    Aussie multiple Sherco owner here.
    The brand is solid, here in Australia, we're actually Sherco's biggest market. That 500 engine was made due to requests from Aussie owners who wanted a bigger engine than the 450 for Enduro racing.
    The brand is well supported by the aftermarket suppliers, many things like the brakes, rear sprockets, oil filter and heaps more are used on other brands.
    The KYB suspension is premium gear and typically doesn't need tuning for most owners. It's not just standard off the shelf out of Kayaba, all Sherco KYBs are built to a spec that tuners Technical Touch in Europe set up during testing with Sherco.
    Many 450/500s in Australia are now approaching 10yrs old, lots have done several 100hrs unopened.
    The 2025 Models just released get a complete redesign of the frame, bodywork plastics, electrics, wheels and swing arm.
    They've lost a bit over 2kg in the process 👍

    Worked at a Sherco dealer for a number of years. The quality of the bikes are superb. Only troubles I can remember having were the ignition coils on the 2strokes and air temp sensors on the 4strokes. If I remember correctly the sensors were actually a Japanese brand. They are also typically easier to work on than the equivalent KTMs.

    • @ShercoUSAOfficial
      @ShercoUSAOfficial Месяц назад +2

      The coils were definitely an issue that has been mostly resolved. Air temp sensors must have been before we were Sherco USA. Not a known issue in our 5 years as the importer.

I am also really keen to see the SWM 500R reviewed, as like this Sherco I really don't think there is much left to do in terms of aftermarket modification, because they are so focused and sorted as stock. The Sherco looks like a quality bit of kit and with high end components too. It'd be nice to see a TM 300SMR, TM530SMR and maybe a Beta 500RR with the Beta optional supermoto conversion kit fitted. I've not really seen a good video review on the Ducati 698 either, but it seems like it might be missing the target slightly with all the electronics and the cast alloy wheels etc.

    Replace con-rod, valves, and oil pump every 50 hours or 2500kms. That’s about 1500 miles.
    Trying to make this work as a street bike will probably require more hours of wrenching than riding.

    • @TheGardenSnake
      @TheGardenSnake  Месяц назад +6

      I highly doubt that's necessary for street riding. That looks like the same service plan for when your racing it. I've seen similarly nutty stuff for other plated bikes. I know with my WR450f I got to where I pushed the oil changes to 1000 miles and checked the valves every winter. Other then that I didn't worry about it.

    • @--LZ---
      @--LZ--- Месяц назад +3

      Dude, the intervals are hilarious. Usually you dont really need to do this type of thing, unless you are racing the thing full throttle into full braking over 50 hours.
      I have no idea why you'd need to replace a con rod or valves, oil pumps usually only fail when material scratches them up... Look at any other mx/enduro bike, especially stuff like the wr450f, and you'll find people doing like 50k kilometers without taking the head off...
      I'm one of those idiots who does everything with the street legal enduro, putting around 2k kilometers a month on it. Honestly, not too bad. an oil change every 2 weeks, for the amount of fun I get out of it, is worth it. Plus I dont need a car and trailer to get me to the trails, I can just ride there on the road.
      Manufacturers probably just put this type of maintenance intervals on the bike as an insurance , as they arent sure what kind of monkey is going to ride the damn thing. So they dont get unnecessary lawsuits.

It's also got far too much electronics and tech on it, and for me that's not capturing the essence of a supermoto. If they release a supermoto version of the 450 Motocross bike they are developing, then they could probably sink KTM group sales in Italy.
      Back on point, the Sherco looks great as do the TM Racing bikes. I've also noticed that Beta sell a supermoto conversion kit for their 2stroke and 4stroke Enduro bikes. I wish that Fantic would offer a serious supermoto again too! Maybe they will soon?

He left the U.S. and nobody properly replaced him here. Not going to say why he left as I've heard lots of answers to that question but none of them had to do with TM. Get Dirty Dirtbikes only sells TM parts and it's often more expensive to buy parts from them than from Cross Shop, TM UK, TM Moto Leeds, or Boano to name a few. There is a TM kart engine dealer in the U.S. but I don't believe they have any intention of importing bikes. The garage based grey market importer I know almost nothing about but if he could get me another U.S. street registered TM I'd be tempted to buy another one to go alongside my 2022 SMR 530.

    as much as a drz is a supermoto, I could see why a purist may say no. I've ridden motocross and owned motocross bikes so I know what they should feel like and every time I hop off a proper converted enduro/motocross bike I always say the drz feels like a road bike in comparison. supermotos are like road bikes in the way that there's different types, you got mx bikes which are arguably the purest form followed by enduro bikes then you have cushy dual sporters like the drz or maybe a KLR650. I put a supermoto as anything that has been converted from a dirt bike whether the factory did it for you like the DRZ or you do it yourself. then you have what I call road bike supermotots like the ktm 690 platform, Yamaha xt660x and Honda FMX 650 etc. some could be a bit of a grey area but only supermoto guys will understand, road bike guys can't even grasp the concept of what makes a supermoto but thats another whole conversation.

      Reality is there are only about 46 in the country. The reason for the little supply of SM is because we are finishing the EPA process. Once that is complete, we will be bringing in many more. We don't want to overburden our dealers with a closed course bike only when this thing is so much fun to rip on the roads too.
