I set course to runway and heading bug to wind direction ( if atis, and not a glass cockpit that shows wind it’s self )

That’s a good idea, and using the big fat CDI is a good idea too. Have to remember these.
Clever, I use the course for the runway but haven't tried using the heading bug for wind!
