Ngl, one thing I didn't like about dmc5 is how unfun some of the bosses were to fight, I mean in all honesty there aren't many bosses in the game that are enjoyable only about 4 maybe 5 if I include cerberus. The game isn't a shit show because of this fact, mainly because you can easily go back to BP and fight those guys again. Just realized that it wasn't fun getting good at these bosses because some of them are only able to be fought by one character viable.

An additional tip is that enemies won’t attack if they’re off screen, so you can just keep Griffon off your field of vision to make it easier. It’s cheesy, but not as much as using Faust or smth else imo
Good to know it is not just my system that stutters like mad when my controller disconnects; I have never seen a game handle controller/keyboard detection as bad as DMC5 ever or since.
I recommend finishing off enemies in the air because you're less vulnerable that way. V's cane can parry enemies like Fury and Death scissors. You can also use air taunt to stall your air momentum for a bit.
What helped me a lot is to farm DT, SDT, style and RG meter with royal guards on a regular basis. Farm before damaging Griffon, farm before damaging Shadow, farm Empusas before the third fight, go back and farm other Empusas and Lusachia before the last fight. Start the last fight with Lucia to get some style, then enter DT and ramp it up to SSS safely, then use 4S off cooldown (it seems Griffon and Shadow take increased damage from SDT hits but I am not sure).
My toughest challenges for DMD S rank were 8 (3 tries), 10 (4 tries) and 12 (3 tries) This one though took 10, this is far and away the toughest mission to get an S rank on. Not even completing it is much harder than the rest of the game, though it is a challenging boss, its just that it hates giving you style points.

I hate how ALL of V's pets get super armor. Sure you can flinch them with heavey enough attacks but never launch them into a juggable state. Gryphon and Shadow have next to no start up so you need to keep distance from Shadow and stay mobile or keep the camera off of him to prevent Gryphon from swooping in with some bs while you're charging or attacking a stalemated Shadow. Then there's Nightmare. I just SDT and shoot the Luce until the meter is nearly empty then I square + triangle and nuke 'em. I've stopped caring if I had quad S I just do it to start off with a high Style rank and get all of down as much as possible. I even save regular DT just to recharge SDT and try for another round of Luce shots later on.
This will be very useful once I come back around to this mission. I swear, this, plus missions 10 and 8 are some of the Mist bullshit missions in this game to S rank. All the rest are a walk in the park for me, with Vergil of course giving me a little trouble, but 8, 10, and 18. Fuck, man. I've been looking for any edge I can.
Is it possible to make a mod that rebalances the ranking system so it actually makes sense and you dont gotta sit there royal guarding to get an SSS before every fight
So uhh I got a question a honest question did I break something or am I just bad at the game cause I can't get Dante's charge shot with ebony and Ivory to work I've been at it for hours and nothing it'll charge up and then it'll just shoot a bullet so I don't know if my games bugged or what
Charged shot isn't too special tbh. If you're in gunslinger it charges automatically without having to hold the button. Don't expect a big single shot like Nero's, just a slightly stronger version of regular shot
You actually don't need any of those fancy strats to get the S rank really. If you manage to get a SSS in all the fights (and you don't even need to maintain it for too long), kill all the red orb bugs and finish the mission as fast as you can without taking damage, you will get the S rank. Simple and clean. You can even use Faust for a boost to red orbs if you having trouble reaching the mark.

The only bad bosses are the Qliphoth Roots and Niddhog. Maybe Gilgamesh but he was more like a mini-level

Yeah playing as V is fucked in DMD. Practice obviously would make it better but he is not as fun to practice as well I reckon

If your NOT going for no damage, it really doesn't matter the amount of damage you take (unlike dmc 1& 3) as long as you dont die
