- Well before the Wagner group seized Rostov-on-Don, and sent a column of military vehicles towards Moscow before Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin accepted a deal and apparently took refuge in Belarus, DW sat for an interview with Moldovan President Maia Sandu. She told DW not quite one month ago that instability from Russia could be expected for years to come. Speaking to DW’s Tim Sebastian for an in-depth look at the situation in the country, Sandu said that Moscow had funded a plot against her government and threats against her personally. The president aims to have Moldova ready for EU membership by 2030 and said that it would be safer for her country to join the bloc. She also discussed Moldova’s cooperation with NATO, despite the constitutional proclamation of neutrality. Sandu said she had “big doubts that Russia would respect our neutrality,” given what the Kremlin has already done in Ukraine. Absolutely agreed and supported. Despite what I believe to be Tim Sebastian’s almost combattive and confrontational interview "style and technique", Moldovan President, Maia Sandu holds her own in the discussion, remains calm and offers appropriate responses to Sebastian's intrusive questioning.
I have noted Sebastian's style, that I consider to be objectionable, in other interviews.
If she runs for president in Romania, she has my vote.

Maria Sandu is a very nice lady, she represents a country as the supreme leader, and in my opinion she should not be so reticent about what Moldova's goals are in the future regarding the EU and NATO. She only cautiously says that she wants security for Moldova. This is probably because they have the war in Ukraine close at hand. If I were the leader of a great power like the USA, I would first of all make it absolutely clear to countries like Russia, China, Iran, etc. that the West will NEVER accept a defeat for Ukraine and that we will do absolutely everything for Ukraine will win back every square centimeter, whatever the cost. In my opinion, the western countries should have sent a lot more equipment and a lot of soldiers to Ukraine a long time ago, and We should have kicked Russia out of Ukraine a long time ago. This is why the smaller NATO countries still do not feel safe yet. The west are still WAY too hesitant In my opinion, and I don't understand why it didnt happend.

Russia will win in Ukraine, but is only annexing it's historical territories, with Russian founded cities like Odessa, Kherson, Mariupol, Luhansk, Donetsk Kharkiv, etc., with Russian speakers who want to be part of the Russian Federation again, they don't want to be part of Ukraine, that is why you see no riots or disturbances anywhere in the Russian held territories in Ukraine. The people in Odessa are mostly ethnic Russian, they speak Russian not Ukrainian and most want to be part of a rich prosperous country like Russia, not a corrupt and poor country like Ukraine, before the war started over 50% of the Ukrainian population lived below the poor threshold, that is why millions left when the war broke out, they saw a golden opportunity which was a one way ticket out poverty, not necessarily because they were in harm's way. All those people in the east and southeast of Ukraine want to be part of Russia, not of Ukraine, that is why you see no riots or disturbances in the Russian occupied territories, the west is not telling the truth, they want to paint a pic that Ukrainians/Russians want to live in that fascist regime installed in Kyiv by the west, most don't, that is why there are over 9 million Ukrainians working and living in Russia. If Russia defeats Ukraine, which according to most experts, including US ex-military brass that is what is going to happen, Russia will take Odessa and Ukraine will end up being a landlocked country. Check out "judge napolitano - judging freedom", he has all kinds of US ex-military and ex-CIA agents on his show, they all tell the same thing, Ukraine in the end will be defeated not matter how many weapons/intell/advisors and mercenaries they're give to Ukraine by NATO.

These quaint little patches, be it Slavic, Baltic or whatever, whilst romantically antiquated as though they've been there forever, have morphing borders that have only been around for 15 minutes and probably only another 5, so they have that Turin-breaks Friesian cow curvy flux to them like grappling to perchance clasp a squirming fish in a dream. Moldova is one of those places. What we have here is a randomly generated map from something like Ultima Online, peppered with castles and keeps more about form than functional defence, with designs conjured up in a Laudanum delirium because a King's daughter had his ear by too much whispering influence and snuggles on his knee. You don't need to look up their national anthem because we all can already tell it is bound to sound like a music box. The last time Britain was involved in a war near there, our military wore fur. Trying to maintain their geographical Markov state transition as stable is like believing a Sylvanian Familes toy-shop will always be open and you'll never have to become an adult because the bearded owner will somehow remain immortal like Santa _(and he and his wife will eventually adopt you)._ Upkeep of the keep looks expensive. They'd need to come to some manner of agreement with Ukraine about sea access and railways _(preferably dual-gauge 3Metre and European-gauge in spots)_ so logistics can be organised, to keep it sustainable and its boundaries of Europe upon it going that way. Right now Romania has the geographical and geospatial European monopoly on that spot but they have had protests about infrastructure challenges.
