a full concert reaction but would need to set aside a bit of time for that. 😁👍

    Thanks for a great reaction - I’m new to your channel, so Hello! :)
    This whole concert is pure gold - so you won’t hear any of us fans complain if you decide to do every song from Wacken :D
    If you do decide to do more songs from that concert (please do!) - why not start with the first song of the setlist?
    It’s called Dark Chest of Wonders - it could be super fun to watch you experiencing how Nightwish does openers ;)
    Oh, and just FYI, this song is 17 years old now, so imagine how much Tuomas (the keyboard guy) has evolved as a songwriter since then ;)
    Also, since you’re a fellow Opeth fan, I’m pretty certain that you’ll really like the way that many of Nightwish’s songs are written - explaining why would make for a very long comment, so guess you’ll just have to take my word for it for now, lol.
    I’m really looking forward to continuing on this musical journey with you :)

      @@JWSoundworks2 That cover is a doozy .......David Gilmour even said it was the best cover of his song he ever heard.
      Metal Mozart tuomas' keyboard playing is very attentive, Marco's singing is magnificent and Emppu's guitar solo really gives David Gilmour a run for his money. Drummer Jukka's performance is passionate as ever, although he (alledgedly) was drumming through a heavy bout of migraine. Seeing how during the rests he was leaning over his drum kit holding his head seems to confirm this. I would also not be surprised if this migraine was brought on by knowing that at the end of this specific concert they would be telling the original singer Tarja they would be letting her go. (I know; pretty speculative, but it seems to fit)

The Wacken 2013 concert does not a have a pee break song for the entire show there will be something worth watching for you that will keep your interest the entire show. There are so many songs to suggest but I’ll pick ones people haven’t put up yet. Weak Fantasy, Dead Boys Poem, Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean. Would be my suggestions outside finishing the holy trilogy of songs that Ghost Love Score is a part of.

      It's been my favourite movie of all time for about 20 years now. I must have watched it more than 50 times😂 . A few other films have tried to jostle with it for first place but it's still holding it's own for the time being!

    Hope you keep exploring Nightwish - so many surprises and great songs to hear. I see you know now it was the slow version - it really is a high octane motivating song at the right speed lol. If you want to get hyped it's a good one to listen to ;) at the correct speed that is lol.
    Thanks for the reaction!

    Longtime Nightwish fan checking in. Did you know that Floor was called in as a replacement singer for Nightwish? It was mid-tour in 2012 that a previous singer wasn't working out. There is a documentary on the transition called Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours. Anyway as of this concert at Wacken 2013, Floor was not yet officially named as a member of the band. it's just incredible her own personal journey in the music business. You might spend some time looking up more about her, if it interests you. Liked and Subbed! More Nightwish please! With Floor! \m/

    Welcome to the beautiful world of Nightwish. I've been in love with this band for 20 years now, and they never disappoint.
    I have a suggestion for a song to check out. It is not one of their "staple" songs, and there aren't too many reactions of it. It's called "Slaying the dreamer". Check out the version from Buenos Aires show.

    GLS was later in the concert. Couple of songs. It's also an older song. GLS was released on the fifth album (Once) and was originally sang by the first singer Tarja. Tarja also sang "Wish I had an Angel" and "Nemo" on the same album. Both songs were in this set list where Floor sang them. Tarja also sang "Everdream" and "Bless the Child" on the Century Child album. As with many bands, fan favorites often get worked into the set list. The set list here was:
    Dark Chest of Wonders
    Wish I Had an Angel
    She is my Sin
    Ghost River
    Ever Dream
    Storytime
    I Want My Tears Back (Empuu plays practical joke during part of the song and she lovingly stares him down - she's tall/he's not)
    Nemo
    Last of the Wilds (instrumental if I recall) Costume change for Floor
    Bless the Child (minimal costume malfunction under her left arm)
    Romanticide
    Amaranth
    Ghost Love Score
    Song of Myself
    Last Ride of the Day
    Floor (third singer) was not yet an official part of the band. It was pretty evident she would be. Trying to remember - last day of July into early August, so this was likely in August for them. Floor was hired in October to finish the tour after the second singer was fired. You might find it informative to look up "Learn the set list in 48 hours" to watch privately (it's long). Troy was also not a permanent member. He plays all sorts of instruments including Uilleann pipes (elbow pipes), flutes, guitars (or whatever they are). He also sings.

    Thanks for an excellent reaction/analysis vid. You have a very nice style. Me like. About watching the whole concert; my suggestion is that you do the whole concert song by song. There are great songs like the show starter "Dark Chest of Wonders". Now there is a show starter song. Btw Ghost Love Score was song number 14 or 15 in this concert which tells how crazy good Floors voice control actually is. So, whole concert, song by song. Go!

    Hi! First of all; love your reactions! And yes, you must pause often, otherwise how can you analyse/explain stuff that I miss!? If I want to hear the song uninterrupted, there's enough ways to do that.. 😊 Also, having explained to me (who is not in any way, shape or form a musician) by a talented and obviously skilled musician that this band is doing amazing stuff, validates my love for them in a way...☺ The fun is; I don't know why I am so blown away by Nightwish, but I really really really am! You are too, but do know! Another subscriber here, yes Sir! My only regret is I didn't find your channel sooner. Have a good weekend!

    The 2013 Wacken concert of Nightwish is legendary. Floor was still new to the fans. So imagining that this was the first experience of Floor to this crowd makes the concert even better. 2013 was a good music year for symphonic metal. Epica has their own uber concert too that year. It was called retrospect for their anniversary. They play with full orchestra and choir. You should also check them out. Design your Universe live retrospect is a good start....especially for guitar.

    I think you are gonna be a huge fan of this band, and the composer, Tuomas he plays the keyboards and writes 90-95% of all music and lyrics, is referred to by many as The Metal Mozart. Every song is a different ride and journey, and I have yet to hear a song by them I did not like. Some I like more or less than others, but all well-written and performed by true masters of their crafts. Good reaction again, and enjoy the ride.

  • @adrammelech6323
    @adrammelech6323 3 года назад +1

    Great reaction\analysis as always. Most orchestra arrengements for Nightwish were done by great Pip Williams and recorded by London Philarmonic Orchestra. I don't think Tuomas knows how to write sheet music for orchestras, he writes the orchestra part but on sinth, he makes demo tracks on his Korg with a lot of notes on what he wants from the orchestra and sends it to Pip who turns it into something orchestra can actually play. And he never scored a movie yet(not counting their own movie Imaginaerum). But Tuomas does write almost all music and all lyrics. Only exceptions would be couple songs written by Marco and Emppu, guitar solos that he never touches, some bass lines written by Marco, etc

    • @JWSoundworks2
      @JWSoundworks2  3 года назад +2

      Ah, thank you for that. I was led to believe in some of the previous comments that Tuomas had composed orchestral arrangements for Disney. I know it's generally the case that professional orchestral arrangers are drafted in to do those duties (when contributing string arrangements to rock and pop albums). Appreciate the info here. :)

    • @adrammelech6323
      @adrammelech6323 3 года назад +2

      @@JWSoundworks2 Oh I can see where confusion might be from. Tuomas is a fan of old Disney comics and wrote solo album based on Don Rosa's book The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. Orchestra arrangement for it was done by Pip Williams as well. I highly suggest song Lifetime of Adventure from that album. Also Tuomas' wife Johanna Kurkela sing on there.
