- SANTA MONICA: LA's most popular beach town, visited by millions of tourists each year. Aside from the Santa Monica Pier, this beach town has A TON to offer, from great food, cafes, parks, and more. Here's what I explored in a day in Santa Monica, California.

No lie, California is the BEST state in the country, weather, beaches, mountains, small surf towns, but yes it has some of the worst problems in the country as well.
Exactly. That’s what I tell people, California is such a beautiful state. But of course politics gets in the way of that 🙄 I hate politics, not my thing. I just enjoy life as much as I can.
Palisades at sunset overlooking the PCH is a dream! 😍
really is💭
Welcome to my hood! I love SM! Come back and visit Montana Ave, it's so divine and you'll see all of us just locals hanging out!
This kinda created harmony - snowy NY day outside, candy cane candle and warm sunset of LA inside 🧡
You missed my favorite part of Santa Monica... Montana Ave! 10+ blocks (between 7th and 17th Streets) of unique shopping, restaurants, cafes. Almost no chains. Great vibes, totally local, zero tourists.
oh yes, great street!
I've lived in Santa Monica for decades and I love it. Temperatures here at the coast have been moderate all summer, delightful, Once I was in the valley and the thermometer on my car dashboard said it was 107 out, by they time I arrived home the reading was 79. The homeless are a big problem, bringing increasing violence. They gotta fix it but I don't think they know how I sure don't and affordable housing isn't the solution. So many of the homeless don't want the structure and restrictions if offered a deal on a place to live. They'd rather be free to do their drugs.
Affordable housing would help. But like you stated, some people want to exploit the program.
I really enjoy your hikes and spirit. Thank you for sharing Michael!
Welcome to my hood! Nice you see some familiar spots. Very lucky to have Palisades Park as my nightly walk with the dogs 🥰🥰
Magical place, awesome video! Visited 2x the past year. The only thing I disliked was the amount of homeless population. Couldn’t bear the smell in 3rd street promenade area and other areas both times and had to leave those areas. Such a beautiful place so I hope the city can be cleaned up and the homeless can be helped. Thanks for all your excellent videos, Michael!
Hi from New Delhi, thanks guys for the video, it brings happy memories of years gone by....I was there in 1996 - 98.
Thank you for making this!
Thank you!! I'm hoping to visit this Fall/Winter!
Great video as always. I’m watching from my remote farm in Dorset in the U.K.
Love your videos man! Going out to sunny LA next month and shipping over my e board too! So excited and your videos are so helpful!!
awesome! 😎
Keep the positive vibes going. Lots of questions to be answered ❤
I truly appreciate you. Its such a great feeling to see some of my favorite spots in your videos.
Question; what kind of e board do you have?
Thanks for posting! We're taking the fam to the Kia Forum for a concert and might stop by and check this out!
Good work, thx
Hi from the East Coast! Great video as usual! I love Santa Monica.
👋🏻☀️thank you!
Best wishes from blind artist in Hollywood! My husband describes to me youre vids)) keep going!
70% of residents rent yet the homeowners successfully block new housing which could lower housing costs for the majority. Definitely a microcosm for the rest of the state. I really wish California could get its act together on housing, public transit, and biking for transportation.
Im a homeowner here and new housing would lead to lower class people coming into our neighborhoods, its already bad cause of the metro. Don't make it worse.
I'm not sure what you're talking about. Everywhere I go in SM, they are building those mixed retail/residential buildings. If you mean single family homes, then yes, there's not much room for that...
@@SUPERMONKEYINDIA How can new housing lead to "lower class people" moving in? The rents pretty much make sure that that's not going to happen.
I love Santa Monica! When I am in Los Angeles next month, of course I will go there. If you get back there, you should visit the Santa Monica Stairs at 4th and Adelaide! There are 2 staircases, a cement one and a wooden one, people workout there all the time. They can take your breath away, trust! I am going to try and make a video when I am back there!
Michael, thank you for sharing. Next week I will be coming down fron Vancouver, this video was extremely helpful with exploring of great eateries/ coffee shops, as well Palisades park looks like a must. Given my hotel offers bikes, I’ll be cruising north to south and back. Any other suggestions are welcomed.
I kinda feel the same on Santa Monica. I prefer South Bay because it's more chill.
Today is a grey , cold day in Utah and this video made my day
One of my favorite places to eat there is Sol Agave , you even have vegetarian and vegan options , which are great
stay warm! ☀️Great spot
I miss it. I wish I could move my whole family out there and live the life!
You missed a stunning park, *Tongva Park* across from City Hall and a block down from the Pier. I have a great video segment of it on my channel in the 'Santa Monica Bicycling" video
Love Santa Monica.
Don't get the blue line at night, during the day is mental enough! A lot of the locals behave like the cast of Dawson's Creek! Shout out to Joey at Samesun! I thought muscle beach was in Venice? The little outdoor gym?
Hey, awesome videos! Where did you get this shirt? ❤
green tee=adidas, flannel=urban outfitters👍🏻
Great video, I was there in Sept. Is this filmed in Nov/December? If so, maaan I love the weather there
Late November! Warm in the day but gets chilly at night haha
Ugh I wanna visit Santa Monica so bad but it seems so expensive. I have to come all the way from Holland 😒
santa monica have lots of صدفات
Looks like Santa Monica certainly has coastal beauty, similar to Huntington Beach and Oceanside. Is it safe there though? I heard the homeless are becoming a bit of a problem there.
I saw the least amount of homeless people in Santa Monica out of all the LA neighborhoods I visited… which means I still saw quite a few 😂
I would love to see you have your own tv show. your so entertaining and a
very good Host.
wow thanks😂 maybe one day! 🎥
Hi Michael, great video full of information. I'll soon join Santa Monica College as an international student, and right now I'm looking for accommodation, do you think it is possible to get a 1 bed/1 bath for under $1.100? I'd appreciate your answer
Hi thanks! Truthfully no, SM is expensive with a 1bdr in the $3k range.
Which month was this video recorded?
November I believe
Body parts hurting for a nice day like before not like or just yesterday but 70's when it had to be a little better.
Thanks for another great video. Your fellow RUclipsr World According to Briggs listed Santa Monica as one of the ten worst beach cities in the USA. I get the feeling that you don’t share that opinion.
i think it's overrated, and on zillow the apartments are freaking expensive.
Sadly, the time to visit or live in Santa Monica was 20 or more years ago. In the last decade, the city has gone downhill quite a bit. Much of that has to do with a serious rise in crime caused by the train they put in, creating a direct line for undesirables from downtown LA to get straight to the beach and back. There's a reason residents call it the "crime train". Over-development and "densification" policies put in place by city hall are creating enormous congestion in town. Over 20 300+ unit apartment buildings that replaced much smaller structures in recent years have contributed greatly to the over-crowding in the city with MANY more of these construction projects on the way. That kind of over-population is crazy in a city of just 8 square miles. Homeless populations have exploded, and over half the stores on the Third Street Promenade have closed up. That's why city hall is considering allowing fast food chains on The Promenade now, which used to be prohibited. They're desperate to fill in some of the dead storefronts that retailers abandoned years ago. City leadership is a disaster, and Santa Monica is circling the drain.
thank you for your honesty, i am now leaving moving to Santa Monica ever. i won't even visit.
It's overcrowded and far to woke. I was born and raised there.
Hi,What is the best neighborhood to live in Los Angeles if we love the Beach and walkable area ?
Another great video!!! Loved the breakdown. A place I didn't think I'd like to visit till now. 🎡🍎💚
thanks!!😀
