when ppl say this real madrid team won the match before the game even began, they were not joking around. they were facing a juventus side that had beaten barcelona with messi neymar and suarez. it was 1-1 at halftime with all to play in the second half, yet you see 0 level of panic from the players. they were cool as ice, knowing they had everything under control. the same thing happened the year before. penalty shootout, everyone was super calm. same thing happened the year after, even after mane equalized for liverpool they just stayed patient. this real madrid team were not better than the treble winning barcelona tactically, but mentally, they got to be one of the toughest team in football history. back to back to back UCLs with comebacks after comebacks.

this is what for me makes zidane so unique and impressive the respect he gets from a squad of wc winners he managed to motivate a core of players to win another ucl and then with barley any big named signings he went on to win 2 more 3 in a row that takes a lot of skill motivation wise players respect him as a player and a coach

You dont need to teach players what to do. All was already practised in training. He just need them to continue to believe in the system and some minor adjustments. The belief he has in his players and the same belief the players have for zizou is immense. Who wouldnt believe and listen to him? He has won everything.

tactics are worked on the training ground. Tactical adjustments are made in game, hardly ever at halftime.

Difference between a system coach(pep) and a coach that knows his players and doesnt overthink the tactics. Zizou knew his players and allowed them to play their football. Just added some twists to it
it really shouldnt be any more complicated than this at the top level anyways. The more simple you make it-the better. Players at halftime are exhausted and got tons of things on their mind, last thing they need is drawing 100 diagrams and shouting instruction after insctruction

He is a tactician, a great one. Hes not a strategist as he doesnt have one set way of playing. His ingame changes and formation changes at RMA were always top notch, especially in big games. I remember once he won 4 tough games in a row playing different formation in all of them. Good example of his tweaks is victory at Camp Nou in 2015/16 when all his instructions proved to be spot on, as switching to 442 vs PSG in 2018 at Bernabeu also turned the game around
ppl now think that if you dont have one specific way of playing like Pep or Klopp or whatever-that you are not a good tactician but its bullshit.
