Led flashlight upgrade

I have these old battery-operated flashlights. They're good flashlights, but they have these old incandescent bulbs that suck, they don't light well and they use up too much battery power.
So I replaced the glass bulb with LEDs of the same size. The LEDs have the same voltage of 3 volts (two 1.5V batteries) so I don't need to use resistors to lower the voltage.
Original lamp: 3 volt and 0.5 amp
P = 3x0.5 = 1.5 Watts
LED: 3 volt and 0.03 amp
P = 3x0.03 = 0.09 Watts only!

Better than the job I did. Bought a MagLite replacement led kit with an led bulb with 2 very fine wires. There was a replacement insert too. I couldn’t get the new screw on insert to screw on because I was pushing against the spring inside. After a minute or two of cussing and fighting I had managed to break off those very fine wires inside the new adapter. I’m down $20.00 for a bulb that was worth maybe $2.00. The light still isn’t working.😮😳🥺😢 Great lights when they’re working though.😬

you need to use a series resistor to limit the current or led will be burn soon or too much power consumption

Fiz esse procedimento. Algumas observações:
1 - Se possível, comece a conversão usando lâmpadas de qualidade inferior. As de boa marca dão mais trabalho na hora de tirar os restos de dentro da base (entre 1:18 e 1:35). As da GE foram mais chatas nisso do que as chinesas, mas a que mais deu trabalho foi uma da Phillips. O vidro é tão grosso que precisei usar as duas mãos para pressionar o alicate (isso porque tenho mais de 1,80m e 110 quilos).
2 - Se a lanterna for daquelas que usa uma bateria de 6 volts ou um adaptador para 4 pilhas D, é necessário inverter a polaridade do LED. Nessas lanternas, o polo negativo da bateria é que toca a base da lâmpada.

Bought a new Eveready D cell LED Flash light at Home Depot . $8.87 for 2 pk and possible to retrofit with adjustment the led part on circuit board for my older S22 or Bright Star 2D flashlight . I’m going to try buying a few different PR20 LED bulbs on Amazon for $6 .
