i remember being there as a kid late 1970s, (my mum being from Glasgow), it was exciting, stalls with punk rock stuff, posters, badges, clothing, cool toys, etc. now it looks like any other indoor market I've seen lately with stalls crammed with a pile of crap that no one wants (should be in skip..probably where they found it) and anything interesting is overpriced ?
Hi Christine. Great video. I'm from Dundee and i've been to Glasgow many times.I like going under the bridge at Central Station with the shops there and dark. so unusual but great.looking forward to more from you.x
Thanks a lot for the great video,We had many visits to the barras in the early sixties when doing our nurse training in the wonderful Glasgow Royal infirmary, loved Glasgow and the Glaswegians. Good luck will follow your videos
Another great video Christine. Thanks for bringing us along on your trip to Glasgow. It was a trip down memory lane for me. I went to the Barras for the first time in the late 80s when I came to Edinburgh to start my nurse training, haven't been back for 30yrs. How kind of you promoting the ladies stalls, their Diamond Art cards are beautiful. The wee card with westie, looked just like your wee Maggie ❤Went to see Elvis Costello at the Barrowlands a few years back. If you & Tam feel up to it please do more videos going to other places. Maybe come to Edinburgh? Lx
@@ChristinaM66enjoy your trip to Edinburgh, have fun with your daughters. Edinburgh is beautiful especially on an Autumn day but the shopping is poor compared to Glasgow & Livingston. Lx
Hi christine lovely vlog that you did today showing us around glasgow the market area reminds me of a market that we have in my local town nice items that you got thankyou again take care x
Funny to see the Barras. My dad took me when I was wee. I remember that even thou it was many many years ago. I was born in Glasgow, brings back memories of my dad buying me a lovely plate . I still have it x
I actually seen John carpenter at that hall upstairs a few years ago. I have not been to the actual market in probably about 28 years. The indoor bit looks much the same from what I remember. That time 28 years ago was the first and only time I visited that barras market. So yes only been there once and it was nearly 3 decades ago. I think they actually had executions at that Trongate.
Great to see the Barras again and Reetas i used to love that clothes shop in the 70.s xx
We enjoyed it Janis, yes Reeta's was great, my friend and I always went there for clothes x
