Resetting the SMC worked on my mid-2010 MacBook pro. Now to fix the Flashing ? file.
It worked on my 2010 MacBook Pro too and stopped the flashing curser He’s a genius!!
That either means there's no hard drive in your macbook or its missing an operating system, If your macbook does have a hard drive, then try downloading macOS off a bootable usb and that should solve the problem :)

Right now i'm on the latest mac version which is 10.15.4 . And i'm on Catalina
What my issue is that whenever I hold on a key, say like 'w', the screen freezes and after 2 or 3 seconds it responds
Even with the volume, when I holds, it just freezes and feels it wont respond
Can someone please help me, I tried to fix it many times, but it just doesn't work enough

Good video, but it didn't help me much with my problem. A MCP mid 2009, the charger started blinking on green color and stopped charging. It blinks green also when the battery was removed or I installed a new one. Any idea how to fix it or what could cause the problem? Thank you.

like other videos they say keep it plugged in and if resetting was successful the color of the charger will change Green Amber Red or something.. I tried their way before I found your video but it didn't work and colors never changed and I tried yours unplugged and I'm not sure.. My issue is that I've just replaced the whole screen but the brightness is lower than normal that's why I'm trying to reset the SMC.

How would I do this if the laptop's left shift is acting strangely? Apple probably didn't thought of the fact that maybe the left shift button might not function correctly so maybe have the right one ready...

Thank you. My macbook pro a1706 was not showing anything on the screen despite multiple trouble shooting attempts. The suggestions in this video solved my issue because I was able to try the P and R startup and then reboot with command option shift and power!

I've already sent my Mac to get it checked out by IT, but I still wanted to say this anyway, I tried resetting the SMC and the NVRAM but my Mac wasn't responding at all. Last Monday, the last thing I remember doing before my Mac completely shut down (I heard a crackling sound, like it suddenly crashed), was that I was scanning a document. Once it was scanned it was on my desktop. For some reason I decided to open the scanned document and press save at the top, and right as I clicked save, it shut off. I didn't need to save it, cause it was already on the desktop, but out of curiosity I just clicked it anyway. I don't think saving it was the problem, but that's the last thing I did before it shut down though.
I reset my PRAM, and it works, but audio glitches still occur afterwards where I have to reset PRAM all over again. And it takes longer to hold down cmd, option, P & R until I hear the startup sound. Any suggestions?

my macbook pro has this issue where it randomly shuts down when I leave it on sleep. Also sometimes the time reset to Jan 1 2017 after that. It's not that of a big deal but sometimes its annoying. I reset the NVRAM and now it works fine again

Very helpful, I fix my problem. I had a startup failure. After smc reset my laptop is working again.

why you dont show exactly what the keys on the keyboard are? it is very important and we just see your HAND
I would also recommend cycling the battery in the older Macs after the reset especially if its new and make sure to let the system go to 0% and let the smc put the machine to sleep the first few times.

this just causes my imac to display a white screen with a flashing file icon, mine ran arch linux and there's nothing wrong with the drive.
edit: efi partition got wiped, reinstalled grub and it boots again. headphone jack still dead though

I am trying to reinstall after deleting it previously for a new owner for my laptop. Now I want to install the OS. It keeps on giving me error saying "an error occurred when preparing the installation".
Changed the date and time still nothing.
So I am trying to start from the beginning by erasing everything again. APFS is greyed out. When I choose Mac OS extended journaled, it gives me an error.

I tried the first option, and it worked. My MacBook pro was just asking me password again and again after being loaded for some time for a right password, as there were some files opened which were not letting it turn on and show the desktop
You thought this was easy. Things get more complicated with a T1 chip lol

Mi Mac Pro, has the fans running fast, i tried the resetting PRMAM but works just once, the second the Mac just shut down and don't restart again, since then the mac pro don't want to restart even if i chose from the apple menu / restart, nothing, just shut down.

The SMC reset command takes me to recovery mode. I think both of the issues I’m having with these commands is the fact that my Mac is modern and automatically boots as soon as I touch any key.
early 2011 macbook pro 13" - after removing my sd card a couple times due to impatience with the eject feature taking too long, my laptop began failing to show the sd card anywhere, not in finder, not in disk utility, not in terminal, not in image capture. tried cleaning the sd card slot. no help. tried blowing in the slot to clear dust. no help. i feared maybe the sd card slot was physically damaged by my hasty removal of my sd cards. finally found this video and did the SMC reset (disconnect battery, hold power button for 5 seconds, reconnect battery, power up) and that did the trick. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

My MBP does not have a ‘power button’. Knew it had battery life because ‘caps lock’ key could turn green. So I, on a hunch’, held CONTROL-OPTION-COMMAND at same time. Computer ran thru start up 3 times, then started up.

Once my MacBook pro (e 2011) gets to about 50% battery (a new battery may I say) it starts to get SUPER slow. Years ago it happened and all I did was "calibrating the battery method" and it worked. I did this already and its still giving me their problem. What can I do, please help. Thank you!

Hi, please can you help me. My Mac suits down at sometimes 50/40/30% and starts to work just fine after you plug it in. My battery health is normal and the cycle count is 661. This is a MacBook Air. I did the whole SMC thing. It works for a few days and then goes back to the same thing.

Got the solution here, for non removable battery.... basically dont forget to unplug magsafe when reset SMC and plug it after when want to power on.

Solution: Click ''alt'' key 5 times. That will solve the problem. Try this first.
nothing works for me. it was rebooting contineously and now not powering up at all. no sound and no fan sound also. Tried removing the battery connection also.

I have a late 2012 Mac Mini. Resetting the NVRAM fixed my problems until the next reboot. The same problem occurs after that. I also tried resetting the SMC but that, too was of no help.
Hello there. My MacBook battery runs out fast a full battery lasts less then 45 minutes... I can see the power percentage going down 5% every 5 minutes. I already try your recomendations... battery cycle 512 status normal.... some help please
