Gabbi Hello again. You should realize that "races" do not exist in nature and therefore "race" is neither a genetic, biological, or scientific term. It's just a socio-political term invented by the original white supremacists (aka Western European enslavers) to rationalize their continual enslavement of Africans and theft of indigenous people's lands. All these ancestry DNA test simply reveal whether your alleles match the reference population groups whether from one region or multiple regions of the world. All human being have exact same genes; the difference is the expression of these genes based on environmental conditions which gives rise to the various population groups. Nothing more than that.

Michael Davis I've heard your type of argument before. There is no set of genes that one ancestral group has over ALL other ancestral groups. All human beings have the exact same genes (e.g., ACGT). The frequency of the expression of these genes due to environmental pressures is what gives rise to different traits that you perceive in human populations. Furthermore, the San Khoisans ethnic group in South Africa is genetically distinct from all other ethnic groups in Africa. In fact, geneticists say they are closer to Swedish people, in Europe, than Africans or Asians. By your response you subscribe to the racial worldview; that is, attaching HUGE and SIGNIFICANT meaning to insignificant physical and/or genetic traits/features among human beings; that is why you see race. Traits in and of themselves have no meaning. Human beings attach meaning to them and there you have it. Moreover, people who subscribe to the racial worldview are very selective in which physical traits they classify as "racial". For instance, no one talks about the size of the tongue, size of the bigtoe, earlobe shape, eyebrow shape; yet somehow other physical features are "racial". It's a cognitive error. Lastly, geneticists and anthropologists have argued that it seems its the layperson who can't let go of the concept "race" and it is really just a "folk taxonomy" system. Lastly, your statement is contradictory to what is known about population studies and the American Anthropology Association has a detailed explanation on their website explaining "when", "how", "where" "race" came into existence and "by whom". Race has always been about the "in group" classifying the "out group" for social, economic, and political gain.
Yes my family is Jamaican on both my mom and dads side but I have Indian and Chinese on my dad's side too and Irish on my mom's side too. I had never realized how diverse and rich our home country's history and bloodlines are. (This is back when I was younger about 14 or so. I'm 21 now) I'm so proud to call myself Jamaican and I've been to my family's country try as well as other Caribbean countries. The land is so beautiful, the food is delicious, the people are stunning, and the atmosphere is just wonderful in most places. 🧡🧡🧡🧡
It's less common to see ancestry dna results for people of Jamaican descent on RUclips, so thank you for sharing your mother's results!I am British born, but 3/4 of my grandparents are Jamaican-I will definitely be doing my own ancestry dna test, as I'm curious to see what comes up!
I'm from the UK too. The hurdle runner Colin jackson did a DNA test too, he had taino , african and European. Interesting. Its why I love being from the Carribean.Just the mixture.
so with me being jamaican and am now base in eastern ontario canada how do i go about getting my test done is it a online website that i av to contact to get it done can someone lead me in the right direction
Da'Naisa Love - You can't blame people for thinking that most Jamaicans are Africans as they can only go by the Jamaicans they visually see around them and on TV, majority of them who look very African. The African gene is mostly prominent. My niece and nephews are half Jamaicans but their Indian gene is very dominant. Obviously Jamaica being a small Island packed with people of all races living together for centuries, it's not difficult to see how easy the mixing came about.
BIZOU BRAZZA Looking a certain way ?? You don't even know how I look so please stfu. I get mistaken for being Spanish or Indian. I never said we weren't majority black though now did I ?? That's why you have to learn how to read.
First.. mommy is gorgeous. Two it is fairly close.. my mom and my dad did there test too. Mom 68% African , 23% Asian , 8 % European and 2% Polynesian ( I am going off of memory but that's basically her results) My dad was the real mix up mix up lol 61% African 11% Asian 24% European 2 % Polynesian and > 1 %. West Asia (Middle East ) your mom Africa is close to my dad Africa . Great results. Plug yours and mommy DNA into Wegene Asian company it will break down the DNA. Most Jamaicans are Hakka Chinese. They Hakka people migrated all over East Asia. Interesting history. When they left East Asia they travel all over The America's.
Miss Jai thanks!! ❤️ that's really interesting! My mother actually matched with someone who was Chinese Jamaican and we were able to find out more about who the Hakka Chinese were.
Gabbi yes both my mom and dad side has the Chinese. We did some research but unfortunately it's hard to find where in China they lived prior to coming to Jamaica. It doesn't help when they are forced to change their last names which wasn't their native language. For example my mother side the Chinese that came to Jamaica last name is Williams and on my father side it is Leahy. Lots of confusion but interesting stuff.
Miss Jai Miss Jai yes! The fact that they changed their last names upon arriving in Jamaica makes it so hard to find out more information. Fortunately, we were able to get some information from one of my mother's matches. Apparently, my mom's relatives came from southern China from a place called Dongguan. The specific village is called Tien Sim Wei. I don't know if all Chinese Jamaicans come from there but that's the case with my mother's relatives.
Miss Jai the experts say the majority of the people in jamaica are Not asian thats not even near truth. The 2.7 million african origins are jamaican people today yes there are other ethnicitiez like anywhere but afro origin is 91% of the population
I am Jamaican and I am 2 shades lighter than the mother. My DNA is 94% African, so proud. I am mostly Nigerian. I don't think skin color is a big factor.
@@nicolescott1354The mother looks completely East Asian with the straight hair especially. It you never know who is who. If you have an accurate family tree, then you will know if you have any multi- generational- mixes or not. If you have grandparents, great grandparents etc who are other ethnicities or mixed race, then you definitely have mixed descent in your lineage. I do question some of the DNA results? The accuracies with the fallacies. The agenda. One thing for sure, all human beings are the Heavenly Father's creation and we all go back to Adam and Eve. The Messiah is the last Adam that brings Grace to all men.
Thank you for the video. It's interesting to me. I was adopted and found out as an adult. I was also told that my parents are Jamaican and that my mom's mother was Chinese. Growing up I always wondered why I did not look like my parents who are multiracial. My mom was from Barbados, light skin, red hair and blue eyes and my dad was Afro-Latin and American Indian. I don't look anything like them, though I do have red highlights throughout my hair. I have strong Asian features and so does my daughter and granddaughters. I have to build up my courage to take the test and the more DNA vids that I watch, tells me that I should just do it. Especially considering the fact that it matches you with relatives. Relatives that I've never met and do not know exist. To make a long story short......thanks for sharing!
lindamicki0509 you should do it! My mother actually ended up finding a relative whose parents were directly from China. This person was able to tell us the province and the specific village that our ancestors were from. It's so much more than just finding out your ancestry. You can find people who actually exist today that you're related to. I think it's great! 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
I saw a very interesting documentary about a woman who was searching for her mother's full Chinese father's family. Her mother was half Jamaican and half Hakka Chinese. It's called "Finding Samuel Lowe". It was beautiful to see how her Chinese relatives welcomed her as family. There's also a book by the same title that goes into detail about the journey as well.
This is so interesting because I really thought I was mostly Afro indo Latino from Jamaican national and Cuba . But my break down was so all over I had to really process that Asian ancestry and it makes sense my grandmothers middle name was mae ling and very Asian passing but lived as any other Cuban . The Caribbean is such an interesting place . Sending love and light .
Beautiful lady I could tell right away you might have Chinese. Lots of Chinese in Jamaica! You are so lucky to have blood from all the continents you must be proud ☺

Thanks for sharing your results. I'm Canadian born to Jamaican parents. You should upload the raw DNA results into DNA.Land for comparison purposes. For me personally, DNA.Land results made more sense than Ancestry DNA based on my family's oral history.
J Tenn I’ve come to realize that Ancestry DNA provides accurate results in terms of ancestral regions but the percentages are not accurate or reliable as many genetic genealogists have stated. Also gedmatch may be most helpful in revealing a person’s ancestral makeup (admixture) and at least for me has the largest number of cousin matches. Also, gedmatch has the chromosome painting feature which genetic genealogists have argued is more reliable. Case in point: I questioned my Eastern European ancestry but I can see the Eastern European “makeup” on various parts of my chromosomes and I have discovered cousin matches at Gedmatch. DNA land did not identify any Eastern European ancestry but my mom does. Also, by doing some research, different companies measure different parts of your DNA and uses different reference panel groups which would explain why the results can vary significantly from one testing company to another.
you can tell the Asian part in your mother just by looking at her. Mostly blackout you can tell the Asian admixture .Incredible ,your mother has the bloodline of 4 continents . It is said Jamaica and the Caribbean is one of the most racially mixed regions of the world .
Love Jamaica..I myself as you can see by my name am mostly black I guess but I have Chinese,East Indian and european ancestry like most Jamaicans.both my grandma's are black with a little mix but both my grandfather's mix one is 1/2 indian the other is 1/2 hakka Chinese.
Your mom looks like my sister, I have always suspected Malaysia / Philippines. I look more mixed raced European and Black, I sent my test off a few weeks ago and I can't wait to get my results
Astral Traveler her updated results are so different from this! I want to make a video of it but she doesn’t like being on camera. Lol I’ll get her to do it eventually!
A note on the Iberian : Jamaica was first Spanish than British .Also in the history of Jamaica ,one can see that once Jamaica became an English colony ,it was a haven for Portuguese Jews:Portugal is also part of Europe. Also I saw this : ruclips.net/video/Swwx9HtBc_0/видео.html .I did not know many enslaved Africans came to Jamaica via South America, where they could have mixed a bit with natives and with Iberians: Spanish and/or Portuguese .
Jahnes love Gabi. Thanks for sharing your DNA results. Do you all have any idea why your mother's DNA shows 1 percent Polynisian? Or was it Pacific Island? I wonder how folks from those places migrated to Jamaica? And this probably happened a while back because your mother does not seem to know them! Thanks and blessed love.
Marie Nadine Pierre Hi! From other videos, I've seen that people with East Asian DNA sometimes have Polynesian in them as well. I don't know why that is but maybe the Polynesian markers and the East Asian markers are very similar. Perhaps it could've been an error..? I don't know. Haha
The indigenous people of Jamaica were the Taino Arawaks. These people were on the island for about 10,000 years minding their own business! They think they were native americans who made their way over by boats. So no its not an error. You have to kinda add the polynesian , East Asian markers and native americans together. There are still some Taino Arawaks in the Carribean and around central America with a culture and language. Across the Carribean as a whole you either had the Caribs or the Arawaks living on those islands for 10k years.
Always great and interesting to learn and know more about our parents background! Really cool to hear that there’s a part of Chinese in her! And being a chinese, that got me watching it all! Cause it’s just sooo COOOL! Enjoy listening to you and your mum here! Hey do check out my channel too! Here i am at Singapore and check my videos out! (Let’s hope it leads to binge watching!) 😀
Mom Jamaican Dad Jamaican Grandma Jamaican and Indian Papi(Grandpa) )Jamaican Grandma Jamaican Great Grandma Jamaican Great Great Grandma Jamaican Great Great Papi Jamaican (Idk much about my dads side) But there are a handful of light skinned people in my family so.
I think a lot of people around the world still see Africa as being just pure Black skin( there are of course deeply blackkkk Africans) but even without European bloodlines, Africa itself is very diverse!!! There are different skin types and hues, there are also different eye shapes, different cheekbones definitions and other traits! That being said, the first biracial people weren't born in the American and Caribbean plantations, but on the West African coasts where various European slavers had built forts to support the dastardly slave trade! Yes Africa is a mixed bag!
It's possible that your mum's Asia East genes come from a Malagasy ancestry. Thousands of Malagasy were taken from Madagascar to Jamaica in seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. She really looks malagasy...
Letsara Jah Greetings. They know that their Chinese ancestor accounts for their East Asian DNA markers. Also from what I've read no Malagasy people were taken to Jamaica. However, Malagasy people were taken to the area known today as the USA.
Yes Malagasy ancestry is very much in Jamaica they were enslaved and brought over to jamaica some were assimilated with the maroom in st elizabeth around black river and lacovia. You can send your raw data to dna tribes and it breaks it down for you i found my east asian comes from malagasy ancestry also ive dna relatives on 23 and me and ged match that confirms this.

you can tell the Asian part in your mother just by looking at her. Mostly blackout you can tell the Asian admixture .Incredible ,your mother has the bloodline of 4 continents . It is said Jamaica and the Caribbean is one of the most racially mixed regions of the world .
I'm Jamaican and I got similar results it was pretty surprising

You have a beautiful smile Gabbi! And beautiful energy.
Angel Lee thank you!
Her mom is very beautiful 😍
A note on the Iberian : Jamaica was first Spanish than British .Also in the history of Jamaica ,one can see that once Jamaica became an English colony ,it was a haven for Portuguese Jews:Portugal is also part of Europe. Also I saw this : ruclips.net/video/Swwx9HtBc_0/видео.html .I did not know many enslaved Africans came to Jamaica via South America, where they could have mixed a bit with natives and with Iberians: Spanish and/or Portuguese .
Mummy look like one a dem really strict primary school teacher lol

Mom: Look Like Asian (Filipino/Thailand/Burma)
Girl: Lool Like African(Zimbabwe/South Africa/ Nigerian)
Her mother looks like the Cambodian mothers of a lot of my friends growing up. I would never have guessed she had any African DNA at all.
I know i am late but awesome video Gabbi and Mom.
I'm half Jamaican from my dad, I'm not sure if he was island born tho. I can not wait to see my results.

But there are a handful of light skinned people in my family so.
Very cool results, nice and diverse
I think a lot of people around the world still see Africa as being just pure Black skin( there are of course deeply blackkkk Africans) but even without European bloodlines, Africa itself is very diverse!!!
There are different skin types and hues, there are also different eye shapes, different cheekbones definitions and other traits!
That being said, the first biracial people weren't born in the American and Caribbean plantations, but on the West African coasts where various European slavers had built forts to support the dastardly slave trade!
Yes Africa is a mixed bag!
your mum can easily pass off as filipino ;) i'm filipino myself btw
Absolutely gorgeous!
Time for mum and daughter to visit Ghana west Africa
Ancestrydna had updated it's estimates and it shows that my aunt has 1% Native American. Very interesting.
The british brought chinese people there as indentured servants
Yes Malagasy ancestry is very much in Jamaica they were enslaved and brought over to jamaica some were assimilated with the maroom in st elizabeth around black river and lacovia. You can send your raw data to dna tribes and it breaks it down for you i found my east asian comes from malagasy ancestry also ive dna relatives on 23 and me and ged match that confirms this.
I guessed your mother was: 60% African, 25% Asian and 15% European. Amazing results and both of you women are beautiful black women.
lerinhar thank you!
Gabbi you are welcome!
Her mom is mixed
Your Mom is sweet and well spoken. I watched the entire video but I didn't hear you say the region you are from. Sorry if you said it. I kinda like to know so I can guess what mine would be 😄
My parents are Jamaican
Aye Jamacian squad❤I was surprised she didn't have more native American in her
