I don't believe in coincidences. With everything that is coming out now, I literally said yesterday, " I wonder about the gospel music industry." Then today I get on RUclips and here is your video. Thank you ❤
I actually don’t have a problem with them charging. They are artist not pastors and the music is more for families or individuals who prefer songs about Jesus and god and don’t have to worry about inappropriate music. They are singers… nothing more is how i perceive them
Well, the pastors are getting paid too. Whether there are artists or pastors, no one is working for free. I have never heard or seen a pastor preaches for free. Have you ?
THEY ARE SO PRIDEFUL AND BOASTFUL!LORD PLEASE LET WHATEVER I DO BE ABOUT YOU AND YOU ONLY! BECAUSE IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE ABOUT CHRIST JESUS AT ALL TIMES!TO GOD BE THE GLORY AMEN!
It’s important to remember that these artists aren’t charging you to come to a church service..They are charging you to come to a show inside of a building that they had to pay to perform in
I’m halfway through the video and everything you’ve mentioned so far applies to the entire music industry. High ticket prices, good marketing across different platforms, social media presence. This isn’t some kind of conspiracy. It’s just how you get big in music.
The Gospel Music industry has long been in existence, with people like James Cleveland, and Shirley Caesar. They were all making albums back then and having concerts. They just were not paid like today. Fast forward to Andraé Crouch and Edwin and Walter Hawkins. They are really the pioneers of what I call Christian entertainment. You see when they came on the scene church folks were ready willing and flocking to elaborate staged concerts. At 68 years old i was in that number. I believe that black Christians, looking for some wholesome entertainment released the Genie from the bottle, not the other way around. Gospel artists were giving what their audience wanted.
I cant listen to modern day gospel anymore when i listen to it it reminds me of a secular music so i might as well continue to listen to Kendrick Lamar and Drank duke it out over their bromance
The main question you raised was the response of the audience to the gospel artists - are people worshipping God or are they only excited for the individual??? The gifting and the talent and the skill development is real and was birthed in the church environment. It's God-given and greatly trained over decades. Everyone will give account of how they've used their gifts in this world. I am coming to believe that it's the evolution and changes in the teachings in the AMERICAN church (THE DOCTRINE AND THE WORD) that have changed over time, focusing more on success in this life, and giving free rein to the gospel musicians to develop the mindset of "artists" and chasing their blessing.
Isn't it a dark side to almost everything in this world. Are you going to do a spooky music 🎶 video about how people sale and pay for Bibles and Christian books? Wait, people also spend millions on New Age books and materials. Although you have a point. I believe your conmmmentar does more harm than good for followers or would be followers of Christ.
While money can corrupt, I think it’s also important to discuss the alternative. Should these artists not make a living based on what they are worth? Music is a business and someone will ultimately reap the benefits whether it’s the artists or the label. When you factor in management, musicians, venues, marketing, the gospel industry needed to model other aspects of the music industry in order to survive. The artists should make the appropriate amount in earnings due to their ability to reach the masses through the means that the music industry provides. I’m honestly surprised that Kirk Franklin’s net worth isn’t higher since he’s been one of the more notable names in the industry for decades and is often credited for introducing crossover appeal to gospel. Nevertheless, some interesting talking points were made regarding how this access to the business side of the industry has influenced modern day gospel artists.
Black American gospel music *and* the blues derived from “sorrow songs” or “field songs” created by our Ancestors cruelly *laboring for free* in plantation owners’ fields. 🖤🎼🎶🎵
I’ve been a gospel singer for over 30 years, I’ve accepted love offerings, but never have charged anything for sharing my music, I don’t care if there’s money in the venue, of course I just play acoustic guitar at these shows, and doesn’t cost me much( actually nothing)to set up, I play to God alone, all the time, so it’s free, so I’m used to it though
I guess. I mean, there is a huge difference between going to church and going to a concert. Are we expecting ANY artist to sing for free? What concerts do you go to for free? It doesn't really matter whether you are singing gospel. This is their career. No one works for free. I'm surprised Kirk isn't worth more than $8M...he's an actor, singer, writer, producer, television host...it's okay for him to get paid. Would you work for free? You know who else is worth $8M like Kirk? CeCe Winans and Israel Houghton. Come on now, people. I'd rather pay $477 to see Kirk Franklin than Meghan Thee Stallion. The fact that Karen Clark Sheard is worth $10M is not surprising at all. Just on royalties alone, that's possible...she's been in the business for over 50 years. People go to any concert for the same reason - because we enjoy the artist. To expect these people to sing for free their whole lives just because God is the subject of the songs is ludicrous. Now Kim Burrell, though...I mean, that's a whole different topic and she probably shouldn't be attached to this particular topic. And to call Kanye a "mainstream rapper" versus "a former mainstream rapper with global influence that has experienced a spiritual conversion and is now making gospel mainstream" is probably minimizing his impact on the secular world by praising the Lord in public. OK, so Shirley Caesar is worth a little over $16M. Where's the outrage? We should really keep stuff like this in perspective - None of the people I named are in the top 13 of the richest gospel artist (except Shirley Caesar). Kim Burrell is practically on the bottom of the list with her lil' $5M. The richest gospel singer today is Kari Jobe at $116M and we got a whole video about Kirk and Karen's lil drops in the bucket. Listen, if you don't wanna "pay to worship", go to church, not concerts. #okbye
Its the same as those who follow so called prophets...some want something more exiting than a humble worshiping of a humble Christ. God as he is, is not enough for them so they adhere to something that has a tinge of truth to it, but in reality they have attached the world to their worship, and end up with something like worshipping the exitement while God is now merely the second rate opening act and no longer the star of the show.
Gospel Music is a genre of music and a business, it can’t save you, only Christ . It’s just music. Let’s keep our focus on Christ. You don’t have to listen to it. You have a choice.
@@BreezeWithAfrica I appreciate your analysis! Very true and of course it isn’t but we still listen to R&B, Rock, and Pop. Some of those artists are Christians, too. It’s all just music. What defines these genres? Is it the beat or the lyrics? Today’s Gospel music is clearly defined by its lyrics and not the actual named genre. So what’s the difference nowadays? What was controversial then (like The Clark Sisters, BeBe and CeCe Winans) is considered mainstream today. What matters most is your individual and collective relationship with Christ in Spirit and in Truth because “He is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Music will evolve but the Word of GOD never changes. Side note: The Pentecostal Church movement is largely responsible for these changes. No shade though.
Major record labels are witch covens. Anyone signed to a major label is a witch. There are no exceptions; they literally won't sign you unless you're a witch and when I say witch, I'm not talking about Wiccan; I'm speaking of BLOODLINE witches. These are actually real life, flesh and BLOOD witches and warlocks.
You people must learn to separate the gospel music industry from the church. The gospel music industry is ran by the secular music industry. It’s not apart of the church even though they sing and perform at churches.
Spot on and they even have award shows they do the same thing that the world does you other than a few words in the songs from scripture it sounds exactly like the world.
@@anthonystroman8407 it’s all by design brother. If it can pass as inspirational it will be promoted. But true gospel music that sings about Jesus, The Cross, Repentance, and the end times will never be promoted like that. True Christians who sing gospel know this. This is why hymns have died out.
There is nothing wrong with the Church, Jesus himself built the church. Matt 16:18. People who do this demonize the thing Christ instituted. We also see this when they substitute church for kingdom. But Christ said that he’s going to present to himself a Church without spot or wrinkle. Ephesians 5:26:27 The Church is amazing, there’s more to say about this but let’s do better about talking about something God Died for.
When I used to go with my parents (I go to a smaller one or just listen to sermons online now), everytime my parents spend most of their times talking with their friends. Sure the pastor's preaching is lackluster but my parents can't remember what has been told. So I told one day to my parents going to church for them looks like a school reunions where they are gossiping with their friends about other people in the church. I don't like this so I stopped going to this church.
Oh that's worded very well. Goats today is an acronym for greatest of all time, but spiritually, a goat is not of God. I don't know the theological importance, but I do know that a goat is not of God.
@@90ejb no it doesn’t. Furthermore it costs to spread the gospel in America. It is unrealistic to think that it can be spread for free the way the world runs now.
🙋🏾♂️ When I was in the US Army, I asked a fellow soldier who was Public Affairs why they don't get gospel singers? He told me they want to get paid, they tell dirty jokes, and plenty of them are NON BELIEVERS! This was back in 2005 he told me this. Man was he right!
@@ladybird23561 Corinthians 9:16-18 KJV [16] For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel! [17] For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation of the gospel is committed unto me. [18] What is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, that I abuse not my power in the gospel.
@@jidowu6019singing gospel music is not preaching. Furthermore, the Bible says not to muzzle the ox that treads out the corn. If a preacher raises an offering at a service it is not a sin for that preacher to partake in the offering. There is absolutely no way to do gospel ministry for free in America. Everything costs. There are ministries who try to take this route and quickly find out it’s impossible to do so. They end up begging for charity or they come to their senses and do what’s necessary. There’s a cost to make Bibles and get them to people. It becomes sinful when the real gospel is forsaken for the prosperity gospel which is heartily centered around money. The gospel should always be about Jesus and not money. This is where a lot of charismatics and prosperity preachers go wrong.
I just wanted to share a different perspective on the topic of charging for gospel music works and performances. It's actually quite interesting to consider whether it aligns with biblical principles. In the Bible, there is a verse that hard work should be rewarded in 1 Timothy 5:18 "The laborer deserves his wages." That implies that they who put in a lot of effort, time, energy and skill into their work should be compensated. Gospel artist have a talent, like any other professionals, and dedicate a significant amount of time and resources to their craft. Charging for their music and performances can help support their livelihood and continue their ministry. I have personally been very touched by some of the songs Kirk has produced. His first 3 albums have ministered to me during some dark times. Music moves the soul- this we know! ❤ At the same time, I think it IS important for gospel artists to approach their work with humility and a focus on serving God rather than solely focusing on making money. Finding a balance between meeting financial needs and spreading their message, which is the gospel 🙂
I agree. "By their fruits ye shall know them." The effects of their fruits should make them pull back and go back to the basics. The allure of being a "Star" and hobnobbing with the mainstream entertainment world is very powerful draw for creatives and a tool for the enemy of our souls to pull them off their upward focus.
Well said. I have no problem with them charging for albums and concerts. I have a problem with worldly mindsets, actions and theology being passed off as Christian. Whether you're Joe Blow or a famous singer. I had hoped he would talk about behavior or song themes but he is focusing heavily on the fact they are making a profit, which is not in and of itself proof of a wayward heart. So far the Kim Burrel info is the only meat. Insisting people in church be silent while she sings solo is quite rude. Especially if it's a known interactive song.
Christianity is both a restored relationship with God the Father through Christ AND the practice of pure and undefiled religion. We can't separate those two aspects of faith any more than we can separate faith, repentance, and obedience working by grace. Jesus only spoke against false religion. ❤
@@AntonioCunningham-jr2oj As born again and adopted children of God, believers do have a special and more intimate spiritual relationship with Jesus than we did before we were saved through Gospel faith in Him working by grace. This is what separates us from unbelievers. We have been forgiven and brought into the Family of God. Consider these scriptures: Romans 8:29 says, “Those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn (preeminent) among many brothers and sisters.” In Mark 3:34-35, Jesus declares that those who follow Him are His brothers: “He looked at those seated in a circle around him and said, ‘Here are my mother and my brothers! Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother.’”
It’s entertainment. They are hirelings. It’s why their (women mostly) album covers have also gotten more seductive. Sex sells. They (at the command of those who hired them) will do whatever it takes for a dollar. They’re no different from their secular counterparts.
Most people think that the word Antichrist means against, it does not! It means counterfeit. Most people who believe in the Bible know that Catholicism is a Roman pagan religion what they don't understand is that "Christianity" came from that root of Roman Catholicism Christianity is part the TARES that the Messiah warned us about. People will not come to understand this because of the indoctrination. They would much rather hold on to their religion and traditions than to come to the knowledge of the truth!!!! The harvest is coming! The Bible tells us that the TARES get burned up first, then the wheat is gathered into the barn! And this goes against religion and tradition but is 100% biblical!
So Christian artists are just Secular artists that don't like the term "secular". I've listen to some these songs from them and bro It's getting hard to differentiate which is "Christian" and Secular. Except one has lines like "God" and "I love you Jesus". Honestly If they wanted to be rich so bad they could just do regular music. If it was really passion they'd just ask for a Donation. But active monetization, That ain't passion no more. That's the money talking.
"If they wanted to be rich so bad they could just do regular music" This is true, but if they did they wouldn't be as big as they are and may not be able to "make a living" singing. I am sure many of them know this. So it's either be at the top singing "gospel" or run the risk of being considered mediocre. Think about, focusing on their voices, would you even be interested in listening to them if they weren't "praising" THE MOST HIGH. This is not to say they can't carry a tune, but line them up with secular artists and many of them fall short. To be honest, I've felt the Spirit of THE LORD in songs one would not consider gospel. One in particular is a song by Day26 titled, "If It Wasn't For You." From the first time I heard that song, I thought it could be a "gospel" song because I think about GOD'S goodness and what my life could be if it wasn't for HIM, every time I listen to it. Nevertheless, THE MOST HIGH tells us to look at the fruit the tree produces. Also, many will cry LORD did I not and he is going to say depart from me you worker of iniquity.
Statements like these kind of hit a nerve for me. Thats like saying all the content on RUclips is trash cause you have people who make those horrible pop the balloon or 20 vs 1 videos. Let's be clear: This should not be about how "much" money these people make. I see NOTHING wrong with them making money -- and lots of it. The issue and concern should be: 1. Are they "truly" Christians? 2. Are they living and reflecting the life of Christ? 3. And are they "representing" God and His kingdom -- WELL? THESE are the questions. Or are they living like "sinners" -- while claiming to be and "using" the name Christian -- deceiving the masses? And are they "misrepresenting" the kingdom, while bringing SHAME to God and the Body of Christ?? 🤔🤔
They preach the same thing in the pulpit as they do in the rap songs. Its all prosperity preaching and glorifying material possessions. God's people need to return to him. Time is running out
I wouldn't waste to much energy trying to convince them; most of them are too far gone. These wolve in sheep's clothing pastors already have most people convinced that they are following the True Living God. They are actually in love with god of this world.

Worship Music Ministers are supposed to be called "Ministers" not "artists". Worship Music Ministers are to be using their musical gift for Honoring GOD, not themselves. C'mon bro. What exactly are we talking about? Booking venues takes money, far more money than the tiny offerings gospel singers got in the past. Your argument about singers putting money first is nonsensical. First and foremost, the church is a business. Prayers alone don't keep the lights on and you are expected as a pastor/person in a position of power to come up with the money to pay for things. The nicer your place of worship, the more money you have pay. Gospel singing has been a business for a long time. It's not new, and if you compare the amount of peoples whose lives have been helped by the increased reach "business gospel" the pros far outway the cons. No one is defending Kanye West out here, and I will take it a step further. Prosperity Gospel is an excuse for people to get worldly rewards for the work they put here on earth.Anything anyone else say is a lie. Whether you agree or disagree with prosperity gospel, giving people more chances to be corrupted by money can only go in one direction. As far as Kim Burrell, what are we even talking about? What praise and worship service team is seriously allowing someone else to "compete" with the lead singer? I'm sure you know full well about the ridiculous politics of praise and worship. Kim Burrell isn't above any of that pettiness. Why would y'all expect her to be? I thought being a christian was about forgiveness and grace. Also, to acknowledge your point, of course these people got money and changed up. The real complaint y'all have is they are not keeping their failings private and letting everyone observe their stumbles. Rocks and eyes and all that stuff related to that bible verse. Lastly, I no longer believe in any of this religious nonsense, but it amuses me to see the "members of the church" still haven't stopped finding reasons to tear down people. Y'all should never change.

Is It wrong for Gospel singers to get paid? Why shouldn't they make money like all other artists? This does not mean that all are lovers of money, while i do understand the videos sentiments, there are some in the business for their own reasons. Are we now questioning the artists faith? Surely the content of their music should reveal who they really are...after all not all "Gospel Music" is actually Gospel / or has Christ in it! Some are fake, some are genuine, and yes let them get paid, we all work for a salary for a living.....God knows his children, who are we to judge?
It doesn’t matter what genre you sing, being an artist takes skill, practice, TIME,and money! These artists can’t tour the world without MONEY! They’d never be able to find sound crews, tech crews, security, musicians, etc that would work with them for free. Without money, gospel music would come across as unprofessional and low quality…. And then y’all would be complaining about Gospel artists not operating in excellence! Y’all are the same people who pay $500+ to see your favorite secular artists but complain about paying for a gospel concert. Most of that $ ain’t even going to the artist; they got to pay for the venue, the LIghts, and all the staff that make the event possible.

@@ladybird2356 In that case, do you know what the word "carnal" means, and how it is applied to issue at hand? @@khanyafaba1417 In a nutshell, gospel music focuses on the aesthetics of a musical presentation - harmonies, high-pitched vocals, complex chord progressions, and artists' charisma. Sacred music focuses primarily on the essence of the gospel, and seeks to provide musical expressions best suited to conveying the sentiments of each stage. So, if one should follow the journey of a Christian and all experiences connected with growth, one would find Christian/ sacred music appropriate to each experience or stage. For instance, let's look at stage one: an individual hears the Gospel for the first time and decides to surrender his or her life to Jesus Christ. We could easily nominate Amazing Grace to encapsulate that experience; but what version? Other stages of growth will include repentance, contrition, soul-searching, or submission. After these experiences, there will be joy, thankfulness, praise, or celebration; and one could easily say "Aha! let's insert 'gospel music' here". And this would probably be ok, but only as long as Christ and His Gospel remain the central focus.
I think people need to understand that the music industry is an unregulated enterprise. There is no formula of success in it. Some songs hit big and some don't. Its unfortunate for the gospel artist that want to make a living off of their art. The safer option would be coming to grips with the fact that it cannot be done without compromise. Good music is hard to make and requires a high levels of skill and talent sometimes. Now that streaming services are here and offer $10 a month to listen to any song that was ever made, artist have a hard time making money to where they gotta take any opportunity they can get. It's sad the lack of understanding people have. People who are the most talented are often hurting inside. Anything to do with the arts is tricky when it comes to monetization, because of the listeners and viewers who look at things too subjectively. For an independent gospel artist, there is little to no return on the money they invest to put out good music. Only for it to be pirated and sold at the lowest price available. The people who control the wealth of the industry often make these artist sell away themselves in exchange for a chance to live half decent! If you sum of Kirk Franklins networth and his age, he would on average be making $250,000 a year since the day he started putting out music in his 20s. That number fluctuates as music becomes more easily available and your supporters instead of buying cds they stream it, and the artist makes next to nothing. There needs to be a solution to where those who are in it for real and want to give God the glory, are supported and can remain independent of music lables!
To really serve God it means we got to take up our cross daily. Christ was very rich in heaven but for our sake he became poor. Problem is many want their reward and riches now, they can't wait for heaven. It is possible to take a normal ordinary every day Job, and still use your talent for God. some times when you perform people might even bless you with an offering. remember Christ heal many and did not charge any of them. Elijah the prophet was used by God to bring about the healing of Naaman the captain of the Syrian army and there was not cost for the service.
@@victor-hn1bh imagine your job tells you, "we might bless you with some money for working for us." Imagine you are your own business and you do work for someone who says they might pay you. We are not talking about blessings and offerings for the sake of it. This is simply a dollar exchange for value and work. You are conflating a lot of things here. Yes It's possible to work a normal job and use you talents for God. It's even more possible that life easily gets in the way of people's passions. You hear it all the time. This isn't about wanting a reward and riches. It's about being able to sustain yourself with your work. Your reward for working at your job is you get paid to sustain yourself. It's the same with anything else. Music cost money to make and you can't depend on people to possibly bless you. If that's the case, Christians shouldn't go into any kinda business or do business with each other if services are expected to be free.
@@victor-hn1bh many people just wanna live half decent. Can you rely on a job that will pay you sometimes depending on how they feel? Making music becomes a job when a person decides to make it their career. You cannot tell them to rely on possible donations from people when people barely wanna pay for the art to begin with. Crafting music takes hours and hours. Who is really gonna have that time after working 8 hrs? Where is the time for family and friends? How much money is one person gonna spend in studio and for equipment? Or should those services be free if everyone participating is a Christian? Making music and healing are two completely different things. You cannot conflate the two. Healing is a divine gift only given by God. Making music is a skill that can be cultivated without Him. We gotta hold ourselves (Christians) accountable for the state some of these artists are in. We don't support the artist who are in it for real.
Great article. People, especially young folk, need to understand that's it's about God, not that funky beat. Be careful what you follow and who you follow. I lot of gospel music will often have incorrect scriptures said so that it rhymes in the lyrics. And often, they're using old hit songs of R&B, so you'll be jamming before you even hear the lyrics. What's bad is that many young folk don't know any hymns of old. Some don't even like them when those songs paved the way for most of the songs you hear. The late Donald Vailes in a workshop told me that "if there's no message, it's just a mess". Something I've express to every choir I've worked with, and years later, I see the truth in what he said.
Karen never left The Clark Sisters; she simply recorded a solo album - as all the sisters actively/currently in the group have solo albums/careers while actively performing/recording with the group. The only Clarks to ever leave the group were Twinkie (returned later) and Denise.
@@summerm.8746 Is that so, I love 💕 to hear things like that. So then you know she was there at Martin L. King """I have a Dream""" speech. Kirk franklin has been around since 1990, i remember him as the choir director for dallas fort worth mass choir, and karen clark been around since the 70s, they earned the money get, and have gotten. Musicians that inspire should get paid. Facts.
The black church and music changed so tremendously i remembered coming up experiencing praise and worship as well as choirs seems to me that as black people we have a way of doing things that none other can do but i know that everything had its proper place nowadays everything is about validation and self righteous i miss the days where everyone were glad to be saved and praised God just for the fullness of his glory the oil is missing in the majority of these gospel artists am so glad that some of them were pointed out because the truth needed to be told 💯💯
Karen is a millionaire not just because of her solo work. She had money from projecrs with her sisters as well. I think Kirk has more worth than that. Kim? I quit listening to because of her mouth. You can't sing praises and disrespect or disregard God's people too.
So what yall saying .. is Christian’s are supposed to be poor and broke in the name of Jesus… God said he will make room for your gift …. It takes money to make things happen … if yall don’t get out of here with this self righteousness… and no understanding of how business operates … the lord also said things should be done decently and in order… you can’t do free shows across the world … and be successful in your reach… yes back in the day Gospel artist did this and struggled … they got smart!!!
One thing I realized as a child growing up primarily in the 80s is this: once most black churches stop doing long meter hymns gospel music no longer belonged to the church. I think that’s when I started to notice the commercialization of the music to the point that it was difficult at times to tell the difference readily between secular music and gospel music.
I could start to see the commercialization of Christian music at the tail end of the nineties. I think that was when I started paying attention to gospel artists beginning to use secular artists on their songs. What really did it for me was Sunday's Best. I was like, why would they create a show like the world that promotes pride amongst believers?!! That made no sense whatsoever, but the church ate it up!
I’m sorry yall, this might be the dumbest video I’ve ever watched. I’m not saying every single gospel artist is living right, but I think it’s terrible to assume motives with zero knowledge or implications otherwise. Did y’all know Kirk Franklin has only been paid on two of his tours throughout a 30 year career? Do you know how many promoters don’t pay these artists and that they make less money than any other industry? Yes people do let money get to their head, however we have no authority to judge a heart we judge fruit. The “fruit” shown in this video is just that people get paid and people enjoy A CONCERT! Not a free church service that they do regularly but a concert with production, rehearsal and preparation. Let’s be for real everyone, don’t just use your biases of wanting to believe people are evil without actually thinking!

I’m halfway through the video and everything you’ve mentioned so far applies to the entire music industry. High ticket prices, good marketing across different platforms, social media presence. This isn’t some kind of conspiracy. It’s just how you get big in music.

Aren't you doing the same thing here on RUclips? How many likes, hits, comments, and subscribers do you have?
The Gospel Music industry has long been in existence, with people like James Cleveland, and Shirley Caesar. They were all making albums back then and having concerts. They just were not paid like today. Fast forward to Andraé Crouch and Edwin and Walter Hawkins. They are really the pioneers of what I call Christian entertainment. You see when they came on the scene church folks were ready willing and flocking to elaborate staged concerts. At 68 years old i was in that number. I believe that black Christians, looking for some wholesome entertainment released the Genie from the bottle, not the other way around. Gospel artists were giving what their audience wanted.
i started listening to african gospel music, it makes me feel more connected to my roots. i kinda prefer over american gospel
The only thing about modern Christian music that is dark is that it has given rise to all these Pharisees who judge it.
Insightful. Well produced, and true.

Its all coming to the light
Bro, it’s not a crime to be famous and fulfilled while doing what you love. Get in touch with reality please.
They should make money if they are doing work.
Omg artists have to charge people to charge people for concerts 😱😱😱
Whew I was nervous Erica Campbell was gonna be in this video too
Gospel Music is a genre of music and a business, it can’t save you, only Christ . It’s just music. Let’s keep our focus on Christ. You don’t have to listen to it. You have a choice.
True! But this needs to be out there. It’s not about Jesus with some of these artist..

What’s Public Affairs?
I just wanted to share a different perspective on the topic of charging for gospel music works and performances. It's actually quite interesting to consider whether it aligns with biblical principles. In the Bible, there is a verse that hard work should be rewarded in 1 Timothy 5:18 "The laborer deserves his wages."
That implies that they who put in a lot of effort, time, energy and skill into their work should be compensated. ❤
At the same time, I think it IS important for gospel artists to approach their work with humility and a focus on serving God rather than solely focusing on making money. Finding a balance between meeting financial needs and spreading their message, which is the gospel 🙂
Agreed!
Only in agreement with this when it’s advancing the Kingdom of God and souls are being saved and delivered.
I totally agree with you

@@AntonioCunningham-jr2oj As born again and adopted children of God, believers do have a special and more intimate spiritual relationship with Jesus than we did before we were saved through Gospel faith in Him working by grace. Consider these scriptures:
Romans 8:29 says, “Those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that He might be the firstborn (preeminent) among many brothers and sisters.”

Worship Music Ministers are supposed to be called "Ministers" not "artists".
Worship Music Ministers are to be using their musical gift for Honoring GOD, not themselves.
When a person is Born Again they are a new creation in Christ Jesus. They have the motivation to Glorify GOD not to be famous. There is a difference between a Worship Music Minister and an artist.
People need to wake up and stop supporting the "artists".
Prayer for all of them.
The streaming services is a bit misleading because because you need at least a few 1000 streams to make a penny but the real money is in physical copies, books and concerts

Karen did not LEAVE The Clark Sisters. She was the last one to make a solo project. Hence the album title: Finally Karen 😉
She was the second one to do a solo project (1998) and it’s named as such because after so many people asking her when she was going to do a solo album, she finally did.
But why did they split is the better question
Probably greed!
Was she supposed to stay with her big sisters her whole life? I, for one enjoy her solo work.

Whew. That Clark Sisters movie was a doozy. So many artists have similar stories.
Keep exposing the truth
Idk what this nigga talking about

So everyone against making money. God not going pay your rent you have to do that. God show a job and you should take it while it's there
Is It wrong for Gospel singers to get paid?
Taking advantage of ppl who are perishing for a lack of knowledge and who really don't honor Jesus! So sad 😢
How is being a music artist taking advantage of people.

Criticism from anyone who makes money criticizing others who make money from their works shouldn't be taken seriously.

What's the difference between gospel music and Christian music?
Thanks for pointing out that there is a distinction between gospel music and sacred music (or Christian as you name it).
This was very very well said thank you 🎉
To really serve God it means we got to take up our cross daily.
Kim doesn't act like she's a pastor. She has a terrible attitude, and she's a prideful one.
