Yea, my dog will lay there and hang with me when I have a smoke, but do I really know if he enjoys it?

Sorry this might take a sec to articulate. I have been hit in the head 1 too many times and have had way too many concussions but here we go.... If you understand the history of weed up until now. You would have to say that weed had more health benefits in the past, then it does now a days.(i know sounds counter intuitive doesnt it?) The reason is that when "coco" was young weed wasn't as "strong" as it is now a days. The reason weed wasn't as strong is because of gene selection over the years. For the most part growers have been able to improve the genes of the weed to grow as much thc (stuff that gets you high) as possible. Like any other drug you want yours to be the most potent. But when it comes to weed, the plant itself, only about 30% of the plants bud is cannabinoids. The rest is basically plant matter. So by breeding the plants to produce more THC the growers caused the plants to stop producing as much of the other cannabinoids which have health benefits i.e CBD CBN etc. Before drug dealers/ growers started breeding plants, most weed had a lot more percentages of these and whichever of the 111 cannabinoids that have been discovered within them. As growers began to breed plants that produced the most THC possible, they hindered other cannabinoids like CBD CBN etc, which doesn't get you high, from being -produced. Some cannabinoid genes were, if not completely irradiated, reduced to significantly lower percentages within the buds. Now a days you have growers trying to reintroduce the high CBD genes back into the plants. They are basically trying to reverse the gene selection that marijuana growers have been doing for generations. And that is why i say pot used to be healthier back in the day. Of the few points of misinformation on here this seemed the most fun to tackle so i went for it. Though alot of good information from you two wonderful young ladies! :)

When the feds did THC percentage tests they were using samples of brick Mexican weed that sat in a police lockup for twenty years compared to a fresh sample of super potent kush. The levels they tested on the old crappy weed showed less than 3% THC versus 22-26% THC in the newer fresher strain. The numbers were skewed from the beginning. On the CBD levels dropping that you mentioned, that's not all that true either. Almost every strain tested in the last ten years, whether Indica, Sativa, or Hybrid had around 1% CBD. Lately growers have been isolating strains with higher amounts of CBD and specifically growing to boost the levels of CBD. The THC level in a given strain has almost no bearing on the amount of CBD. This is purely genetic. CBD is even in male plants with no THC (hemp).
I dont really have time to get into it but you are wrong on your first point. The reason weed is stronger these days has many variables some of which include more knowledge about the plant. Something as easy as plucking all the male plants so they dont pollinate the female plants who create the thc to attract the pollen hasn't been done up until recent. That doesn't even consider breaking down the nutrients they need and monitoring the health of the plant or creating the correct environment depending on the species. In mexico they grew it in mass and did not pay any attention to these aspects of horticulture and naturally it was seedy and not as strong. Your only argument really is whether the max potential thc has changed and the answer is no. Provided they would have payed attention to the health of the plants they could have grown just as high of a percentage. Then again it was the cartels... On top of all this have you ever smoked mexican weed seen it done anything with it. On top of that Have you never been to a dispensary and seen the same strains one tests out at 27% the same exact strain different grower test out at like 15%? And to your second point selective breeding has been going on with the plant for thousands of years. Even within the same species. Humans trying to breed the best strongest plant with each other. Breeding out CBD CBN etc. for stronger plants that make more THC. Your knowledge goes back 10 years and the plants tests from 10 years ago which quite frankly is not very long especially when you have multiple generations of weed growers in the green triangle as well as BC who basically bread most all of those strains that you are talking about being tested. Your numbers are skewed in that the tests happened after the fact.... really? The reason the amount of THC is important compared to the CBD is the flower is that the plant already grows so much of this chemical just think 20-30% of the plant, not including the plant matter itself, is THC. There is literally no possible way to grow more of anything on the flower itself so what you have growers doing is changing the genes to produce less THC while trying to produce more CBD and still trying to get as high as they can to that 30% mark of cannabinoids. They obviously found out the plant will only produce so much so they adjust according. Yes CBD has been found in hemp but is not used for medical purposes. At least in the states it is illegal to grow and in industrial grows there are harmful pesticides used due to the fact it is manly grown for paper not human consumption. So that is sort of irrelevant for now at least.
+ I'm not sure about other states, but in Colorado part of the bill legalizing for recreational use also legalized industrial hemp growing. The only reason no one is diving into it on a large scale yet is the federal position on it.
