Mobil is a great way to do it. It also has some challenges, you have to work fast. I like that I have most of my customers knives from 1-3 days or more on average 3 day. Some of the stuff I do may not be perfect for your business model. Mostly the polishing stuff. It's hard for me to get under 7 min a knife if I polish and clean up it's appearance. How much time do you spend per knife? and whats to long for you? I find most mobil guys want to be under 5 min a knife some even less.
Nice videos you make 👍👍 l just purchased a Toolcker like you use in the videos..Do you have a video how you upgraded the machine with the angle guide or explain how to do that...?...Out out the box l have serious tracking issues with the machine.. Did you have the same issues with your Toolcker..?..If yes how did you fix this very pain in the butt issue...?
I am hoping you can give me some advice. I always struggle with thinning out the blade right at the bolster. I dont know how to perfectly explain this but after I reduce the bolster and after thinning out the blade at the bolster I always end up with the small little point like the the thickness of a needle sticking down from the blade about a 1/4 from the bolster that cause the blade not to make full contact with the board at the very end of the blade. When I try to fix it I end up making the very end of the blade by the bolster dull to where it needs thinned again and so begins the same process. I don't know if it is the angle a which I am coming at the grinder right near the bolster when thinning it. Just to mention I do sharpen edge trailing with out a guide. I have the MuChaIOAK Belt Machine you are using and hope to use your angle guide setup here soon. I hope I have somewhat explained my issue. Thank you again for the videos and any advice you may be able to offer from my convoluted explanation.
I will try and do a video on just bolsters in the next week or two and will show what I do to deal with them. I had a set the the worst I every saw recently. I cant remember if I videoed them they where so long. They had not been cut back in 30+ years of sharpening on a pull through machine. I have no idea how they where even using them they were so in the way. LOL
