- In this intense MasterChef clip, contestants face a critical knife skills challenge that tests their speed, precision, and organisational abilities. In just 15 minutes, they must master the art of "Mise en Place," preparing a range of ingredients to perfection. The pressure is on as home cooks break down a chicken, clean shrimp, julienne peppers, separate eggs, and peel apples-all in a race against time. The judges scrutinise their every move, seeking both speed and accuracy. As the challenge concludes, some contestants secure their aprons and a spot in the top 14, while others face the heartbreaking decision of leaving the competition.

Donavyn Fortin what is this a paradox
They should have shown how to do it and prove it can be done in 15 mins before they even challenge them to it.. i mean they are not professionals....
they showed the expected outcome for each food type
the techniques are not too brain challenging, especially if you just signed up for a cooking competition
all contestants had the same time to complete as much of the challenge as they could
they said 'you've got 15 minutes', they did not say 'you've got 15 minutes and if you don't complete it you're going home'
Patrick Barcarse the point is that all of those tasks aren’t supposed to be technically challenging, it was meant to show the judges their time management and basic skill.
Some of these are considered basics, if they show them how to do every little thing then there's no point.
They have to know how to do the basics if they showed them how to do it would take away from the whole challenge and each of the chefs could easily do it
If they wanna be masterchef, then they should practice things like this.
Jk its too expensive lol
Judges: 15 minutes is a time limit for the challenge.
Cameraman: let me disturb them by asking questions while they are at it.

Actually the time limit is actually based or even more their time in doing it so that it would be possible.
yes they can. theyre crazy fast and precise
They can. All chefs can. What they did are the first basics learned in Culinary school. “Mise en place” will be the phrases you’ll hear on the first day of school, along with “sense of urgency” and “clean as you go”. I would know cause I’m one of them as well. :)

Masterchef logic works like this:
Make the dough for a four layered cake, each layer having different flavours and frostings...
You've got 1 minute...GO!
Then complain everyone forgot the blueberries on the top layer, when the chefs only put maybe 3 blueberries in the original.
I don't mean to nitpick but to make a cake u use batter not dough. Dough is for things like bread, pasta, or cookies

it takes me 15 minutes to fillet a chicken, i can’t imagine doing all that in 15 minutes.

• deveins & clean shrimps
•peel and take out the core from an apple
