Nah, its a respect thing you gotta call them chef because its not just like some sideline reporter, they're also teaching and judging them. One thing that I don't think they show about masterchef is that they get lectures, lessons and stuff through the whole season. Its like calling your college professor buddy. Michael is nice enough to let him know so he doesn't repeat the mistake over and over again.
@@gjfwang I agree with that, but I think what some people mean is that they thought that Chef Michael would've let it slide, since some chefs aren't so big on respect. For example, in the early seasons on Masterchef US, the contestants talked to the judges using only their first name.
Granted, they didn't call them "buddy," but there's less respect than if they'd call them "chef" instead.
I clenched my butt cheeks when he called him “buddy”, but then I realized it was MasterChef Canada and they allow that.

Similarly, gender as a social concept functions to identify whether a person identifies as male, female or neither. It may be the case that someone identifies as a male because they like to behave in a way that conforms with traditional conceptions of masculinity. What chromosomes they possess is besides the point. Similarly if a person is born with a disability that stunts their growth, but nonetheless develops into a normal height with the help of drug therapy, would you call them a 'midget', because that is what their genes coded for?

I like Chef Michael. He has decency and speaks to you like you are a professional. He has class, but he's not a pushover or an "easy judge". There were many auditions that the other two said "yes" and he stood his ground and said no.

Dusan Biga I’m not saying the title isn’t important, it’s just funny to me that some careers get a title and others don’t. Lots of people take years to perfect a craft. Ballet, painting, athletics. We don’t greet them by saying things like “hello dancer” or “hello artist”

Well the atmosphere is calm usually it’s very fast paced and tense.I think they didn’t hurried a bit that’s why everyone was left out with some components.
