I hope Trey watches this. Of course him and Troy have a solid brotherhood, but it's the way he told the stories about the come up. He really gave him his flowers, and I hope he knows that his music is still loved by so many. I'll l never forget the day I became a fan.
Same here o was cleaning my house when his song Gotta Make It came on the radio. I stopped, sat down and listened and he was my Son from that point on lol
I was mentored by Troy as a songwriter for two years......there's nothing in this interview that I didn't hear at some point as far as development. I dropped the ball but I'm grateful for his belief in me as a songwriter. Shout out to Troy Taylor!!!!

Troy was that producer that I listened to and studied. When I got a chance to meet him I played him 100 tracks. He listened to all of them 😅. Mind blowing experience.
This episode was incredible. Troy has been an incredible mentor to many, myself included but moreso my brother who produced IN THE MIDDLE on Trey's 1st album. He always took the time to explain and teach the whys and the history of music. His collection of physical music (Cds and Vinyls) that he pulls from at a moments notice to really SHOW you is extensive. He taught us that the perfect notes are great but the FEELING and the PASSION is whats most important and what connects with the audience. He is forever a LEGEND and I'm grateful to have known and worked with him. Dope Episode #TTU
Watching this all the way from South Africa 🇿🇦 . This gentleman's contribution to the R&B universe is immeasurable, thank you Tank and J. Valentine for creating a space for such stories to be curated and documented.🙌
That “Can’t Be Friends” story is such a great moment in describing a trustful artist/producer relationship. Mario Winans needs to be on the podcast. What he did on Tamia’s debut album prod “Rain On Me” and “Never Gonna Let You Go” is pure r&b genius. Oh wow to hear him mention Jeff Lorber i can relate as a producer. His albums are so well put together where every instrument is highlighted plus he's an amazing arranger & composer. BET Jazz used to be one of my favorite shows to watch on Sundays and there's an episode he's on.
Thank you both Tank and Troy for really acknowledging Beyoncé’s vocal ability. Her talent as a vocalist and technician is one of the best! The execution, the versatility, the delivery. Thank you because I feel like people forget

Tank, I attended one of your shows a few years ago and you asked the crowd which song they wanted to hear. I was in the front yelling, 🗣️“Your One! We can say R Kelly's name. We ain't gotta code it as "Mr Sir". Yes what he did was fucked up but i really hate that we have an R&B podcast and we talking in code when we talk about R kelly. His contribution to R&B is significant. I hear many R&B and gospel artists take from him in one way or another...especially thier vocal choices.
And this is one of the reasons why R. Kelly got away with what he did so long. It's okay that Troy DOESN'T want to say his name. R. Kelly is a predator. Who cares to boast about the contributions when he hurt women and children?
