Good news! on the subject of Customers in the shop I absolutely agree that just anybody shouldn't be able to walk in and wander around! I have established a reputation amongst the shops I deal with (including GM Dealerships). They know me and know I have experience in Industry with things that can cut you, burn you, or squish you, or kill you outright! One time I was there, and a "new guy" accosted me and said I couldn't be there and another guy said: "He's OK." Good with the Landlady! I own my home and have made some "Improvements" over the years. Local "Code Enforcement" came around a few years ago to look at the property next door (which had "issues"). I happened to be outside at the time and he was looking at an "addition" I made to the back, made to match the house. He flipped the page to MY property and asked if he could look at it. I said: "Sure". Inside and out. Turns out the door and windows I had put in on one end actually EXCEEDED Code requirements!
Coming from the window film trade myself here's a bit of info for you both. To get privacy using silver reflective film, it takes a balance of light of 7 or 8 to 1. Basically 7 or 8 times more light on one side of the glass to the other. During the day you will get the mirror due to the daylight on the outside, but as soon as it gets dark and you switch the lights on inside the mirror reverses. What we have done for clients is put up spotlights above the glass and shone them down the face to increase the ratio of light again to the outside which brings the mirror back and privacy. You'll see what I mean by shining a torch light at it.
The upgrade in Camera was well worth the investment, the new mic should also make a big difference outside.👍 Happy Holidays Issac, enjoy the break and see you in January 👊
Like any tech, the use of the new camera will require some practice. Plus with a high res camera you can shoot in a different manner. You can shoot the person being interviewed first, then come back and shoot the close ups of what was being mentioned. You then edit the “voice over” scene and the close up scenes, so you don’t have to keep zooming in and out, or moving the camera around to try to capture every scene. These extra shots are called BRoll or inserts. Effectively you are now moving into the realm of Video Production. You might need a tripod to help keep your shots steady.
I think its setup and getting used to the focal length. It needs a warmer white balance, its a bit too natural and under exposed at the moment for videography
Do you mean a 40x8" container not a 14x8" one? If so consider a ex refrigerated container as already insulated and only loose about a foot at front from the old refrigeration unit
Your renting? And you own a successful business? Why not your own property too? Find a cinder block place like an old gas station, or small brick and mortar. All you need are 4 walls a floor a roof. And a good electrician for a few days. Then a hoist put in. But I understand, it's hard to move once you are settled in and mentally comfy working there. Surprised you don't have a home with a shop on site on your property.. Maybe taxes could be saved? And make up for the travel time you loose. I put my machine shop in my basement. Yeah I have NO idea how we will ever get the lathe back up the stairs....The mill bases were a PITA too.
but moving is a good opportunity to get new gear and the appropriate set up - i did my training in the early 1990's we were taught on the same boring bar as in the shop and it was old then
Lee. I think you should consider window bars. Now that Barum is really well known, the criminals are sure to come around, I'm sorry to say. Good change to the videos. I think you are on the right track.
So the E30 will be orange by about the end of January. I hope it goes well. Can I be cheeky? Which January did you have in mind?? Looking forward to seeing it. Also looking forward to the progress on the kit car. In fact, I'm more excited by the kit car. I like the idea of a small powerful engine in a light simple car. Hopefully the next outing will be successful.
SOLUTION: put a sign on the font door: “No walk ins, by appointment only”: Then keep the front door shut, and put a buzzer or door bell on the door for the couriers to use”
Your 'jig' for the block is in fact a fixture. Jigs are for drilling. There is no such thing as a welding jig or a car aligning jig. They are fixtures.
Too much zooming in & out. Stay back & down so you don't see all the wall & ceiling. Every time you move around the camera takes time to adjust the lighting.
Totally random question and i only remembered when you were talking about the parking spaces, but did you ever get to the bottom of that volvo that had the wierd coolant leak that you had parked there? not sure you ever mentioned it again and i just missed that video or not
They need to have a look at the exposure settings and the shutter speed settings. Frame rate also looks low. Give them some time to work out how to use the new camera.
@IANHANDS Everything put out by Barum Engines is our business. That is why Lee puts it on RUclips, for our entertainment and to attract comment. If you don't like other people's opinions then don't read the comments section.
Still haven't sorted the bloody slats out on that Vertical blind in the office then Lee😉. Buy crap off the internet to save money and then put the weights and chains upside down, please sort them out
Good Lord Lee, you need to take a day off building engines and clean the shop, mainly the machines. That mill is absolutely filthy, deep grunge on the head, oodles of swarf build up on the back of the knee. It's much nicer to work on a machine that doesn't get you dirty just by touching it.
The landlord, It's nice to have a good land lady, one that is approuchable. One day she will want to retire and maybe sell, ideal time to buy off her maybe?
Lee. New intro music, not likes & way to loud,,, bring back the proper Barum engines music,,, new camera is still dark, not like, your other camera was well balanced in light & dark areas & shows how it should be in the workshop, start having a look @ the setting on the camera & see why its so dark why you are filming. its defiantly not my monitor here & other people can see the difference from the old camera to new one!!...

It would be more accurate to use a dti/finger clock to level up cylinder blocks for machining
Looking/sounding much more relaxed, Lee. 👍👍
Wow you are so lucky with your landlady I have known people take on a business premises and be at loggerheads from almost day one
Great vid

get some ventilation for the container or it will sweat and rust everything inside
Whirly bird vent.

Insurance companies will have kittens when customers wandering around a shop environment.
Hi mate, I’ve been watching your videos for a long time. I think the new camera is not as good Pal.
I think its setup and getting used to the focal length. It needs a warmer white balance, its a bit too natural and under exposed at the moment for videography
You need to be alert...... Barum needs lerts!
I like your style using the new camera spontaneously. Well done.
Really enjoyed the way you did this video, great watxh seeing what your up to
Blimey, new camera I feel like I have motion sickness!
It’s a it twitchy……
I hope now that the washout bay and a couple more parking spaces are now for you to use, it won't cause your rent to go up.
Do you mean a 40x8" container not a 14x8" one? If so consider a ex refrigerated container as already insulated and only loose about a foot at front from the old refrigeration unit
14:20 These bolts and nuts, to me, are typically the bolts and nuts I would fit with some Locktite!!
Hey mate, take a drink every time they say “mate” mate, I dare you mate.
Camera is ok just needs a gimbal to keep it steady
New fancy camera isn't very good it's dark and like looking through a pair of binoculars the wrong way round.
Do the cylinder head locating dowels in the V8 block get removed before the face is skimmed?
Yes 👍
What sealer do you use metal to metal. Like the main ladder type of thing on that Ford
I used to use Hylomar....good enough for Rolls Royce, good enough for me.

The insurance company made us put bars on our windows. Otherwise no insurance in our workshops.
Great vid but think the previous camera was better!
you need to slow your movements down with the new camera
yeah, the camera when u move looks like you're speeding up the film, lil cartoonish. but im sure that can be fixed in the settings. thank u guys.
Having to turn the sound up to hear your dulcet tones Lee then getting me ears blown off by the bloody adverts. Merry Christmas
Yep, audio levels are down by 7dB. Need to tweak that in edit.

NEW CAMERA WORKS WELL😱😱CAUGHT THE BOSS GETTING HES HANDS DIRTY😂👍💪
The camera is a lot better quality it’s just the lack of the gimble so it’s not so erratic
Camera seems jerky, seemed better before, probably some settings somewhere
The camera shots look jerky because they are. The operator is jerking the camera around, using it like your eyeballs.
Are you insured if the container gets broken into.
Jezz, that's some disc. That should stop you when you want!
Your 'jig' for the block is in fact a fixture. Jigs are for drilling. There is no such thing as a welding jig or a car aligning jig. They are fixtures.
I really enjoy your channel, but negative clickbaiting? People whom wish to view your channel would do so regardless.

Dude your new camera is fine, you just need to get better at using it but the sound quality this time was very cacky sorry for saying it..
Love the new music theme!
I preferred the engine sounds.
@@derekhobbs1102 So did I. now if Lee could try to keep the sound at the same level during intro, story, and outro...
Isak is a legend
As and when Lee with the video's, I sense you are getting a little buzz as the M3 parts are coming together😎
FPS on the new camera is too low
Totally random question and i only remembered when you were talking about the parking spaces, but did you ever get to the bottom of that volvo that had the wierd coolant leak that you had parked there?
not sure you ever mentioned it again and i just missed that video or not
I don't think he ever did say what the problem was !
Spot on there, you just jogged my memory too, i remember it but i don't think there ever was a video showing or explaining what the issues were.
I wish I could hear it.
Sorry Lee, but you need to go back to your previous camera, this one is nowhere near as good. Hope you didn't buy it !
Nahhhhhh man this one way better
@BEYTEK Well either your eyes are bad or mine are !
Not your call not your camera sorry mate not your business. Bitt out

Dont panic. With so much going on, this is not mission critical.
@@ataxpayer723 Are you serious?
👍👍
To film the different angles and objects you need a gimble,
The camera movement is jus to fast.
NO GAY ADDs

Rather than Lee working fast just do more edits..it takes more time however it will flow better
Try not to move the camera about so much, don't treat it like looking through your eyes. Perhaps use a stand with a wider viewing angle.
The landlord, It's nice to have a good land lady, one that is approuchable. One day she will want to retire and maybe sell, ideal time to buy off her maybe?
Possibly the income from the leases will be her retirement income ...
@@Jester-Riddle Yeah could be but its her business. Would be nice when she is ready to sell to offer it to Lee first.
Maybe maybe maybe .
@@Jester-RiddleNot your business butt out

feel sick watching it
Your new camera is a backwards step. Spoiling the content.much better when you used your phone.
Good to see a landlord that is prepared to work with long term tenants . Good first tge landlord to have tenants that respect the property as well
Lee. No one should be in the workshop! Have you thought about overalls/uniform would look good on the vid!
They do have a uniform. Its an embroidered black hoodie with black shorts.

Better still don’t let these looky lous into the workshop.
Hate the new music intro/outro,,,
