    Now I know why citizens were protesting in the streets about the IMF loan. They will pay the price for this deal made by the president who isn't interested in helping citizens, only his rich friends. The biggest IMF loan in history will never be repaid. I lived in Argentina during the 2001 crisis, and now we have another one to deal with. Citizens know this isn't going to be easy for them. My thanks to TRNN and Prof. Hudson for the interview.

    They always crash the currency before they pay back the loan, they say they will give them good continence and will let them slowly pay back the loan with their natural resources or labor.

    There must be something else going on besides capital flight and the enriching of the upper class. Why are they doing this? What are they planning for the future? Of course anything we say here is purely conjecture and I know most of us don’t like to speculate. Surely though there is someone out there that can give an educated guess as to what the end game is right? Michael and Sharmini I’m a big fan and and enjoy very much your news source as it is in my opinion “real news” thnx

      What would happen to your neighborhood if you git 50 billion? It would buoy asset prices which can to be sold off. once the payment comes due then cash flows will fall along with asset prices.

      The loan maintained the value of the currency. That means the money that rich Argentinians had in the bank didn't lose it's value. Just for argument's sake, let's say 3 Argentine pesos could buy 1 US dollars. The rich took their money out of the bank and converted it to US dollars and then they moved it to banks in other countries. Over time, the currency in Argentina lost value. Let''s say it now took 6 pesos to buy 1 dollar. This made imported goods more expensive because the peso is weaker. But the rich people didn't care because they had already moved their money out of the country while the peso was supported by the IMF loan. The poor were left to pay the debt plus the higher cost of imports.

    Why can't Prof Hudson be persuaded to speak more slowly and deliberately. He said that inflation "causes" the price umbrella over the cost of living that labor has to pay for etc., etc., ... to do what? ... "causes"... to do what? An incomplete sentence and a muddled thought. Prof Hudson should catch his breath, slow down and think before he speaks so that we can understand his effort to share his understand. In spite of her efforts, Sharmini cannot clarify much of what Hudson is trying to say.

    • @michaelcre8
      @michaelcre8 5 лет назад +4

      It isn't very complicated. Inflation means price inflation. Inflation describes how much the purchasing power of wages are falling. That's how inflation is effectively a regressive tax on the middle and lower classes. The middle class and lower class pay for inflation while the beneficiary of inflation is whoever receives an unfairly low interest rate loan, which is usually corrupt businesses with political connections. In America, it's Wall Street and the big banks. Prof Hudson is suggesting this corporate raider class is going to gain access to the loan funds for themselves, withdraw funds, convert them to other currencies, and leave the Argentine taxpayers with the debt and weaker currency.

    • @grb1969
      @grb1969 4 года назад +1

      Michael Creighton yes, price inflation is an indirect means of wage deflation. Austerity is neo-slavery by financialized means.
