@vcdecide Thank you for uploading these amazing PSP racing game video indeed these Ridge Racer PSP is sooo practical and you can even drift and do 360 Drift anyway, thx man
This Ridge Racer 2 on the PSP isn’t much different from Ridge Racer 1 on the PSP, which people at the time compared to Ridge Racer DS on the Nintendo DS, which is actually a port of the Nintendo 64 version. And it’s true that it’s easy to pull off a 360-degree spin on a curve and keep racing (though it costs you minutes during the lap, which is why I only did it at the finish line).
I have a suggestion. Would it be possible to cover the PS2 and 360 versions of Burnout Revenge, even if you have to mute the game's music? I have yet to see what's different between the two versions.
When launched on PS5, some light processing has been removed and is not as flashy. The Ridge Racer series is also about unrealistic glitz and glamour, so other than the resolution, the PSP would be a better choice.
PS3 Controller visualization for PSP. Nice. The time counts down faster on the PSP version. Also for a 18 year old game on a 20 year old handheld it looks quite good. One of the track sponsors is Astaroth. Possible Soul Calibur reference.
Many people don’t know, but the PS3 controller (DualShock 3) is natively compatible with the PSP Go... which essentially turns the PSP Go into a home console when connected to a TV along with the PS3 controller. That’s why the DualShock 3 is represented as the PSP’s controller, even though the PSP doesn’t have L2, R2 buttons or a second analog stick.
I noticed something. 8:14 the Lap Times and Overall speeds are faster on the PS5 side. Granted synching up to perfection looks really difficult. That probably explains the pause 2:48 on the PS5 version.
The pause at 2:48 was to sync the music... otherwise, the music would have been out of sync throughout the entire video. Each video, each situation, each game-syncing choices can vary. I always run several tests during editing to ensure the best decision.
Biggest difference seems to come from the reflections in the car, most likely the reflections are still rendered at the original resolution making them seem lower quality, overall it's a minor trade off. PPSSPP seems to have the same problem, so probably not a trivial fix EDIT: well, nevermind that, it is possible to fix the problem on PPSSPP, the problem on PS5 seems that is that it's barely a 4x increase (1080p) and the reflections are notably low resolution at that scale, but they do increase alongside internal resolution, so the actual solution would've been to upscale the game to 4k, then downscale to 1080, this would make reflections look very detailed and better than PSP, but instead it seems they applied a bilinear filter to the reflections which causes them to look worse than native on PSP. The PS5 does have more than enough power to emulate PSP at 4k and then downscale, I should know, it's what I did to fix the problem and I have a PC worse than the PS5
Interesting comparison. The PS5 wins on resolution, but the PSP artistically looks better because the reflections in the glass (and bodywork) are very subdued in the PS5. It looks like they've mixed down/faded out the reflections and so have lost their intensity (dull washed out colors intead of bright punchy colors). This isn't how reflections work in the real worlld as they should be an additive layer rather than a mixed down opacity layer. Very strange choice from Sony if this is real PS5 hardware running this?
If Namco had done it for the Dreamcast as well, it would have had the same look as the PS5 version: same graphics as the PSP but with better filters and resolution...
mine WILL read them- but i wouldn't press too many buttons or hold it without the lightest touch! wish they'd port Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins to something...
PS5 higher resolution plays against the emulation, as psp postproduction screen textures get misaligned, should have left the original 480x320 of psp. The car reflections are also severely muffled as the transparencies, inexplicably dull. PSP is the BEST portable console ever (Switch is hybrid, so doesn't count, despite being a technically superior machine, is on the verge of portability, and PSVita just didn't fare as good as PSP did 😅)
I never thought I would ever see a PSP game vs PS5 game comparison 😮. Thank you VCDecide for this video.
Kinda surprised that the PSP looks better; at least the car does.
On PS5 forgot about small details make game nicer to eye
Its kinda funny though since PsP computer chips are from over 20 years ago and struggles to play some file types 😂 compared to what the PS5 can do 😂
@desimunda66 its shows how PlayStation are lazy now 😆
How does it look better? the only difference is that psp one is pixelated af.
Psp is an amazing handheld
PSP was overtaking her times😊
PSP bitter lighting reflections!
Shading is off on PS5.

Too much bloom on the 360 version
@@NewGabeOrder think simple… PS2:Reflection better
Xbox360:Texture better
Main thing is the feeling of the steering, if they can get it exact on ps5.
Pls come on Bandai namco, we need a New Ridge racer

@@vcdecideThat's right I remember those Sony ads! The PSP had potential but Nintendo had dominance over handhelds.

I play with the retro filter because the GUI has weird artefacts in HD.

That makes sense. Especially the music. I was more focused on visual feedback then the audio.

The music was so good. I beat the F out of this game. My eyes a drawing to left. More pleasing.

The PSP game was literally made to be played a 4.3 inch screen.

I wonder if there's any difference on the PS Vita/PSTV.
considering the fact that the vita has psp hardware in it, it should probably be identical to the psp
glad this came to PS5- my PSP hates UMDs!
UMD’s were a bad idea for gaming handhelds in the first place. It’s why Sony went with carts for PS Vita.
Mine too, thankfully CFW is your friend.
Mine does, but it's hard not to be nervous playing lol. I think it was a neat idea, but it died with the PSP for a reason. Not very practical.

Modding a PSP is pretty easy to do and it increases battery life to not use UMDs
Sony!! .... Please give us a new Ridge Racer game !
NAMCO owns Ridge Racer. Tell this to NAMCO, not SONY.

How to downgrade a game on a 50 times more powerful console than the original one was released on:
Step 1:
PSP is so cool.
