I just replaced the XAT stage 2 clutch and it’s worth noting that a much better combo is as follows: 20lb flywheel. SPEC Stage 3+ clutch. Motul CMC/slave fluid. Pennzoil Synchromesh MT fluid. Compared to the combo I went with in the video series, these parts provide a much lighter pedal feel and much more “factory” experience. It should be noted that per XAT, if you go with the 20lb FW, you DO NOT use the flex plate spacer.
I’ve been waiting on this video for ages! I’m trying to convince my dad to do a 1UZ VVT-I and a manual swap on his IS300 Sportcross, the 2jzge is kinda toast in it lol. Hopefully this video convinces him though lol, seems fun!
@@ssjdavid 2j has more aftermarket support but 1uz is a way more superior engine, toyota literally invented it as a motor cross platform and forgot about it 2j was never supposed to have the potential it has
Great video. I have been looking forward to seeing you post this series. Not sure how your cruise control is set up but I hope you get it figured out. I could not live without it. Most of my past manual vehicles had cruise control.
I recently learned about HelmHoltz resonators aka J-pipe to eliminate drone thought i should mention it since i remember you had issues tuning the exhaust
Hype train for this series. I should just do the same thing since I’m replacing the transmission in my gs400. I’m just getting a trans from the junkyard tomorrow to swap in.
Episode 2 should be the pedal install. No need to go to a hand brake as the OEM brake pedal is fully functional as-is with the Supra MKIV clutch pedal. 😎
Hi there, do you by chance have an updated link to the Toyota Landcruiser clutch master cylinder? The one that your link takes me to says it is a 5/8" bore. Thank you for your time!
i have found an ar5 from a Colorado 2005 and the tail look slightly different from yours. what car and year yours was sourced from !? thank you so much for theses guides.
@@bigbadlouroma just be sure to consider all the support products needed to make whatever trans you’re interested in to work. Even with kits out there for my AR5, it raised my cost significantly.
@@ForwardMomentum yeah definitely thanks for putting out this content really appreciate it. I found a cd009 kit from collins where they include a brand new transmission
Yes sir, the one I'm looking at is from a 2006 solstice with the tail housing mount. Not side mount. Definitely been making sure thanks to your videos man!
No way I could do a manual swap, I wish. Plan on adding any power later down the line? I have a 2001 GS430. Will follow your channel closely if you do.

Fuck yeah
**crickets**crickets**
Been looking forward to it once I saw the teaser! I have the exact same car, color and interior
Spreadsheets! Excellent - it's not just me that does this!! Really looking forward to seeing you progress.

Why?? The 1UZ has no upgrade potential. 2jz is the far superiors tuner engine

Liked the video before the ad even finished, great f... Content!
Nice planing explained! Looking forward to the next episode man
Was a bit caught off guard. Hell yeah!

Holy i was just thinking about swapping my 430, this is god tier
Love it, can't wait to see it unfold
Excellent video, can't wait till next!!
I need this , never thought this was possible
The new GS400 Goat lol
Nice work, I am definitely doing this to my dad cinabar for him!
Looking forward to the end results good luck love your vids
Its imperative that I do this to my Ltuned.
Nice man! Good luck!
very nice!! i own a tt aristo and have had thoughts of using this transmission
Thank you kind sir, Didn’t want to steal my Supra’s R to do it and I thought the CD was just wayyy too much
Love your videos!!!! This really help me a lot
Will you have a video of the clutch pedal install? Will you be converting to a sc300 hand parking brake also?

Bro!!! Love the content am doing the same swap on my aristo
Nice! That would be my dream tbh; a 2JZ TT with manual in my car. So much more potential than the 1UZ!
Dope vid! looking to get a GS soon either a 430 or 300 why are these 400s so rare
Only produced for 3 years and sales numbers were not insane.
so sick man!

Shoot, sorry I don’t. I hate when AMZ does that.
Was the link updated yet?

Mine: 2006 Solstice as noted in EP1.
@@ForwardMomentum dang i missed this thanks a lot !
No worries. It’s in the vid description too. 😎
Awesome video! Did you ever consider the 6R80 transmission?
Thanks. Isn’t that a Ford F-150 automatic?
@@ForwardMomentum I believe it’s also on the mustang

Not sure if you've covered this or not, but how many miles did the AR5 have when you purchased it
It was an estimate from the seller, but 60K mi is what I was told.
Not bad at all. I'm looking at one with 42k. Was just curious. Thanks for the fast reply dude.
Anytime. BTW, make sure you’re NOT getting the side mount version of the AR5. I would also personally avoid the truck versions as well. Good luck!

Snatch that up!

I don’t have concrete plans yet, but headers and potentially a SC’r are possible.
If you like your exhaust note, then driving manual in slow traffic is a feature
Plus with my lightened flywheel I have to rev it up a bit. 😎
@@ForwardMomentum Yeap, has one in a very rumbly Subaru. Every time I crept forward in traffic: “this is niiiiice” (queue the “feels good man” meme)
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Could you drop a tremec in a Lexus?
Yes. Grannas Racing has some I believe. Only 2JZ adaptation though I believe.
What’s the price I need to learn to drive a manual ASAP
It’s on the spreadsheet in the video. ~$4400.
Will this set up work for my 05 ls430?
Some of it, sure.
You should’ve done some donuts
Bro can I ship you my car! Its been sitting in my garage for 4 years!
A free GS? Sure, I’ll take one!
@@ForwardMomentum pay you to do the swap.
@@bking5037 I wouldn’t do this again for $5000 cash. 🤣
This needs to be said.. DO NOT GET A LIGHTWEIGHT FLYWHEEL & AGGRESSIVE CLUTCH IF YOU PLAN ON DAILY DRIVING YOUR CAR.
You’re correct. For an experience that’s factory-like, a 20lb FW and full-face, sprung clutch is ideal.
