      Maria G your comment sickens me. I’ve seen all his videos and he shows such kindness and compassion. Don’t know what your on about with the “yanking” of the ear hair but that is way more gentle then a lot of the other groomers you find on RUclips where they grab and twist and rip all the ear hair out at once leaving the dog yelping. If you don’t like the content then don’t watch it, simple. Leave your negativity to yourself.

      Maria G. These two are wonderful to the unfortunate dogs they help. They are kind and gentle and what would be cruel would have been to leave him matted. If the owner doesn’t bother to brush or bath him then I am sure he wouldn’t take him to the vet to be sedated. Please think before you trash talk these two. They are well loved and respected. Be nice please!💖💖

    He seems really calm apart from when he's being picked up, like you said at the start and when you lifted him backwards just before he tried to bite you and you put the cone of shame on him. He didn't even react to his legs or paws being clipped, other than flicking his tongue out in a little distress. Such a sweet dog and I hope the owner gave you what they could afford. By the way, I hope Sanja is still saving her money for presents for herself in Egypt! 💗

  • @kiarimarie

    I'm glad people are contacting you, too. It might be some people who are too "cheap" to take care of their dog properly, but it might be mostly well meaning people who 1) are afraid to take the dog to a normal groomer at this point or 2) financially unable to afford the care but still care enough to contact you.
    At the end of the day, you are still helping a dog in need. Whatever the situation of the owner, it's not the dog's fault.

  • @LittleMissBettyPage
    @LittleMissBettyPage 2 года назад +56

    Such a shame. People don't realise how much hard work goes into a Hungarian puli's coat. The dreads need constant separating and rolling. This is what happens when you just leave them to their own devices. Great job as always 🖤

    • @kristypenner2753
      @kristypenner2753 2 года назад +1

      I was wondering about how to take care of a coat that is supposed to look like dreads. His didn't look clean or neat; I have seen dogs that have very tight and smooth dreads. It's too bad he needed to shave him. It must difficult to keep a dog like that properly groomed.

    • @LittleMissBettyPage
      @LittleMissBettyPage 2 года назад +6

      @@kristypenner2753 it is. It's actually a little similar to natural hair dreads/locs on humans. The hair continues to grow so every so often the locs/cords need to be separated and twisted to encorporate the new hair growth or things start to matt together or some locs may thin at the top so may need joining with another loc to make sure they don't break off or put too much weight on anyone spot as that can cause irritation. You also have to be careful to may sure the pulis cords get completely dry otherwise you can kinda get mildew. In pulis that is usually Less chance of mildew happening as the natural oils help with that a bit like lanolin with sheep's wool. Lint is a really nightmare too. Its hard enough as it is everytime I brush my fine slippery hair I still get a ton of kind an cat fuzz in my hairbrush so imagine having a show puli and keeping them lint free 😹I had dreadlocks myself when I was 15/16 (my passport pic for ten years 🙈) but they didn't last as they were so much more work than I ever thought they would be but at that age sometimes you forget to look to the future when you're that young and it can often be all about the now. I also didn't 100% understand how some people may see it as problematic being as casper the ghost shade of Caucasian I am(not exaggerating I'm so pale my skin is translucent and I have to mix white into the lightest shade of foundation as well as use white powder and never leave the house without factor 50 as I have lupus and any sun exposure can illicit an immune response and actually scar) with deadlocks. I'm not against that I just should have at least tried to understand the conversation first if that makes any sense? Any way whatever type of beautiful creature this beautiful hair belongs to it takes some WORK that should be applauded and is it's own special work of art. Apologies for the long ramble there. Suffering major sleep deprivation 😹 I just love discussing the variety of nature that shares our world. Hopefully the puli in this video may perhaps move onto another home with someone capable of giving theme their crowning glory back but at the very least if not, that she understands she must take him to gave a full "puppy cut" frequently so that they don't suffer like this ever again. 🖤

    • @byrnep100
      @byrnep100 2 года назад

      I agree with you. My sister had a black puli and she was always separating “tearing” the cords. It didn’t hurt the dog. She always made sure that the Veterinarian knew that the dog had ten pounds of coat.

      That is the natural weight of their coat. They are a corded dog breed. It is actually important it be thick. Their skin is at risk otherwise. I am actually quite surprised this grommer is shaving a puli as it is almost never recommended. That poor dog is going to be in more discomfort going forward. He chose the short cut instead of taking the hours required to properly bathe and groom such a dog.

He just went for it out of the blue. I'm glad he continued using the cone. I keep thinking how much better the dog must feel when every mat comes off.
      I wonder with dogs that are naturally supposed to have "dreds" how you know if it looks normal or they need to be removed.

    The Hungarian Puli breed is quite special - very smart and agile. In the show ring, its coat is supposed to be naturally corded and not brushed. But how on earth owners keep them clean, especially their backsides, is a mystery to me! Supposedly, many owners do a full body shave for summer.

    • @ranmakuro
      @ranmakuro 2 года назад +5

      I was just about to comment on how the dreads are wanted and typical for the breed (same as for the breed of Komondor) and not a sign of neglecting. It is made for protection from wild predators and weather as the Puli is a sheep protection dog, living outside in the field constantly. The dreads come when undercoat is naturally braided into the longer outer coat. So it doesn't make any sense to shave the whole dog. The only necessary thing would be cleaning up the butt area. Rest looks pretty normal. These dogs are made for looking dirty and they can smell badly when their coat gets wet. But that's just fine. A groomer should know all that before grabbing a clipper.

      @@libbyworkman1666 Still though this breed is supposed to look like this. It's harming to take that fur away. Just to be clear, this breed is one of the oldest in the world. Their heritage is likely 3000 years of breeding with corded fur, sources date the origin back to 900 AD. So just implying this might be a house pet does not necessarily reason to shave him over all. (To be fair, this is a natural working breed, not made for living inside permanently.)
      Please consider this is constructive criticism and not in any way intended to hurt feelings. This dog just needs to be kept in the way his ancestors used to be, what he is 'made for'.

    I don't think people understand how much work it takes to keep a Puli in good condition and the pain and discomfort to the dog when the cords mat. Maybe they just don't care. The owner had obviously never socialised the dog either which can be dangerous, especially around young children. Thank goodness these poor animals have you two - the Dynamic Duo 🤩. Great job and video!

    That sort of behavior is to be cautious of. It’s why many groomers in the US will not take a Chow as they are known to attempt to bite without warning.

    That was scary when he snapped at you, but as always you remained calm and got the job done. I could tell you really had to concentrate on staying safe because you weren’t talking much. Sonja was also very calm, but she wasn’t smiling as much as she usually does, still her gentleness came through and she got him to wag his tail and get a few cuddles. I love you both for the wonderful work you are doing. God bless you both for all you do.💖💖🐶🐕‍🦺🐕🦮🐩

      Regular muzzle allows them to open their mouths for panting etc. Not faulting him you do what you can with what you have, just a heads up that muzzles are superior for the animals comfort.

      @@tansiwolf8281 The tie muzzle is better at controlling aggressive animals and preventing serious injuries. Short term use is fine. How uncomfortable is all that (long term) matted hair?

      @@deeannafreshwaters3282 Puli is a corded coat breed, they are meant to have cords, or dreadlocks if you will. Please research, tieing tne muzzle does cause problems with the animal not being able to pant and cool itself adequately, as I said Understandable in his case and wasn't finding fault, but honestly, the other muzzles are FAR superior. If I had the funding I would gift him a few, I greatly admire what he's doing for these dogs, unfortunately I am disabled and my income is quite tight.

      @@tansiwolf8281 I am well aware that if you are not properly caring for a Puli coat that is dreaded that is far more uncomfortable for the dog than the short term use of any tied muzzle! If the dog had been stressed or over heated the dog would have drank the water offered but did not! Damjan made the correct call saying clearly that the binding of the muzzle was short term only.... aggressive animals are no joke and bites are dangerous. If that muzzle had not been tied a bite would have happened. I have seen many dogs get out of traditional style muzzles and attack people. Is the trade off, do you short term tie and groom or do you let the dog remain uncomfortable in matted hair? Matted hair and even groomed dreads are uncomfortable. As for the plastic collar, if the dog gets very serious it will not stop a bite.....vet clinic 101. You are right not to find fault in Damjan, it isn't his fault the owner didn't care for this dog therefore needing Damjan to help him.

      I am a fan of the "pay as you wish" concept for dogs with owners. Allows people to pay what is within their means. But I don't know how such things go over in Serbia, since I'm saying this from an American perspective.
