Just love the look on John and Roger’s face, you can really tell how much they LOVED the costumes they had to wear. You know they would only do it for Freddie!
Cracks me up that this starts off borrowing the melody from the refrain in the aria "Vesti la Giubba" (which means put on the costume) from the opera *Pagliacci.* In the aria, the phrase Freddie's singing here translates into: Laugh, Clown... and everyone will applaud.
My favorite of all Queen videos! The most over the top, bombastic, and ridiculously gorgeous one of all! So Queen, so Freddie, but such really good music! Freddie is nursing an injured leg, which is why he sinks down on the stairs at the end. His friend (and possible lover) Barbara Valentin is the big-busted woman on the balcony who steps on his sore foot on her way down the stairs. Hilarious!😂
About a year ago you reacted to the song "No One But You", done as a tribute to Freddie by Brian, Roger, and John. ruclips.net/video/oLKyaOLb2Fs/видео.html . When Roger's part comes in he sings "Another Tricky Situation" that line is from this song. I love how they connected it that way. I just wondered if you had noticed? Mack his producer’s son said he wanted Freddie to wear that to his birthday party so he changed when he got there and did it for him. Mack’s house in Munich was a place where he could be apart of a family and just be himself. He really missed having a family life because he was sent away to boarding school in India when he was 8 until he was 16. He was terribly lonely. He never spoke about his life at school or in Africa where he spent the first 8 years of his life and then again at 16 for a while until there was a civil war and they fled to London because that was where Freddie wanted to go. Hope I got the ages right.

This video was recorded shortly after Freddie had removed a cast from his leg! He had injured his knee from some “chivalry” type moves he did in a bar!! You might notice he’s moving a little gingerly! 🦵🫢
Roger hated this so much and his costume 😂😂 You can see it in his eyes. I think Deaky hated it too. Beautiful song but It always makes me laugh. Freddie had some amazing ideas and what could they do ??😅 After all it was Freddie 😂✌🏼🌹

I love this video. Roger and John hated their costumes so much. They loved Freddie, so there they are looking miserable in their costumes. Freddie sits gingerly at the end, his right knee was recovering from a torn ligament. I love Freddie's ridiculous wig, and his shrimp costume, his friend Barbara Valentin stepping on his foot Ilooking fabulous).
I don't know if you saw my comment on the other video, but this is the song where Freddie actually uses the opera aria Vesti La Guibba (the unhappy clown song) at the start of the song, that you reacted to! It is a strait copy, Freddie just make it slightly higher then the original. It feeds into the video, you are popular and surrounded by people but you are still unhappy and alone. Roger and John hated these costumes, but this was Freddie's song so they played nice. The video also features Barbara Valentin, and everyone disliked her. Brian thought this was one of Freddie's best songs.

Peter Freestone said that Freddie loved Barbara as much as he loved Mary .

Peter is not a journalist he is Phoebe Freddy’s PA for 12 years the last 12 years of his life
And the only Journalist that Freddy told anything to of importance is David Wiig he is the only journalist he trusted and they were fabulous friends. David Was a renowned very well respected journalist he did not lie

Freddie injured his knee in a bar fight/incident/whatever in Munich a few days before this video shoot, that's why he needed to sit down at the end. It just hurt so much, he couldn't stand. But it fits.
In the bar fight he injured his knee and had a cast for six months. They removed the cast that day before the filming of the video.
Roger Taylor likes the song but always hated the video lol he said this extremely costumed one looked ridiculous
Yes it's as ridiculous as Freddie could be. And yes it's a reference to the “comedia del arte“, so to Venice and Italy. Brian (and Roger who spoke of “the shrimp costume” ah ah) hated this video, Brian thought that it was ruining the sens of this song which he liked, very deep and genuine if you listen to the lyrics. I have to say I agree with him…
If you take away the fact they all look ridiculous in this video, it's a very poignant and heartfelt song by Freddie. Even if he had the success, money, men, etc., most of the time he felt alone because he hadn't found real love...
