    i think that in his early stage with doug frost he focused on the number of reps with less weight cause he was swimming for the 200 400 and 800 so he needed to be as light as possible while being as strong as possible so he can use a lot of energy for a long time while in his later years and now that he's back he'll use a lot more weight and do less reps so he builds up muscle mass for sprinting cause he'll be focusing on the 100
    lol it's explained in the vid 1:31 - 1:45

    If I hear that "weight training can be harmful to a child's natural growth" (o.e.) one more time, I'm going to self destruct.

    The impact of those kind of exercices at that speed and with that power is quite week. And by the wway, one can almost forget the crunches and reverse crunches for plenty of biomecanical reasons ... but I really like Ian !! ;)

  • @MrMatt5885
    @MrMatt5885 13 лет назад

    @terramar111 hes a wsimmer...not a bodybuilder/fitness model. most top swimmers are built like this: fat intercalted in muscle, soft look. Low body fat is not necesarry for swimming...(under 8-9%)

    @gwargk Yeah. Even if he's using light weight. If his form's like that with light weight, I wonder what it's like with heavy weight.....hah demonstration my ass.

    Im pretty sure those are baby weights as compared to what he REALLY uses in a real workout, these are just demonstrations cause no one would make a video on how to win

  • @bioclockmma
    @bioclockmma 15 лет назад

    Wow that's an ugly streamline at the start.

  • @Stellanovich
    @Stellanovich 16 лет назад

    just ordinary exercises and with no speed and no weight. he should used the freemotion machine more and done some more functional exercises.

  • @pipeline3609
    @pipeline3609 15 лет назад

    even if he is demonstrating, he should demonstrate good technique....when he's bench pressing, he's locking his elbows. doing sit-ups, he lays flat on the ground and waits a second. gah it annoys me.

    beneath the suit THAT WOULD BE BAN go on google and search for " the development process of Ian thopre swimming suit " and you will see it for yourself .. the suit WAS NOT textile .. it is 100% SILiCON just like the Jake suit ... he is a ok swimmer , before we knew about the suit i still though the dutchman Hooganband was better than Thorpe . now we know about the suit Hooganband was certainly FAR better.. sorry Australian ,he is only your God
