Ken had the WOW! factor. He kept us on the edge of our seats. I met him twice. The first time was in Birmingham, AL at a book signing for "The Snake." The other time we were both drunk as hell at AJ's in Destin, FL. He was a gentleman and a party animal! A true legend, who I wish had seen his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction while he was still alive. RIP Snake.

I have been to many of his games along with many other teams games and I can tell you, there's no comparison, he was a Classic & very cool to watch! In those days, I routinely watched five football games a week. Two college games on Saturday, two pro games on Sunday, and Monday Night Football. I don't watch nearly as much nowadays. I don't much care for the players, the way the games are presented, or the way it's played. Before computers and plays called from upstairs, quarterbacks called their own plays. No one I ever saw was better than The Snake. He was the best of his era, and my favorite athlete of all time. I'm a sad man today. Wherever you are Kenny, thank you for making our lives a little brighter. You were really, really something. There will never be another one like The Snake.

They may now be a Vegas team, but Oakland fans had them when football was real - when it was gutsy. That's something to savor. As an aside, outside of Daryl Lamonica for a brief period, I never saw another player with that type of facemask. It resembles the types used by backs and linebackers of the 1960s. Examples would be Raymond Berry of the Colts, Joe Namath, of course, and 49ers' linebacker, Dave Wilcox.
