@@VictorHHH7 ohw thank you so much! To think that O thought it died a little back! Do a search for jpaanese maples on my channel. I have a few videos on them.
Amazing video! This tree has been featured in many already and it is very interesting to see the development from season to season. Thinking that a couple of years ago it was suffering from rotting roots, and now it is going through major reshaping
This is one of the most interesting videos I have watched in a while. Really enjoyed the journey and fingers crossed for the thread graft. The snap surprised me too :)
I love the development and refinement work that you've shown in this video Jelle! It addresses many issues I've faced with other trees. Your filling compound sounds quite useful. What is it called, and where would I look to buy it?
Where do arakawas start corking up first? ive gotten a tree thats got a decent amount of cork, but not near the roots as of yet, but it doesnt look grafted either. So im wondering if its "random"
they start at light damage on the bark. The roots are not behind the overall barking. Good chances it was graften, and might need layering if you want cork on the roots.
I only have some Norway Maples I grew from seeds I collected. I often see different Maple at big box store garden centers I would like to try, but the majority are grafted trees. $50 plus for a very small maple tree. I missed them going on sale this season. What saddens me is that the trees they do not sell go in their trash bin and sent to landfill. Some really thick nice trees go. Some $300 or more. Half price is as low as they go, then send to landfill. Makes no sense to me. I should go and dumpster dive. I live too far from the city to get there in time. Does that happen where you are?
How cold does it get in your area? I’ve always wanted a garden with tons of japanese maples, but I live in a colder environment. I have one in ground, but it’s growing very slow, though we have bad native soil in our area, it is growing, tho the day will come when I’m ready to dig it up. I’m worried abou how it’ll grow outside in a pot, our winter temps can go down to -20c, tho rarely, it worries me, after all I want them to thrive year after year.
Best bonsai Japanese maple video I’ve seen, it looks totally amazing

@VictorHHH7 Make sure you also look at non digital trees today!
@@GrowingBonsai I definitely will do, i have some nice parkland near me 👍
I was just thinking those branches look a tad brittle and before I could warn you...SNAP!
yeah, I should have known better. 🤔. No drama as the tree did not need it.
Did I mention it was on purpose?
@@GrowingBonsai One lives to learn.
Lovely tree. The bark looks amazing.

Yeah, as some point I will have to do a compilation of this tree over years!
Look at that little branch growing his heart out! That's beautiful.
I know!! Hoping for fusion next year!
Love the long term videos. Thanks for your hard work.
Glad you like them!

Awesome, thank you Xav!
Preventing bulging/inverse taper has been my biggest issue with my maples. Great video with great info
fair challenge to have! It can be tricky indeed
Lovely tree 🌳👍
Thanks for the thread graft view 🤔
So nice of you, here it to wishing it takes!
Jelle please keep making these videos mate . The best out there 🔥
@@Dannysbirdshed thx so much! Will try :)
Thanks as always, Jelle! You are a wealth of knowledge, whether direct or indirect (ie; stuff I didn't know that I needed to know yet)
Great to hear! I just try to share what I do. when I do it and why!
Beautiful tree, Jelle! I love its natural form. 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks Jelle. Another beautiful tree and a great video
@@dermo1981 so kind of you!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Arakawa
The best!
She is coming along great! I’m diggin it, good sir.
Thanks 👍
Nice project.
To help viewers follow the timeline, you could add a text on video showing month and year as you change clips
Thanks for the tip!
very curious to see the future style of the tree if the graft succeeds.
same here. Hope it works out!
Un grand merci pour le partage!
thank you for joining!
Brilliant video! So helpful. Thanks Jelle.

It is something I got in the hardwarestore. Generic filler suitable for outdoor use.
Love you Jelle
@@alpguney Thank you so.much. But please do not tell my wife this!🤔
Always enjoy Japanese maple work. Hope to get an Arakawa some day, but I already have Nishiki gawa. Will the big wounds eventually get new bark?
over time bark can grow over wound, yes
What a great tree!!! How did you get it on its own roots and what is the trees age?
This was probably cutting propagated. But not by me. It is over 30 years old growing in a pot.
Nice
Thanks
Nice bonsai👍👍🙏❤️❤️
thanks!

Japanese Maples are very cold hardy
not very. So far -3 and normally winter stops at around -5, -10. Have seen three -20 winters in 20 years at my current place
