i played this piece in trumpet as my year 10 music instrument exam, i got marks that i didn't expected, therefore i got a good memory of this song. Also, this reminds me of the boy i have liked for 3 years, he sat in the same exam room with me like other candidates, this song helps me to confess without words.
Elgar finished the piece in July 1888, when he was romantically involved with Caroline Alice Roberts. He named it Liebesgruss because it meant “Loves Gretting” in German because Miss Roberts is German. The first published editions were for violin and piano, piano solo, cello and piano, and small orchestra. Only a few copies were sold until Schott changed the title to "Salut d'Amour" with Liebesgruss as a sub-title. Elgar realized that the French title would help to sell better in France and other parts of Europe. I like this piece because it sounds very peaceful and has no harsh parts. This piece has parts that are repeated constantly throughout the piece. The piano part also has some parts where it repeats the melody and the violin does the sub-melody. That is another thing I like about this piece. This player plays with a lot of bow, and a lot of soft emotions.
Not to be missed - Edward wrote this FOR Alice, specifically as an *engagement* present (he presented it to her on September 22, 1888). I believe the reason he originally used a German title was that Alice was fluent in German (but no, she was not herself German). Also noteworthy is that she was a poet, and he went on to set a number of her poems to music. (One of these is a longtime favorite of our choral club, viz., "The Snow" - one of two key song lyrics in her epic poem "Isabel Trevithoe", a Cornish love story.)
I've just started playing violin again after 37 years , I was semi pro , but this young lady is so good. Inspired me to play this piece again superb technique and expression of the piece fantastic
I just started to learn violin and I love this piece! Watching you perform the piece has motivated me to learn more and more! It's a beautiful performance ❤
Beautifully played. I know this piece very well and your interpretation demonstrates how well you understand the emotion Elgar crafted into this token of love. Brilliant acoustics and so well captured too! Bravo!
One of the best version of this piece here. Everything is inside, a subtle variety of feelings for the work combined with an exceptional interpretation while restrained and so sensitive to listening. Well done Esther!
Oh ! how beautiful "Salut D''Amour" and picture it is. especially bowing articulation is so natural and graceful. also I would appreciate the so lyric syncopation by accompaniment. (90yrs.Japanese) sorry strange English.
They said your first is the unforgettable and it rings true. The first time I listened to this masterpiece was through your rendition and after scouring music services and other artists catalogues, yours is still my favourite.

My mother just saw you play this and scolded me so badly today, I tried to tell her that you probably practiced months for this and I only practiced for two days, but she just wouldn’t listen. You have so mush talent Esther.
A few years ago one of my more advanced classmates played this piece, and so when RUclips recommended it to me, I clicked immediately. It's just as gorgeous as I remembered :)
@Rosa Amendola, oh come on, this recording by Esther Abrami and Iyad Sughayer is very nice but ''Best interpretation'' no way ! Quite a few better by top violinist's like for instance Sarah Chang , Itzhak Perlman, James Ehnes etc just to mention a few. I mean what can you expect, they are really outstanding, world class virtuoso Violinists whereas Ester Abrami is a wonderful young violinist who is on the way up and hoping to reach the very highest level which I really hope she does ! Here is Sarah Changs version, ruclips.net/video/SXLOF-z5Zlk/видео.html
Beautiful interpretation as always. But if a dare to throw a comment, I felt the tempo was little bit dashing for this particular piece. Also not sure if it was the distance between de Violin and the Microphone, but it sounds "mute" At any case this is beautiful.
