I've just donated 10$, it is not much, but is the least I can do to support your channel, cheers from Spain!
This is an extremely well-played game by Fabi!
"I'll have a little slurp of tea, you have a little think" should be a text for a mug. If it comes, I will definitely buy it. :)
Haha yes!
Definitly.
Fischer: "This line is too risky for me, chess genius."
Maxime: "Exactly the line for me, danger addict."
@@1234444rbi if you say so 😁
@@crazymulgogi Well, if you think about it more, MVL was top 10 player for quite some time. His highest achievement is no 2 in the ratings. So, I guess no one should question that he is really a strong player. Unfortunately, competition these days is really tough so it makes it very hard to compare current players with the ones from Fisher's era.
@@salmarwow sure, I'm not denying that MVL is a great player, one of the greatest and my favorite together with Caruana and Ding Liren. It's just funny that Maxime is exploring lines that Fischer -- who was always looking for the initiative -- found too risky. I hope Maxime will have a spectacular win in this line, if he keeps trying, but otherwise his strategy is starting to look a bit iffy.
It's worth remembering that MVL is leading the Candidates at the midpoint, and since he has a relatively narrow repertoire he might be saving the best/most deeply researched lines in his favorite (Najdorf/Grunfeld) openings for there. At least I hope for his sake that's the case... in the first round of the second half he has Black vs. Caruana.
Not sure whether it's a wise idea to hold up on your researched lines for too long. The other participants in the candidates (and their seconds) could now let their engines run for almost one year - whatever "secret ideas" MVL's team might have found before the start of the Candidates, chances are that the others' teams have found the same ideas by now. "Secret" lines and opening ideas lose value if kept secret for too long...
What is sure though is that Caruana and all the others who did some Najdorf preparation for the Candidates are going to drop their "bombs" against MVL now.
Yes I made the same point against grandilius, but i still dont understand why he neep playing the same oppening? Doesnt make sens to me
Maybe... Or is it just wishful thinking by Maxime's fans? I think it's the latter. Would be great to see another spectacular win by MVL, but sometimes it just isn't in the cards.
Has MVL ordered his Queen in Siberia mug yet?
Yes, and apparently he's been drinking from it.
Once Jan (and the engine) had pointed out there was a very strong continuation, Peter Leko came up with e6 in about two seconds; I'm not saying he'd worked out the precise detail of every variation, but it was interesting to hear him explain his general insight into the position.
What adventurous pawn sacrifices from Fabiano.
When Danny explained it, made perfect sense. I probably wouldn't be able to find or even think about those moves in my games.
Having missed the live coverage of round 7, I was about to watch the recording - but then I saw this video pop up. And this was the game I was waiting for. Taking on MVL in the Najdorf is the chess equivalent of storming the ramparts, or like taking on Kramnik in the Berlin or even MVL himself in the Grünfeld. You do so at your own peril. Yet Caruana found a fabulous idea here. Remarkable game! Thanks GM King!!
Yep, and it's double the risk since MVL just lost with it, surely he would've fixed the holes.
Hmm, he would play candidates in two months; he doesnt want to reveal what Najdorf line he will follow: Certainly not the poisoned pawn variation.
Thanks GM, have been silently watching and "liking" each video. Wanted to give my appreciation for the effort you are putting into every analysis!
Thank you!
poisonoutional masterpiece
Well done as always Daniel!
Thank you!
What an incredible lesson in piece activity!
If magnus wasn't magnus, fabi would be world champion and one of the best.
He is the second best in the world...
If my Aunty had wheels, she d be a bike !!!!!!!!
He is one of the best he is world number 2
@@mrnono5034 he meant one of the best WCs (and I agree) .
❤️❤️❤️ Thanks for this analysis! Congrats to Fabiano for the decisive game. What a game! Like something from the 19th century. Obviously Maxime believes that the classic Poisoned Pawn (without ...h6 Bh4) is viable, but two games say "We don't think so". He must be feeling horrible. I wonder if a future Candidates Tournament resumption is effecting his choices? Perhaps he doesn't want to reveal his prep? But every Black game he has now his opponent will play 1. e4 and then the Bg5 line asking "Would you like to play another Poisoned Pawn, Maxime? I'm ready." Such a difficult situation to be in. Maybe Maxime should take up the Pirc? (that's a joke)
And e6 by white is just incredible. You consider the move, see that two pieces defend it, move on to the next candidate move. Yet Fabiano plays it anyway. And wins convincingly. Amazing.
I bet on that. He "must" follow this variation but he didnt remember it very well. At this level you get scalded
Brillamment expliqué ! Merci
Merci!
🌹 love these videos
Split rooks + queen in Siberia = Epic combo
As allways: great explanation! 😊
I love mr kings channel
And his DVDs,just paused his kings gambit one to watch this.
Good man! Good luck with the King's Gambit!!
@@PowerPlayChess Many thanks Daniel,I’m a big fan and have been for years.Love your DVDs 📀 explaining everything. If I could buy you a drink 🥃 I would for all the help you’ve given me over the years...stay safe and best wishes.

@@PowerPlayChess Daniel, when you played E4 and hoping for E5 so you could play the kings gambit. And your opponent went into a Sicilian (c5) what did you play mostly may I ask please...
Klasse Fabi
Thank you.
9:52 I thought Rc3 was mate, but after Kd5!, no checks and mate on e8.
Its the long hustle. He will play it in the candidates take the pawn and win easily with a novelty.
I Hope he is just hiding his prep for candidates
@@hideyourgf8502 He probably is doing exactly that. Still, poor Maxime...
OMG, I'm already laughing just 19 seconds in and with the title, smh oh MVL, say it isn't So...
No it was Fabi and his outstanding prep, my goodness!
Fabi was very close in this tournament to being +4 right now. I still expect him to rack up some points now and defend his title.
Nomination for the ""Queen in Siberia Award 2021"
There are forced draw lines (chosen by White) in the Poisoned Pawn, might be why Fischer moved on, and might also be why MVL chose 10...Nc6 and 13...exd5? -- but he fooled himself on that last one. (13...cxd5 14.0-0 h6 (taking the bishop off e3) 15.Bh4 dxe5 16.fxe5 Bc5+ 17.Kh1 Qe3! (not 17...Be3? which should have lost in the game D.King quoted with excellent emphatic pronunciation of the Spanish names!) (Roberto Martin Del Campo vs. Irisberto Herrera, Guillermo Garcia Memorial, Santa Clara 1997)
"That queen is in Siberia". 😂
4:50 the reason you are here 👸🌄
BOOM !!! Caruana--P.S...Nice Mug @ 3:24
It seems that MVL simply forgot his preparation and confused cxd5 with exd5. That is of course quite tragic in the (maybe) sharpest variation of the sharpest opening in chess. He will bounce back for sure but memorization mistakes are tough for players who have tried to memorize these lines for so long. Wishing him the best.
What are you talking about? Post-factual times, we're living in...
@@dodekaedius I am talking about MVL playing 13. ... exd5? (a clear error that allows 14. e6 and White is much better) instead of 13. ... cxd5 (the best move that allows Black to hang on).
Since I cannot imagine that MVL, the world's greatest expert on the Najdorf, was already out of book 13 moves into the opening's sharpest variation, the only conclusion that makes sense it that he forgot the correct move here and confused 13. ... cxd5 with 13. ... exd5?, contributing in a big way to his loss.
I hope it is now clearer what I was saying, although I had basically written the same thing already above.
alphaZero vs mvl
e6 has to be the move of the year, so deep, after e6 probably white is winning already. 17 Bf2 is a slight innacuracy, Rb3 was winning according to engines that give +2 to white.
I think Fabi's ...e6!!! move is new generation move! It will bring chess in another dimension ❤️ Thanks for showing this amazing game 🙏🙏🙏
You could have gone for the George Bush version of the saying - Fool me once, shame one you. Fool me twice .. eh... ain't gonna be fooled again! Except of course MVL was fooled again.
This game is pretty well a refutation of the Poison Pawn. Will anyone want to play it now?
No it isn’t!
Still fischer spassky game is the best game to study bcz of better moves played by them
